The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

We are doing a scrub down on the house... It amazing how busy having two babies a four year old and seven year old home makes you!! Our house is a hot mess!! I havent done a full on scrub down since the week before I had the twins. Now they are 6 months old!!

I'm going pants shopping.

I'll be in a classroom again this semester and we're not allowed to wear denim anymore.... stupid.

None of my pre-pregnancy stuff fits yet and the only maternity pants I still wear are jeans, so I need pants.

It's cold here! I was hoping to spend another day around the pool but it's not getting above 70 out there anymore.

I plan to locate the winter comforter at some point this weekend... it's getting closer to us needing it.

I could gripe about insurance all day but at the current moment I'm more annoyed with the hospital/my OB. I need to know whose fault it is!!

You guys probably remember my 3 trips to L&D right before Lucas was born due to my gallbladder, right? Well I've only gotten a bill for 2 of the 3, let us call them trips 1 & 2. Insurance has only received a bill for 2 & 3. It doesn't make any sense, either, that they billed one as "Surgery" and the other for "Day Surgery"... my insurance on "Surgery" is 80/20 and insurance covers 100 on "Day Surgery" so that irritates me a bit. I was there for the same thing, in the same room even! Yet the billing is all messed up and nothing is consistent!

The other hospital has my insurance backward for the gallbladder surgery, too. It's seriously the biggest mess I've ever seen. :rotfl:

Mendy, they didn't pull it back?? The NP at the Pediatrician's office pulled Lucas' back for me. I can't imagine how hard that has to be on you guys. Eek!

Melessa, omg! That is scary! I wonder why they feel the need to stamp "uninsured" all over your paperwork-- does that somehow mean you're not entitled to the extra cup of Jello?! What a PITA!!!

I think december still takes a big piece of the cake, though. She said they gave her the first bill before she even left!

Yep. Katie was born on Thu, and on Fri they called and wanted to know how much I could pay that day, and was anyone in the room who could bring the check immediately! And I have insurance, so it wasn't like they were going to be left with nothing if I didn't pay my part of the bill!

That weather sounds heavenly! It is still in the upper 80s/low 90s here. I would love to have a real "fall" for a change, instead of going straight from hot to cold and nasty.

I went and bought pants after work today, before I got Katie. I can't wear my preKatie pants without a large muffin top, and being very uncomfortable! I've been wearing the same 3 pair of maternity pants (khaki, brown, black) over and over. So I went and bought some nonMaternity Khaki, black, and grey today. We have an outlet store here (Burke's Outlet) that gives a discount of 15% on Fridays. I got the pants, 3 tops, and a shirt for mil's birthday for $78!

Update on my Little Chubba Bubba's visit to the Dr.
She weighed 12 lb 5 oz and is in the 90th percentile.
She measured 22 inches and is in the 50th percentile.
She is a bit fussy. I gave her some Tylenol, hope the night isn't to bad for her. She isn't herself.

Oh what a chubba! Sounds alot like my Natalie:love: The Tylenol worked like a champ for Natalie. Good luck tonight!

Well, we're bummed because it never got warm here to begin with. It's usually hot and icky here at least for a month and it never got that way this year...

Oh well.. next year will be more fun with Lucas in the pool, too!

Yeah, my pants don't even button. My hip bones are too wide now.

Do they ever go back? I'm figuring I should just get rid of the pants and start new... especially if another baby is in the future. My hips don't seem to care that my babies don't need them to get wider because they're not exiting that way. :rotfl:

Hi everyone! I figured it was time to move over to this thread now that my little man Landon is 2 weeks old! Wow, I can't imagine how fast his first year is going to fly by.

A quick re intro: I'm Melissa (25) and my DH is Robert (29). Our son was born on 8/21. We are just enjoying being new parents and loving every minute with our little man.

What dates will you be in Disney? We are going to be there October 9th - 14th at Pop century.

The 24-31st.

Two (maybe even 3) of us will be there that week!! :)

Okay, so I'm totally depressed after attempting to go shopping for pants. I'm not sure whether I want to venture back out or not. Ugh.
We had to come home because in typical me nature I forgot formula.
It's always something! Formula, bottle, water, nipples, liner.. etc.
You name it, I always forget at least 1 component of the diaper bag.

What I do is totally prepare a feeding (or two) & take the prepped bottles out in a cooler bag w/ ice blocks. If your baby will take the feeding cool, you're set. If your baby insists on a warmer bottle, you either need to get some kind of travel bottle warmer or bring along some hot water in a thermos.....

Sorry about the pants shopping! I can relate...it was depressing before I ever got pregnant so now isn't much better.

Have you tried having the diaper bag ready even if you aren't going anywhere? That's one really good piece of advice I got and it's worked well for me so far...have the diaper bag stocked and filled with whatever you need at all times so that if you have to go anywhere you're pretty much already good to go. Or maybe have a list of what you would need for going out taped to the fridge or somewhere near the door and then double check the list to make sure you have everything before you leave? Just a suggestion to help you out cause I am the queen of being unprepared and forgetting stuff :rotfl:

That's a big benefit of breast feeding! I just have to listen to the kids whine, "Mama, you're not going to do that here......":rotfl:

Katie takes long naps at daycare. Not so much at home. She's in my lap after a wonderful 12 min nap this afternoon. I have an 8 page paper due Monday, that I haven't even started on! Grad school, work, and a newborn....What was I thinking!:scared1:

I'm soooooo tired, the problem is so is everyone else in the house. Last night was a bad night, much stereo screaming.

Katie is colicky & so screams a lot. Dylan is generally pretty mellow, but not last nite.

Me, DH & MIL had to work in shifts, but siince the twins were not settling it took 2 of us at any given time. So none of us got much sleep. I don't know how we'll be getting through tonite. Hopefully they sleep.

Also yesterday I did not pump enough &got a plugged duct. I feel like crap besides the not enough sleep headache. I'm trying to stay on top of pumping today, but it is tough. I just wanna take to bed. I can't.

Lucas eats room temperature bottles only...

I've fixed the nipple, liner, bottle and water problem... I got a cheapie bottle from Wal*Mart for $1 with the oz. measurements on it and keep it full in his diaper bag. I find the measurements on the drop-ins bottles to be off a bit so I like that I can measure more exactly with the bottle from Wal*Mart... it doesn't leak like the drop-ins do, either, if I manhandle the diaper bag a bit.
I also have a huge stack of liners in his bag now, along with one of the bottles, and I always ALWAYS keep a clean nipple, ring and cap in his bag... and I pretend it isn't there so when we get ready to go out I grab cleans ones and if I forget... I at least have the "emergency nipple!"

So I've gotten better in the last few weeks.. the little things that make it easier to go out... but I must have filled up his little powder canister and left it on the kitchen counter. Stupid mistake.

I think it frustrated me even more because I didn't find pants. DH was getting grumpy... even though he bought shoes he sorta needed and 3 polos he absolutely did not need. Yet wonders why I was frustrated that no pants fit my hips!!! GRRR...

I'm not sure what to do. I can't wear my skirts (knee length) because I have a tattoo on my ankle. All the pants that fit my hips are swimming on my thighs/behind. Denim is banned from the classroom this year.

Gr. I'm just not in a happy mood.

I bought the pink one when they were free before (only offered pink and blue that time). I wouldn't have paid $40 for one, but for $8 shipping it is nice. I've used it a ton. I ordered a printed one this time. It will stay in my diaper bag for going out, and the pink one will stay at home for when we have company.

I hope things get easier soon, dannysmom. And Piecey, I understand completely!

It's mommy brain....when we took Ty for his first trip at 5 months old. I forgot his bottles!!! Yup had formula, h2o etc..no bottle. We were at fultons just ordered dinner when I realized it! And you guessed it, Ty woke up!

Ty will be 8 on Tuesday and my husband still hasn't let me forget what I did. Needless to say I can count on one hand how many times he's put together a bag, 3 kids later. And after he does it...I still have to double check it!

I went out and bought 2 of the Graco ComfortSport carseats from Target this morning. They were $50 each. Pretty good deal and they go from 5lbs to 40lbs. I was thinking about a britax, but wasn't sure about spending the $$$ and I know that graco is a good brand.
