The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

Today is pretty here, too. At least dh says it is. The rest of us are still inside. Katie is playing beside me, but the other 2 are asleep in their rooms. Neither has eaten yet. I did eat a bowl of soup. My head is killing me, and I'm sore all over, but I think the worst is over. No one has pooped (except Katie!) or vomited in the last 3 or 4 hours. So much for a nice relaxing holiday. I have 2 new assignments due Wed night, but I don't know if I'll get to them today.

Ugggggh. Lucas usually loves the car. Loves it! Naps or blows raspberries or giggles the entire time he's in it.

He had a pediatrician's appt. @ 1 to get the rest of his 6m shots so after that we hit Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch and he was great- slept through the whole meal.

So DH wants a new car. (I think he's just jealous of my Jeep, lol) and wanted to go test drive the one he's interested in- the GMC Acadia (I think it's GMC?) Anyway... we get in the car.. get going.. he is SCREAMING! Tears rolling down his poor face screaming.

I told DH to just drop me off at home, we were really close and something was obviously wrong. The salesman said "Oh, I didn't even notice." How do you not notice the kid is screaming at the top of his lungs and crying his eyes out?! I didn't think that was typical of any kid and definitely not my Lucas!

So we're home and I'm all sorts of irritated. Gotta love hormones!

Sorry-I don't have any experience with those.

I had one of the most miserable weekends I can ever remember. After I posted, I called dh (he and ds12 were at his brother's house watching football) to tell him that dd10 and I were both sick, and to come on home. He was on the way, but had to stop every few minutes because ds12 was vomiting, too! We were up all night, and I've washed so many loads of towels and sheets I don't even want to think about it. Dh is the only one ok right now. He went and got us some popsicles, Sprite, and soup, but no one has really been up to eating yet. I'm sore all over, because the vomiting was so violent. I hope dh dodged this bullet, because I'm so tired of cleaning up puke!
:hug:yuck! Im sorry you guys are all sick! I hope it has passed right on through your place now.

So, I filed my taxes this afternoon.. and it was already accepted! I should have my return on the 28th of Jan. :woohoo: I must say.. having two babies in one year was good for my taxes!:lmao:Just in time for my tip to Disneyland. My sister is going to meet up with me for a day. She got a one day parkhopper from a friend that used to be a cast member. Which is AWESOME. I was afraid she wasnt going to be able to afford it, her husband has been out of work for almost two years. I havent seen her since i was about 9 weeks pregnant with the twins. I used to fly down there every couple of months or so.. I have been missing her like crazy!

That sounds awesome! I know you miss your sister. I want to go back to DL one day, with Katie, and without all the in-laws I went with in 2008. It was nice to get a free trip (mil's sister flew her whole family out-minus my dh who wouldn't go), and we had a great time (did DL, SW, Vegas, Hoover Dam), but I had no control over any it. They are an interesting group........

I can't do our taxes until first of Feb. Dh used to work for an ins. company, and still gets occasional checks from them. Last year, I thought we had everything in, and did our taxes in mid Jan. Then that form came in, and I had to file an amendment. So this year, I'm just waiting. Being in school helps a lot, and having the baby should help, too. I'm hoping we can get a couple of bills paid completely off!

We stayed home today. Dh started vomiting/diarrhea last night, so we have all had it now. Ds12 came in with a nose bleed this morning, and my stomach still isn't quite right. And we are all so weak. Dh had a new employee starting this morning, so he took him to City Hall and told the mayor he was taking the day off. She took one look at him and said "you've got that stomach virus-GO HOME." Apparently, she had it last week, and didn't want to risk getting it again! I called in to work and to the daycare, and basically got the same response.

I'm not sure when we'll ever be able to file our taxes...

My boss forgot to "terminate" me in the computer system so well after my maternity leave was up I was still getting paid. I called HR multiple times because I didn't want to forget the money was there and accidentally spend it but they've STILL not fixed it and everytime I call they tell us it is an "on-going" case. I'm going to be pretty irritated if they give me a W2 with the wrong wages and then mail me a letter next year wanting the rest of it back! They overpaid me by an entire month... I think? Because I had vacation time due to me but I'm not sure how much. Ugh. Just makes me mad.

I want to go to Disneyland, too!! I've been to their Downtown Disney area and ate dinner in one of the hotels but that is it... I want to go back!

december, hopefully you guys get your energy back soon. That doesn't sound good AT ALL!

I don't know if any of you guys do the CVS thing or not, but with the ad starting 1/31 they'll have a diaper deal.

Huggies will be 2/$20 get 5 ECB back. They've been putting up $5/$20 purchase coupons so hopefully there will be one that week, too. Plus you can use Huggies coupons.

We are back from the zoo. Natalie had a great time. She loved the giraffe. I think she also just loved the people watching. We met up with a girlfriend and her little boy. This weather we are having is really making me want spring.

Me and Dh are going to go to Vegas next weekend. We leave on Friday and head home on Sunday. Two of our good friends from college live out there so we are going to meet up with them Friday night. My in-laws are going to watch the baby for us.

We had to take Sarah's pic the other day for her passport. It took 74 attempts to get one where she is facing the camera with her eyes open and her mouth (pretty much) closed.

I looooove Vegas! DH's best friend lives out there. We were married there and we hope to move there once we get our degrees/when we're more on our feet.
I just really love that place. :lovestruc

I hope you have a great time!!!!!!

sbell, too cute! Where are you guys going?

Welcome Shelby's Mom!

Sbell, we had the same problem taking the boys' pictures for our cruise. The 2year let me take 3 pictures and they all were great. But the baby was laughing and trying to escape. Or else he would bunch up the towel under him. Their pictures turned out so cute, it's a shame they are only good for 5 years. Where are you headed?

December, I hope you feel better soon. We had the same thing when we were on the last few days of our Disney trip once the cruise was over. DH had it the worst, but I missed it and so did the baby. Phew! Nothing worse than a sick baby on vacation.

MinnieFan, glad Natalie liked the zoo and the giraffe. Our DS2 loved looking at them out the window at AKL but couldn't say giraffe very well. So he just said "tall animal tall animal" when he saw them coming. We had a membership last year but I'm not sure if we'll renew it or the children's museum instead. They both love visiting the zoo but the museum is way closer and it's always perfect for rainy days.

We went out to Hobby Lobby and bought some clearance stuff we probably didn't really need. I did get some of those really cute kids thank you notes where you fill in the gift givers name, the gift, and the birthday child's name for $1 for 8 notecards. I got fire helmets and baseball gloves. Perfect for birthdays this year.

It's fun to try and salvage things that were broken or scratched from there. I got a huge framed print of Starry Night with this really beautiful ornate frame a few years ago. It was banged up pretty bad so I just scratched the other sides and rubbed it with some sandpaper. It wasn't broken at all, just a little mistreated. ;) I think Van Gogh would have liked it better that way. It was $199.99 and I got it for 90% off.

Love the pics of Sarah!

Anyone use baby carriers? I would really like to get into babywearing. I'd love to use it for grocery shopping and walks, but especially for our Disney world trip. I'm just so overwhelmed with the choices!! Holy crap thebabywearer.com is INSANE!!! These women have me wanting to spend $$$$$$$ on stuff I have no idea how to use! Luckily I found a local group with wonderful moms who are willing to let me try their stuff, but I'm impatient! I want to get the perfect thing the first time and I just don't see it happening.

Anyway...Lily and I did Kindermusik this morning. I was extremely underwhelmed. I've sat in on the classes for older kids and they were better, but honestly? the storytimes we do here are sooo much better...and free! The teacher said she wants to give me a big discount since I've been letting her do Demos here for years, so maybe...

Sarah, have you tried anything other than the cereal yet? Just curious! :)

Lucas HATED apples the first time we tried them. I decided to try again tonight... so I mixed them with some rice cereal and he ate TWO of the 4oz jars (plus however much cereal I put in)... crazy stuff.

This made me giggle...

It is 4:35, and I have been up since 3am, sick as a dog again. I just emailed assignments to the school. I thought we were better yesterday! I am now officially out of days, so my next paycheck will be cut. And I was supposed to spend 7 hours in the library today, with the counselor, doing a program with my kids. That would have counted as 7 hrs towards my 300 hour internship. :guilty: No way I can work like this, though.

We are planning on a baltic disney cruise in June, if we can figure out how to afford it before 2/11.

Sarah kinda likes the baby bjorn, but absolutely hated the sling that we tried out. Honestly, its pretty rare that she is 'worn'. I'd rather push a stroller, even through Disney crowds.

Not yet. I'm making butternut squash and sweet potatoes on Friday. We just keep running out of time to get started since I want to try making my own food...at least at the beginning. It's SOOO easy to just roast the veggies and then puree them. I got ice cube trays to put the food in and then I'll just pop them out and stick them in a freezer bag. It's so much cheaper!

This made me giggle...

I know what I'm doing all day!! I love me some weird photo sites. Have any of you seen www.peopleofwalmart.com OMG!

That's terrible!! Sending good health pixie dust your way!! :wizard:

DH feels the same way. By the time I get a carrier, I have a feeling she will refuse to use it. Especially WDW in August...we would all probably be more comfortable without it.

Even though I like the carriers, I prefer the stroller at WDW for the bulk of the time. I have the Rayshade and it gives him the best protection from the sun. I'm always worried about sun exposure (especially since a couple of years ago, I had a large chunk of my arm removed:scared1:)...probably overprotective, but I can't help it. Even with hats and lots of sunscreen I worry.

The carrier is nice for waiting in lines though (and for shopping)!:goodvibes
