Hello
I have to tell you..I registered just to be able to join in this thread!
My family and I.. DH..DD's 12 and 10 have been to the WL 7 times now. Our last stay was 12/05 and we stayed Concierge. Our next trip will be 8/06..also Concierge. We have decided that the extra $ for the level is justified by the amount of relaxing we did in the peace and quiet up there..on the sofas just sitting around and taking it all in
And OK..the desserts in the evening don't hurt either
I've gotten SO much good info off of this thread..so I thought I'd join so that instead of just reading..I can offer my help and comments also. I have to say..for those who have the least little bit of worry about the condition of the lodge..stop looking at the wallpaper..the carpet... the beds. They are all going to have some issues..if you housed so many people..for so many years..you wouldn't be flawless either (which by the sounds of things I've read here.. a make over will happen). Instead of looking "down"..look "UP" and enjoy all this beautiful resort has to offer! We've tried to stay other places..but it just isn't the same..we are hooked!
I've also noticed some people asking specific questions regarding the Concierge level. I've stayed there recently..so thought I'd chime in. When I stayed there in December..the new lounge was open (never stayed there pre-lounge)..and I found the sitting areas around the railings to be so wonderful and relaxing. I wouldn't want to be cooped up on a "lounge room"..when one of my favorite things about the Lodge is the lobby. I wouldn't want to sit anywhere else enjoying my breakfast or snacks. When we were there in December..one of our favorite activities while at the resort was sitting on the sofas and listening to the musicians playing Christmas music in the lobby. With our eyes set on that breathtaking tree and decorations in the lobby and listening to the music..we enjoyed every moment of it! As far as the lounge food/drink offerings..here's what we had, we only stayed 4 nights in December, as we split our stay..so I'm definitely looking forward to our 8 nights!
Breakfast. (each day, was the same)
*Blueberry and Chocolate Chip muffins (the mini kind..not full sized)
*Bagels (mini kind) flavors were: sesame, plain, poppy seed. A toaster was available as was cream cheese, butter, jelly, and peanut butter
*4 cereals, Frosted Flakes, Corn Flakes, Froot Loops and Cheerios
*A pastry, usually filled with apple or cherry
*Croissants (some mornings, not every morning)]
*Fresh fruit
*Coffee, different kinds of tea, hot cocoa, chocolate milk, white milk, orange and apple juice
Afternoon Snacks: (each day the same)
* Fresh Fruit
* Gummi Bears
* Nuts
* Pretzels
* Chocolate Chip or Sugar Cookies
Also..an assortment of sodas and juices was available in the fridge.
Evening Appetizers: Each day there was bread, butter, cheeses, vegetables and dip, some red pepper dip and crackers and fresh fruit. Then each day the following would change.
Day 1 (Wednesday)
* Soup - Hearty Vegetable
* Appetizers - Buffalo Chili
Day 2 (Thursday)
* It was a cream soup and the concierge thought a "sausage" dish..we weren't here for this, this night.
Day 3 (Friday)
* Soup - Potato Cheese
* Appetizer - Salmon Pot Pie
Day 4 (Saturday)
* Soup - Hearty Vegetable
* Appetizer - Pulled Pork
Evening Desserts:
Each night there were brownies, cookies and magic cookie bars..and one hot dessert.
It would vary..between apple crisp and a blackberry/blueberry cobbler type dish. Very delicious.
