Like Fred said maybe you will be able to just upgrade at check-in. I would just wait and see...if the cost is that much more you could call room service eveyday and still not come close to a 175% increase.

Does the resorts have any "special" holiday activities? I'm trying to decide between October and December (but leaning towards Oct). If WL had anything special for its guest during the holidays it may sway my thoughts?

Yeah

I got the AP rate for room only at $121.54 with tax

Concierge with AP rate is $270 a night my math was a little off it is about 143% more but still justified for us, we'll wait and see if the dust id flying, either way I am just happy and grateful to be taking this vacation at all.

Thanks Dave

My DH and DS4 and I will be visiting the Lodge Jan. 5-9 for the first time! Actually the first time any of us has stayed at a Disney resort and we are soooo glad it will be at WL. It is also DS's first trip to WDW and I know he will love the WL theme. Does anyone know if the tree or any holiday decorations might still be up when we arrive since it is so soon after New Year's.

Your family is going to LOVE WL!! Be sure to eat at Whispering Canyon! Tell your server you are REALLY thirsty and need a llaarrrggee glass of water! :teeth:

I don't know abt the decorations. I'm sure someone else will know.

I am being told there is a chance they will be there as late as the 10th or 11th depending on tear down schedules....we're hoping for the same as we arrive on the 10th! :)

Thanks so much for the welcome and the info. about decorations. I have been reading your WL threads for the past 3 months and I've learned so much from all of you!! I was able to get the winter discount code rate for a Woods View and I requested bunk beds and MK view if possible. I did have to split the reservation with one night at a AAA rate. Will I have a problem checking out and checking back in again? I'm hoping to be able to stay in the same room.

I've also made PS's and WC is definitely on the list! Sounds like a lot of fun, especially for DS!

My experience with split ressies is they allow you to keep the same room. What I do is make sure that each reservation has a note stating that there is another reservation for the same hotel and have the dates listed just to be sure.

Then the rest is handled by the front desk.

Good luck! :)

Okay, if I want to be at the rope drop at MK on an EE day, and I'm staying WL, what time should I leave my hotel room by?

Thanks!!

Sorcha

...oughtta do it! [LOL:teeth:]

Seriously, the boat is 8-11 minutes. If MK opens at 8AM for EE, then I'd be at the dock by 7:40, to allow for walking time....hope this helps!

sorchamac

To be at the rope drop I would be at the boat dock by 7:15am to catch the first boat to the MAGIC KINGDOM. This will give you time to get through Security, rent a stroller, purchase tickets or activate any passes.

Note: If you feel adventurous and your out on the dock early, and don't see the large Green Flag Boat coming from Ft. Wilderness but if the smaller Blue Flag Boat is at the dock and going to the Contemporary Resort (just ask the Captian where he/she is going) you could jump on and take a quick ride over to the CR and walk to the MAGIC KINGDOM it's a easy walk and takes about 20 minutes. Just walk toward the Tower building but don't go inside stay to the right, walk toward the North Wing parking lot then follow the sidewalk to the MAGIC KINGDOM

Sorry HughJackman'n'me I didn't see your post before I answered...I typed my responce then had breakfast before I sent it. I based my answer on sorchamac arriving on the week-end after Thanksgiving which is a busy time of year.

Hey you three recent posters!!! Thank you for that discussion. I have all itinerary planned and didn't think to ask you great WL folks who have actually done this. I have planned this trip TWICE due to Ivan and am getting planning-weary. Hope that a break from the details will freshen up my brain.

I find that foot-step-conservation at WDW is so-o-o-o important in ouchie prevention that I think we will boat straight to MK. That walk to MK from CR is very nice but, then it adds to the total daily trek. For a short trip, we will ride in style!

hey Magic or anyone for that matter...
If for some unforsaken reason i need to get on the internet
during my stay in uh,,,,,,,34 days,,,,, do the villas have wireless?

Also do u think its too late to book a sleigh ride?

I don't think they have wireless, but I tried to connect in July through dialup and got a terrible connection.

The Villas have high speed internet access. You will need an Ethernet connection cable. I brought my own, but you can obtain one on loan from Housekeeping. The cost is $9.95 for 24-contiguous hours and is billed to your room. I used this service in May and the service was great.

Also, I booked the sleigh ride for November 30 just last week.
