The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Hello :wave2:

I have to tell you..I registered just to be able to join in this thread! ;) My family and I.. DH..DD's 12 and 10 have been to the WL 7 times now. Our last stay was 12/05 and we stayed Concierge. Our next trip will be 8/06..also Concierge. We have decided that the extra $ for the level is justified by the amount of relaxing we did in the peace and quiet up there..on the sofas just sitting around and taking it all in :goodvibes And OK..the desserts in the evening don't hurt either :) I've gotten SO much good info off of this thread..so I thought I'd join so that instead of just reading..I can offer my help and comments also. I have to say..for those who have the least little bit of worry about the condition of the lodge..stop looking at the wallpaper..the carpet... the beds. They are all going to have some issues..if you housed so many people..for so many years..you wouldn't be flawless either (which by the sounds of things I've read here.. a make over will happen). Instead of looking "down"..look "UP" and enjoy all this beautiful resort has to offer! We've tried to stay other places..but it just isn't the same..we are hooked!

I've also noticed some people asking specific questions regarding the Concierge level. I've stayed there recently..so thought I'd chime in. When I stayed there in December..the new lounge was open (never stayed there pre-lounge)..and I found the sitting areas around the railings to be so wonderful and relaxing. I wouldn't want to be cooped up on a "lounge room"..when one of my favorite things about the Lodge is the lobby. I wouldn't want to sit anywhere else enjoying my breakfast or snacks. When we were there in December..one of our favorite activities while at the resort was sitting on the sofas and listening to the musicians playing Christmas music in the lobby. With our eyes set on that breathtaking tree and decorations in the lobby and listening to the music..we enjoyed every moment of it! As far as the lounge food/drink offerings..here's what we had, we only stayed 4 nights in December, as we split our stay..so I'm definitely looking forward to our 8 nights!

Breakfast. (each day, was the same)

*Blueberry and Chocolate Chip muffins (the mini kind..not full sized)
*Bagels (mini kind) flavors were: sesame, plain, poppy seed. A toaster was available as was cream cheese, butter, jelly, and peanut butter
*4 cereals, Frosted Flakes, Corn Flakes, Froot Loops and Cheerios
*A pastry, usually filled with apple or cherry
*Croissants (some mornings, not every morning)]
*Fresh fruit
*Coffee, different kinds of tea, hot cocoa, chocolate milk, white milk, orange and apple juice

Afternoon Snacks: (each day the same)
* Fresh Fruit
* Gummi Bears
* Nuts
* Pretzels
* Chocolate Chip or Sugar Cookies
Also..an assortment of sodas and juices was available in the fridge.

Evening Appetizers: Each day there was bread, butter, cheeses, vegetables and dip, some red pepper dip and crackers and fresh fruit. Then each day the following would change.

Day 1 (Wednesday)
* Soup - Hearty Vegetable
* Appetizers - Buffalo Chili

Day 2 (Thursday)
* It was a cream soup and the concierge thought a "sausage" dish..we weren't here for this, this night.

Day 3 (Friday)
* Soup - Potato Cheese
* Appetizer - Salmon Pot Pie

Day 4 (Saturday)
* Soup - Hearty Vegetable
* Appetizer - Pulled Pork

Evening Desserts:
Each night there were brownies, cookies and magic cookie bars..and one hot dessert.

It would vary..between apple crisp and a blackberry/blueberry cobbler type dish. Very delicious.

Thanks LisaRN for the great concierge info! We are staying on Club level for the first time next December, and it was wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed it :) I also really appreciate the food listing...something we seem obsessed about here at our house, even though we'd pretty much be happy with whatever they offered.

So, is anyone else dying to see what the new refurb furniture, bedspreads, other decs will look like? I'm so curious to see what they come up with, and I wonder if they'll find a solution to the beds that everyone bumps their shins on!

WELCOME to the DIS and The Wilderness FAQ Thead.

It's always nice to meet someone else that loves the Lodge. Please feel free to post and answer any question others may have. My next trip to stay at the Lodge is June but each trip is always wonderful.

Thanks for the Concierge Review.

Oh me, me, :wave: I can't wait to see the new rooms. When I go in June I'm going to try my best to sneak in one of the new rooms and try and get some photo's.

As far as the beds...I feel your not a true WL Vet, untill you have done the Late Night "MY TOE SHUFFLE" as you jump around the room.

We are going with another family in Nov. If we make separate ressies, can we request adjoining rooms, somehow linking the two ressies together? Or could we just do it at check-in. The reason for separate ressies is because they want to book with package (dining) now, but I only want to book room only in case a discount comes out for room only. It is my understanding that if I book a package, it would have to be a package deal to come out to use it (am I understanding that right)? TIA

Ash&abby'smom

Yes you can link both reservations, since you will be booking room only have your friends make their reservations first.

Then you can make your reservations and add their reservation # to your request. As your reservation # may change have them wait until you know for sure what your # will be before they add yours to theirs. Remember it will only be a request not guaranteed. Hope you have a great trip.

Boy, Beckie:

I was thinking the same thing. Sneaky minds think alike!! ;)

I was actually thinking when we go over in May to ask if we could see one. Maybe if I bring some of my brownies as a "bribe". :smooth: Ah, I will probably just bring them brownies anyway!! They were a big hit. I was going to try and make some for this weekend if we go to the Magic Kingdom.

Well, I for one would be MOST grateful if you two could do the "detective" work and give us first hand accounts..or pics of all the new furnishings! :cool1: I doubt they will be done with the 7th floor by late August when I arrive, but maybe I will get lucky! :woohoo: Besides, if it isn't done yet..it gives me more reasons to return to CL in 2007. Not that I need reasons mind you, but it's nice to have available all those you can muster! :smooth:

From what I heard, barring any delays, I think the renovations were to be completed by the end of July 2006. :banana:

That would be nice as we are staying there the end of October!!! :love:

REALLY??? I would be so excited to get a rennovated room this June, how cool would that be. I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere other than in this thread though, are any other sites reporting this yet?

You and I are so much alike we could be sisters. Hope you and Marcel can drive over this week-end as always it would be great to see you both.

VERY GOOD POST! Glad to see it. Pretty in depth about food offerings. Perhaps this should be added to master posting with lodge details?

Well just remember...Where ya heard it first. Other sites can't post information until they receive official notification from Disney. We can share information here anytime.

From what I was told a couple of weeks ago, the renovations should start in April so we can gauge the timing from there. :thumbsup2

Always remember, things can change by the minute. Only time will tell. :hourglass

I was also told that they do have a "prototype" room ready, but that isn't being revealed even to the cast members yet.

Well that is such good news to hear a hopeful completion by 7/2006 as it will be wonderful to stay in a new room in August! :cool1: I'm not going to count on it..as you said..things do change, but will keep my fingers crossed!

Our countdown is just over a month away finally. Reading all the posts are really getting exciting. The possiblity of a new room or even an old room would be ok with me. Oh to be warm and lounging by the pool!

Our tickers read the same! I just can't wait to get out of cold old NY. I only hope that the room restorations don't take away from our trips.

:sad1: Reading all the concierge stuff. After reading everything a couple of weeks ago I tried to upgrade. There was nothing available. I'm hoping to upgrade when we get there. Any thoughts on how lucky I'll be?

Have a magical day,
Anna

Well..I am not sure how lucky you will be..but I will certainly cross my fingers for you!! Now a warning..once you stay Concierge...you might be like me..and never think you can staying anything but Concierge again! :teeth: I would keep calling..there may be cancellations. What was neat, after we went through the guard shack, someone from Concierge was waiting for us as we got out of the car! By booking ahead of time..and not having to wait until check-in..you'd get to experience that. Then we were told to take our time settling into our room and then come to the Concierge desk to check in. Since I had a surprise waiting for my DD's in the room (they had just received their Black Belts..and I bought them Black Belt Mickey plushes..in a Christmas stocking filled with goodies..and balloons)..it was nice to be able to enjoy that moment before taking care of the "business" stuff. In any event.. good luck!!

WOW What a great thread!! :thumbsup2

I'm hopeing that I can get through all of these posts before my 1st trip to the WLV's in May.

I have been to the WL..browsing around and eaten at WC and AP having wonderful meals and am looking for tips on what else not to miss while I'm there.
Are there any specific places I should look for the "Highlights" of the WL??? :confused3
