The "Newest" Moms Hangout...

The worst crowds we've ever encountered were in May and those were barely moderate, at worst. I can't even imagine going during Christmas or Spring Break!:scared1:

We do the summer and have done Christmas two times. By far, the worst was New Years. The parks closed at 10am because they were full. And if you left you weren't coming back in. It was so cold once the sun went down DH and I were considering going back to the hotel but didn't want to miss the fireworks. So we got hot chocolate and froze instead. :goodvibes

That sounds like our New Years '00 WDW story.

It was really crazy but to be honest it's one of the funniest memories. There is a picture of my DH with bright red cheeks because, being the gentleman that he is, he gave me his sweater to wear.

We were just down the day after Christmas and the lines were insane. We were on the cruise for NYE though, so we missed the insanity that must have been happening at MK. There was even a little line for the People Movers! And I have to add, the new soundtrack is awful. No more Tom Morrow.

I did the week before Christmas with my brother several years in a row... we left the day after finals and came back on Christmas Eve.

We loved it! We did notice the crowds really started to get crazy towards the end of the week, though... so we made sure to do our favorite stuff at the beginning and did more DTD, the Osborne Lights, etc. towards the end of the week.

I was planning on using his Orlando location to take Lucas a lot but he just had to move to Australia! Ugh. Doesn't he know how this ruins my WDW plans?! :rotfl:

But how fun will a trip to Australia be!

I'm afraid us teachers will never get to experience a "down" time at WDW. I do want to go one year the week leading up to Christmas, if our exams fall at the right time. I loved the Christmas stuff when we went for Thanksgiving 07. But we left Thanksgiving Day, so we missed all the Epcot festivities. I want to see the storytellers!

Patsy, I see nothing wrong with you planning your cruise that far out-I've been dreaming about a 2012 cruise since before Katie was born! :goodvibes She'll be able to go to the kids' clubs then. I'm planning to do a few days at Universal, then the cruise, if we can swing the money by then. I may have to wait until daycare is over, though.

I did DL in late May/early June in 2008. NO COMPARISON! I had to buy a fleece hoodie there because I got so cold!

I think I'm finally getter better. No appetite (which is NOT like me:rotfl:), but I haven't been sick since this morning. I finished my homework, too, thank goodness. Bad weather is headed our way, and it always knocks out our DSL.

Anyone do the whole monitoring HCG level thing??

Friend had her blood drawn Monday, level was 78. They did another draw today and it was 173. She is trying not to get too excited because they're low and her OB went ahead and put her on progesterine (sp?) because of her past miscarriage.

I'm totally unfamiliar with all that. I haven't known the HCG levels for either of my pregnancies.

I do get to go to my OB tomorrow, though! Still hoping they give me an order for an ultrasound!!

I never knew mine either. On that note, my friends who had tried for so many years to get pregnant had their sonogram today. They *think* it is a boy, but the tech said at 18 wks it was a little early to be sure. But it is a healthy looking baby regardless!

Awesome!

Sorry, I was going to respond to what you said but I was on the phone with her and in the middle of making dinner. So back to that...

I hope that nasty bug has finally left your house! But please, keep it in Mississippi... hehe.

DH was stationed at Pendleton (outside San Diego) for several years, so he knows he can handle the California weather. They had one of their Marine Corps. balls at Disneyland. I told him it was a shame I didn't know him yet, haha.

We discussed doing the inaugrual of the Dream... then I got pregnant so DH promised me we could do the Fantasy. Now I'm pregnant again. Oh, well. Who cares if it's the first sailing or not? As long as I get to go back on a Disney ship. I just loooooved my sailing on the Wonder. They truly do a fantastic job!

Would your DH do a cruise?

We SOOOO want to do a cruise!! But.. We cant. We cant get a passport for my oldest, because we cant find his dad. Yee-HAW. :sad2:

Really?? Their isn't anything they can do for him?? That stinks. :(

Patsy - Those numbers are great ... it doesn't really matter what they are just how they double. My first numbers where in the teens or something. Funny how I can't remember now. Actually, I think it was 9 or 11!! But they doubled every two days!!

I typed out a long post, and my internet went out when I clicked submit and I lost it! Thank goodness I got all my work done earlier. DSL has been hit and miss for hours now. Only in MS-2 wks ago it was below freezing and we had sleet, this week it is in the 70s and we are expecting tornados and hail.:confused3

Would your DH do a cruise?

No, he won't. I love him, but he is a hard headed man. My only choices are to go without him and have fun with the kids, or sit at home and let them miss out. I so wanted to travel, to do anything, as a kid, but wasn't able. I'm not going to let my kids do without, and I'm not willing to do without either! So I'm planning a cruise for me and my 3 babies!

Hopefully, we can all go back to school tomorrow. I wouldn't wish this virus on my worst enemy!

Nosy I know, but how long has he been MIA? Can you not do anything to terminate his legal rights? I've never gotten a passport, so not sure how that works. That really sucks, though.

Not really.. I can file a form for something.. I dont know, it has been a while since I looked. I called and asked and the lady said I can apply with extenuating circumstances... But it would most likely NOT get approved.

He has been in and out since he was born. We have looked into my husband adopting my son.. We were actually getting ready to start the process when his dad showed after two years of not hearing from him. So we gave him another chance. I think he has seen him twice in the past year. I have asked him about the passport, and he was like, yeah! We should go down and do it. Havent heard from him since. I dont even know how long ago that was.. I just feel bad for Alex, you know. I hate to terminate his rights if there is any way he will step up. BUT.. I know he wont. It just sucks all the way around.

Honestly.. If I had known this is how it would have turned out with Alex's dad.. I never would have put his name on the birth certificate. My husband and I have been together since Alex was 6 months old. My husband is the only dad he has ever known. I would gladly walk away from the piddly child support we get, just to be done with him already.

Sux that he is so inconsistant. Since he seems to pop in & out of your life at random, maybe next time he pops in you could float the idea of voluntarily surrendering parental rights (and any child support committment) to clear the way for your DH to formally adopt Alex?

Alex is big/old enough to know the difference between biological father & dad, and it seems your DH is the only dad hes ever known -- likewise any change in legal status won't ever change who his biological father is. Just an idea, don't know if Alex's father would be the type to agree or be difficult. Maybe speak to a family lawyer to find out what would be needed to do all that.....

Even though I like the carriers, I prefer the stroller at WDW for the bulk of the time. I have the Rayshade and it gives him the best protection from the sun. I'm always worried about sun exposure (especially since a couple of years ago, I had a large chunk of my arm removed:scared1:)...probably overprotective, but I can't help it. Even with hats and lots of sunscreen I worry.

The carrier is nice for waiting in lines though (and for shopping)!:goodvibes

I got a Rayshade at Marshalls for $3! :thumbsup2
MIL had issues with skin cancer, so we are very careful (or we will be! lol haven't really needed to worry yet!)

Okay, those of you with the mesh feeder!

How do you get those things clean?!?!?! I've run it through the dishwasher, tried to clean it by hand... but it's still not "clean"... grrr!

I'm so glad we got through that stage fast. That thing drove me nuts. :rotfl:I used the scrubby side of a sponge on it once and that seemed to work pretty well. The mom who invents one that cleans up easily will make a lot of money.:thumbsup2
