The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

we are staying at boardwalk and love it. i love the entertainment on the boardwalk and the fact that you can just walk right down vs driving over. we would always visit the boardwalk, but stayed in the villas for the first time last year.

I LOOOVE the Boardwalk, too! I love walking around there at night and will definitely be taking DH so he can see it. I need to immerse him in as much Disney magic as possible so that I can convince him to go back whenever I want...

We're staying at POP because I'm cheap (like that isn't obvious from my obsessive sales/couponing) and this was a last minute trip my DH agreed to with my final maternity pay. Except I chickened out and didn't quit when I went to quit yesterday... :rolleyes1:guilty:

:cheer2: It is official. I can now join!!!:cheer2::cheer2:

I had my baby girl, Natalie, 2 weeks ago today. It is wild to think that I was being prepped for my c-section just 2 weeks ago. I am heading to the doctors office this afternoon for my follow up appointment. I hope they say I can drive. I have been off my pain meds for over a week now.

Anyway, I don't know if I will have time to go back and read all 24 pages of posts. I may just jump in here if thats okay.

Hope everyone is doing great and adjusting to parenthood. The strangest thing for us has been not watching TV. I have no idea what is going on in the world.

Happy 4th of July everyone:banana:

Welcome!!! :banana::banana:

Ok ladies, I've talked DH into a big Disney trip. (BIG because we are in Hawaii and it's over 13-14 hrs in the air to Orlando!) We are DVC members and have a LOT of points to use so we are thinking of doing like 2 weeks.

The trip will be in the late fall, so it will be DH, me, 9 yr old 7 yr old and 5 mo. The choices are:
Treehouse or Bay Lake Magic Kingdom View 2br

Treehouses would be better if the 5 mo old was fussy/crying but Bay Lake is right on the monorail and my kids LOVE MK and to be able to see the fireworks from our room would ROCK...hmm...

Oh wow, I think with the convenience and all I'd do Bay Lake.

I want to do a Treehouse Villa one of these days (when I convince DH to buy into DVC)

So since you're saying 5month old and Lucas will be 5months old when we go.. does that mean we might be there at the same time (considering they were born 2 days apart)...?

We're going October 24-31.. we'll be there with TiggerStac, too. It'd be neat to do a mini-meet or something for lunch one day.

I needed to run some errands and decided to wait on DH to get home from work before I went out. Just wasn't up to lugging Lucas around with me for a bunch of short trips. So this was DH's first time alone with him...

...I walked in the door and the look on his face was classic. Apparently there was an "explosion" in his diaper and when he went to feed him the bottle exploded everywhere and formula was all over the place. Of course Lucas was crying because he was hungry/dirty, too.

He said "I love you and you can't imagine how much I respect that you stay home alone with him all day everyday." :rotfl:

When are you planning on going...see Picey's note..we'll both be down the last week in October.

I love it!

Do your little ones love the water? Katie does, and I don't remember the older kids liking it so much.

She started getting really fussy in the evenings over the weekend. I was in the tub one night when she started it, and I told dd9 to strip her off and hand her to me. Katie immediately hushed. Since then, every night when she gets fussy I start the water. Now, she stops crying when she hears the water running. She'll sit on my lap for a few minutes and "talk" to me. Then I'll lay her back in the water just holding her head. She kicks and plays as long as I let her. If I wasn't in there with her I'd have to have a picture! It is so cute.

If the water is warm enough on the 4th DH is going to put Lucas on a float and put him in the pool and push him around, to see how he reacts.

He always falls asleep in his whale tub so I'm thinking we won't have issues but it'll be our first true experiment, as I'm still not allowed to get in a bathtub yet. :(

I'm actually not sure yet when we are going...but that would be way cool if we were there the same time!!! We are still figuring out when DH will get leave and when the military will book our tickets. (they are paying...it's a COTS entitlement...free tickets to our home of record!)

COTs=consecutive overseas tour, we are doing back to back overseas tours so they give us a perk. :)

Oh that sounds so sweet!!

The military definitely had it's perks! I wasn't a military life for very long, and an even shorter active-duty wife, but the perks were good...

I really wish we'd gotten to take advantage of Hawaii before DH's discharge. Are you guys going to do the military ticket too? That is such an awesome offer. Wanted to take advantage of that before DH's discharge too but we didn't. :(

Well, I was hoping to hold off longer, but true to form, once my body had had enough there was no stopping things. I had the twins yesterday, 7/2 by emergency c-section just before 8AM, at 30 weeks, 5 days gestation. Both Dylan Michael & Kathleen Marie (Katie) each weighed 3 lbs 8 oz. They are preemies, but are doing well in the NICU -- I expect them to stay there around 6 weeks or so, best case.

Since I had a c-section I'll be here in the hospital through the holiday weekend. I'm OK, mainly sore from the surgery. Here is a flickr link with a birth day pic of each,

Yeah we are taking advantage of the ticket deal...saves us $$$, what a great deal!

I forgot to use the multiquote thing...sorry guys!:guilty:

DannysMom they are so precious!! They don't look as tiny as I expected for 30wks... Thats the baby in me almost! Im glad to hear you are doing well and I hope the soreness passes soon! Congratulations!!

x-post from other thread, I know lots of the new moms may have dropped out of the moms-to-be thread.... :goodvibes

Thanks everyone. I haven't yet gotten an update this AM on the kids, but I did go over to the NICU yesterday to see them. Dylan needed a bit more support on Day 1 than Katie did, but that's not surprising, preemie girls tend to do slightly better than preemie boys.

As of last night, both were on CPAP, which is basically air blown into their noses / lungs. And were both moved into isolettes. When babies "check-in" to the NICU, they start out on a warming tray, under basically a heat lamp, so that they can be tended to immediately if they require assistance/intervention. Once they decide that they are more stable, they move them to the isolettes.

I pumped for the first time last night before dinner & already got 2 small vials of colostrum that I had DH run over to the NICU before he went home. So it's there & ready & waiting when they decide to start up feeds.

I'm beat. Recovering from a c/s is no fun, I gotta say. But they want me up & moving, so I'm trying to keep up w/ the pain meds (percoset.) I feel like my insides were beaten w/ a baseball bat & then given a good stir w/ a wooden spoon for good measure.

Physically, I felt much better after my son's v@ginal delivery 6 years ago, even with an episiotomy. 'Course the surprise & shock of his early arrival left me an emotional train wreck for weeks. This time, emotionally I'm pretty good. This was all sort of "expected" or at least anticipated, I know how to navigate the NICU already -- so this time it's just physical recovery.

The twins seem so much bigger & healthier than Dan did when he was born, so right now I'm very hopeful. Hopeful and sore. Honestly, it felt like it took every last bit of my strength, energy, focus and attention to stay pregnant this last month, it's sort of a relief to move on to the next phase. I mean , I would have loved to stay pregnant longer, to shorten the babies' hospital time, but it was very very hard. I'm just glad that I was able to do as well as I did, for as long as I did. I gotta order some breakfast.

Are you home from the hospital already??

I hope you feel better soon, I know what you mean about the c-section. It was so frustrating to feel so crappy and useless. I overdid it and made myself worse, so trust me and take it easy...

Glad to hear they're doing well, thanks for keeping us updated! Can't wait until they are home with you and we're hearing about all the crazy things they do.

We've got two sets of twins on our thread!! :goodvibes
