The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Thanks! It's so weird that she's reacting this way...she is REALLY interested in what we eat. It's almost like she's thinking I want what you are having! Not this junk!:confused3

That would be another school of thought.... just feed the baby what you're eating (within reason, of course) just cut up small or cooked soft & mashed with a fork....... probably what our grandparents and great grandparents did. Only tried rice cereal so far w/ my babes & have had the same reaction you have. I'm thinking of trying veggies instead, but haven't done it yet. I'm in no real hurry.:lmao:

When do you guys stop using special detergent for the LO's clothes??

I've never washed our stuff in the free & clear and he's cuddled with us, laid on our blankets, etc. with no issue so I'm thinking I can probably start washing Lucas' stuff with ours, right?

I've never used a special detergent. But then I'm not a big fan of scents / fragrences so I use All Free & Clear for all our stuff. :) I guess I'm no help!:confused3

With DS5 we used the special stuff until he was a year and washed his stuff sperate. With Lilliana we have been mixing her stuff with ours since the beginning. We use All free and clear plus extra's and she has been fine. I would try in your wash and see how it effects him.

Ditto. I'm allergic to everything so I always used All Free and Clear too.

I would go ahead. You'll know if it bothers him!:thumbsup2

think I quit using special detergent once the Dreft was gone. Then I figured he's touching us and our clothes all day so if he was irritated maybe it would have showed up already. That was 2 years ago and no problems since. We did a load of wash with Tide at Disney and the baby had a terrible rash around his neck and face. Once we got home, the rash was gone.

Sarah, our little one did the same thing. I started with rice cereal and he wouldn't even open his mouth. He would turn away and scoot down in his chair. So we waited a few weeks and did nursing on demand only. We went back to rice cereal but a little thicker with plain water and he ate it right up.

I was told to do orange vegetables first, then green, and slowly add fruit. He went from eating no baby food to eating 2 jars at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sometimes he will even eat a snack of Mum Mums or apples before we brush his teeth for bed.

I was just as worried too but just put it off for a bit. She might just be really happy nursing but eventually she will get hungry and accept what you are serving. :goodvibes Hope that helps!

Piecey, have you thought ahead to taking Lucas with you to your appointments towards the end? Our doctor let DS hold the doppler and help measure. He got a big kick out of it.

ETA: Amandalisa love the design! Is that you behind Sully? We did a bunch of magnets from the creative threads for our cruise door. DS just loved them!

Hm. Okay, I've used Tide/All Free and Clear for Lucas' stuff since the beginning, I never paid the premium price for Dreft. I'm way too cheap for that! It was forever before I even saw the Dreft HE anyway.

I think I might start with just using our fabric softener on his clothes and then gradually move to all his laundry in with ours.
I looove scented laundry so we have scented detergent, fabric softener and dryer sheets and I use it all on every load. :rotfl: It might be a bit much at first so we'll try a gradual introduction lol.

Yeah, the Dreft was a gift from my sister. She gave us a huge laundry basket full of the detergent, stain remover, and clothes. It was nice, but I didn't want to spend that much for detergent each time. I usually do the kids stuff together because there is enough of their stuff for a whole load. :laundy:

Thank you!!! Yes, that's me behind Sully. Pic was taken in July and I had really bad roots, but I'm the photographer in the family, so it was the only good one I had :lmao:.

I just changed the text to read:

Just us and a couple of our closest friends

Love it, it turned out really cute. I am the photographer in our family too. People stop us all the time to take their picture at Disney and DH says 'You'll want her to do it...". :)

Hi fellow moms! I'm a new(ish) mom, new to DIS and new to discussion boards in general!
Any suggestions for getting my 6 month old to sleep through the night? He wakes up at least 3 times a night to feed, sometimes as many as 6 times a night!

Hi and :welcome:!

I hate to tell you, but my almost 1 year old still gets up in the night. I think every kid is just different.:scared1::rotfl:

I sincerely hope he goes through some kind of big change by his birthday.:lmao:

Welcome! Does he eat solids yet? If so, maybe try some rice cereal or oatmeal before bed to keep him fuller longer.

Also, is he in your room with you? My Isabelle, also 6 months, really stopped waking up in the middle of the night when we put her in her own room around 3 months. I don't know if she smelled me in there, and that woke her and made her hungry or what, but she stopped after the room change.

He does eat solids, but he is a reflux baby. We can't load him down with a lot of food or formula before bed or he spits it up. He is in his own room and has been since 3 months as well. My MIL thinks he is just in the habit of waking up and suggested just giving him water in his bottle, but that is not working!

My OB is a tiny, tiny little woman. She's thin and short. I saw her today and had to bite my lip to keep from laughing when she picked up Lucas! :rotfl:
She struggled a bit to get him out of his stroller and couldn't believe how heavy he was.

Thats my boy!

We went to the grocery store after that.. my first adventure with him and one of those cart cover things. It worked pretty well. Much better than lugging his car seat in with me!

Sorry I haven't been posting much here. Due to the Saints winning the game & headed to the Superbowl, our home has been party central with black & gold everywhere!

Shelby cut her 3rd tooth at the top & #4 isn't too far behind. Today she is running a low fever & very cranky, so I know it's her teeth that are bothering her.

Friday is DH & I's 10th anniversary, so we are packing up all 3 kiddos, dropping them off at babysitters for over night & having our 1st date in forever!

Does he totally wake up, eyes open, or is he just making noises with his eyes closed? Natalie will sometimes wake up and all I need to do is give her a binki. She also sleeps with music in her room. This way every little sound doesn't wake her. Is his room too hot or cold? I also don't talk to her when she does wake up in the middle of the night. I hope that doesn't sound cold, I just wanted her to know that it wasn't "play" time. Good luck:wizard:

Welcome, Rainydaze!

Do you have a wave machine or white noise machine? That seemed to really help our kids. We just leave it on 24/7.

Have you tried a sleepsack? That will eliminate the fact that he might be cold or feel so tiny in his crib.

Does he take a paci?

Sometimes he totally wakes up and sometimes he will put himself back to sleep, which he just started doing in the past week or so. He totally wakes up at least 3 times a night and takes a bottle, but he keeps his eyes closed during the feeding. We tried the Enfamil Restfull formula, which is supposed to thicken in the stomach so babies sleep longer, and he still woke up 3 times! If I have to change his diaper when he wakes up he gets sooo angry because he's so hungry! He cannot sleep longer than 3 or 4 hours before waking up, which sometimes means I've only been in the bed an hour or so myself before I'm up feeding him again. He also doesn't nap during the day more than 45 minutes.
I definitely agree with the no talking policy. I think it engages and excites them!
Thanks for the well wishes!
