The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Lucas was born the 3rd... so he's 2 days younger than Amelia.

I'm not sure about another growth spurt, but I'm beginning to think so. He's killing me. I'm breaking out the 8oz bottles later tonight, so we'll try going up to 6oz a feeding and I bet we'll waste. Frustrating!

Lucas has been waking up, looking at me and screaming [he does this little squeal/scream that at first scared the crap out of me] and then going right back to sleep. What the heck!?
We were going to go out today but I called DH and told him he can watch our weird little Piglet tonight while I go out... I'm not taking him screaming like that into a store! I might give some little old lady a heart attack!!

That is kinda gross about the poop. Poop is about the only thing consistent in Lucas' life... not in when it comes, but in what it looks like.

And oh my-- we're really that close?! Crap. We're doing counter service dining plan and we're going to pay OOP for Ohana one night but I don't know which night! I need park hours, dangit!
I can taste the Dole Whip.. so close!
We're flying, so I'm sure that will be an experience. I got nonstop flights out of the airport an hour from here (tiny little airport) for $350 RT for all of us. We couldn't have driven for that!

..and you would think daycare would know there is not typical day. They are completely different and unique in their own way...

We're going to Ohana for dinner on 10/25, requesting around 6pm. It's what we've started doing on our first night. Just like the first day we go to MK and have breakfast at crystal palace at 8, then down to the barbershop for haircuts as the park opens. It's funny watching everyone run inside when you're already in there.

Ohmygosh, hours are up! I didn't even know. Now I can plan!! YAY!

I went in early once for the Keys to the Kingdom tour. .It's so neat to be in there with no one else there!!

*ETA*
Looking at the hours I say we'll probably do Ohana the 30th. I don't do park hoppers and that is Animal Kingdom's EMH night... so we could just leave there and go hit Ohana during MK fireworks. Of course that is the plan with a quick look at the hours.

Either that night or an Epcot night. I gotta figure it out! I love that hours are out woohoo!

Y'all are killing me with you WDW plans! I'm want to go so bad!

I'm accusing Katie of having a growth spurt now at almost 8 wks. For 4 straight days, she is nursing constantly. She is sleeping great-7 hrs straight last night-but during the day she is eating every hour or more and not napping much at all. During an hour of church yesterday, I had to leave twice to nurse her! I heard the announcements and about 5 min of the sermon. I go to a tiny little church, and the preacher put a rocking chair in a little room right behind the sanctuary so I could nurse comfortably (the 1st week I went to the nursery (no one uses it), and the AC wasn't working back there).

Valerie, I hope the twins are doing great today. I'm reading everyone's updates, but can't post much with Katie nursing while I'm online. She is asleep in my bed now, and I have to get some work done before she wakes up hungry again!

That is soooo sweet of him to do something just for you!!

My church has a "mother's room" - it has 4 reclining/rocking cushioned seats, and a big area with changing tables/pads, etc. There is a speaker in there, so anything going on in the chapel can be hear if you are in there nursing/feeding, changing, etc. I can't wait to use it :)

(PS I know I am just supposed to be lurking, but I just thought that was such a sweet thing the preacher did!)

It is sweet. I had actually thought about pumping and bringing a bottle to church, but after he moved the rocker for me (he has to be 80 yrs old!) I had to use it! The room is just a few feet from the back pew, where we've been sitting since I got pregnant (easy to run out when I had to puke:sick:), but I can't hear because the AC unit is in the room and is very loud. But at least I don't have to go far. The nursery does have a speaker, but you have to either walk past the preacher and through the back of the church, or go outside and walk around the church, to get to it. And with the window AC unit not working back there, there is now way I can use it!

Well it was back to work for me today. Can't believe I have been off for 16 weeks! Time really flies. Allison did better than I thought. Finally took the bottle without a problem from my mom and took a nice long 3hr nap this morning... probably bc we had to wake her up so I could feed her this morning.

Hopefully my supply for breast feeding will hold up. I was only able to pump once between her morning feeding (6am) and evening feeding (5pm)... I would like to still be able to BF on my days off all day. I am only working 3 days a week. Is this going to screw me up??? Anyone know?

Ideally you would pump once for every missed feeding. When would Allison normally BF during that time frame?

As to whether it will screw you up for BF on your days off, well it depends. Probably depends on your "storage capacity" -- if you were getting engorged, that's probably not a good sign. When you get engorged before you are able to empty, (whether by nursing or pump) it's a signal for your body to produce less.

A great resource / support group that I found last time I was pumping is the Yahoo groups list, PumpMoms; http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/PumpMoms/

I totally can't decide which dining plan to do. Only $10 more per night to do the table service dining plan but at the same time.. I'm torn because of Lucas. I just can't decide!! That will change things for sure on my planning.
I think my day for ADRs is 7/16.

Once we figure out our final schedules we'll have to see if we're going to be somewhere around the same time. It would be neat to maybe meet up for a lunch or something or another.

I'm ready to go!!

Sorry december. :guilty:

I'll live:goodvibes

Katie was a handful tonight. She finally went to sleep at 11:30, and I sent in my assignments for class at 11:54 (2 min ago). They are due at midnight. The 2 assignments together count for 2% of my grade, so my heart really wasn't in it! She wouldn't let anyone hold her but me. Dh gave up and went to the couch about an hour ago. He tried to help, but she was determined to have her mama! I'd love to know how many oz she drank today.

Awww...

Lucas got a bottle at 11pm. He's still asleep. I made DH make him finish the bottle (5oz) to see how long he'd go.

He's got a pediatrician appt. at 8 and here I sit. I loathe insomnia. :( Both my boys are asleep and I'm snacking from boredom.

Lucas drank 5 oz! WOW! I wonder how much Amelia gets? How big is he? (well I guess you'll find out in the morning). Amelia was 7 lbs 9 oz last thurs at 4weeks. I swear she is bigger already. So Amelia is the older of the two I couldn't remember LOL. She sleeps pretty bad so I'm super mega sleep deprived at this point.

She wanted me all day, I couldn't put her down. I love cuddling my newborn but I want to eat/pee/clean/take care of my other kids too!

I just keep telling myself this newborn stage goes by so fast...and I know I'll miss it so much!

It's really just been the last few days that he's gotten inconsistent in his sleep. Last week I had him eating 6oz before bed and sleeping 7-8hours, so I timed the bottle to be right before I went to bed. I can't get him to do that anymore, he wants to eat more often now and I haven't been able to time the bottles right before bed until tonight.

I think it's because I went out tonight and DH had his second time, ever, alone with him. It was time for him to eat when I left and I told DH to wake him up and feed him 4oz so he could get a bigger bottle before bed. I came home 2.5 hours later and DH was playing XBox with a half empty bottle behind him which he said he'd JUST given Lucas. I was mad. Not only is it a waste of $$ but I KNOW Lucas would have eaten it if Tom had worked with him a little. I've always gotten him to finish a 4oz bottle through burping him thoroughly or stopping and doing 5-10 minutes of tummy time with him before we go back to feeding. He'll let you know if he doesn't want it... either by falling asleep or pursing his lips.
That is why I made DH give him the bottle tonight.. I wanted him to see that you can push him to finish and he will sleep through the night. So far so good, he ate 4 hours ago and is still sleeping soundly and now DH knows some of my tricks.
I could have killed him when I came home and he was playing XBox with Lucas in his swing (still wearing a formula soaked bib) and formula on his face. Ugh.

Anyway.. sorry. I was mad! We weighed him last Saturday and he was 10.5lbs-ish We'll see tomorrow for sure.

I think it must help that I couldn't really cuddle Lucas at first. He was over my weight limit so my OB told me limited lifting of him and with all my pain meds I was petrified of falling asleep if we cuddled in bed so he was never with me for long. He's used to his crib/being on his own and doesn't seem to mind if he isn't with me.

I however haven't cleaned or done much of anything... I need to follow staley's advice but so far I've not.. I've been so lazy. :(

Okay.. quarter til 5 and he's still asleep.

6 hours. So seems my plan is working.. bigger bottle before bed.

I'm going to go attempt sleep now and I guarantee you he'll probably wake me up if I manage to fall asleep.

Hi all, making the transition to the Mom's thread finally...
Emma had her first pedi appointment today. She was born at 7lb 5 oz and lost some weight in the hospital. Today she was back up to her original birth weight:goodvibes. I can't believe it is already a week. She has been taking about 3 1/2 -4 oz bottles. Patsy, I am taking notes. How old was Lucas when you went to the 6 oz night bottle?

I was so happy the Dr. gave me three sample cans of Similac today.

after delivering your little ones, how long were you told to wait before you drove??

I delivered ******lly but then had a tubal the following day. I was told no driving for two weeks!!!!.

I know each Dr. is diff. just curious what others were told.
