Thank you for asking, Beth :). It's going pretty well. It's a very challenging job, especially since this is my first year. The kids are so cute, though. Right know I'm grading reading tests.

After tomorrow, I'll have a whole week off---a perk of being a teacher ;).

Have a great Thanksgiving, Beth!

Hi all you WL vets!

I just changed our reservation from the Contemporary Junior Suite to 2 rooms at the WL (Mom and sister will be joining us).

I have been trying to read all I can about the WL, and one thing that I see some people complain about is the transportation. We will have a rental car, so I'm not concerned about getting to the other parks. I guess my question is, is the boat transportation to the MK about the same as boat transporation from BWV/BCV to MGM or Epcot? I was a little nervous about that aspect, but we've stayed at the BW twice before and have never had a problem with boat transportation.

BTW, hello :wave2: to my fellow teachers out there. I teach Kindergarten.

Thanks

Welcome to the Wilderness Lodge FAQ Thread. I always wonder about the people that have problems with the transportation from Wilderness Lodge. I wonder if they have ever stayed over at the EPCOT area and had to share a bus and boat system with six other major resorts.

I have never had any problems with the transportation at the Lodge, would I prefer not to have to wait on a boat or bus yes...is that going to happen every trip no.

The large Green Flag Boats operate on a continuous loop (like the launches over at MGM/S&D/YC/BC/BCV/BWI/BWV/EPCOT) in the a.m. the boat picks up at Ft. Wilderness Campground, then Wilderness Lodge then the Magic Kingdom. (The ride from WL to Magic Kingdom takes about 10 minutes but you have to add boarding and disembarking this can add a few minutes each stop) In the afternoon the loop reverses it is Magic Kingdom, Wilderness Lodge then Ft. Wilderness Campground this makes for less transportant time for guest staying at Wilderness Lodge going and coming back.

Now this is where the controversy is, if you are a guest at the Lodge and want to go to the Magic Kingdom in the afternoon after the reversal of the system has taken place you are going to have to ride the boat to Ft. Wilderness Campground then the Magic Kingdom. Making for a 20 minute ride, plus the loading and disembarking which can make for a 30 minute trip. Anyone that has riden the boat from MGM to the Boardwalk knows what that can be like. It all depends on your state-of-mind if you enjoy the ride for the scenic beauty it will be a great experience, if you are chomping at the bit to arrive at the Magic Kingdom to see all the sites, make a PS or parade, it can seem like slow torture.

The Green Flag Boats start operating about an hour before the park opens...so the first boat reaches the Lodge at either 7:20am on EMH or 8:20am for regular openings.

The Blue Flag Boats I call them the Resort hoppers, they travel from The CR, Wilderness Lodge and Ft Wilderness also on a continuous loop between the resorts but can go either direction, so alway ask the Captain which resort they are going to. Some will take you to the resort you are traveling to if they can because it's a less used service. They operating from 7:00am-10:00pm.

Now after all the boat information There is something new...

Starting Sunday, November 14th (no posted end date), Disney Transport will be testing out a new route for the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.

Currently, there is a bus from the Transportation & Ticket Center to Wilderness Lodge, and Fort Wilderness. As of Sunday, this bus will no longer exist.

Instead, there will be DIRECT BUS SERVICE from Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom.

So now there will be an additional way to get to and from the Magic Kingdom, besure to check with guest services for any changes that may happen before your trip.

I don't ever feel the need to drive my car to any of the parks from The Wilderness Lodge because the bus service is easier. Even though you may share the bus with one other resort, the last few times I have stayed at the Lodge the MGM and AK bus has shared with the Grand Floridan. We have also shared a bus with Ft Wilderness Campground but it has been a while ago.

The only place I drive to is DTD, I drive no matter where I'm staying.

Have a MAGICAL TRIP.

Love the Bear Face rooms Best of two worlds you have the beautiful Lobby with the Christmas Tree when you step out of your room, plus the view overlooking Silver Creek and Bay lake from your balcony.

To learn more about the Lodge I would suggest going back to page one of this thread we have compiled most of the important facts on the Wilderness Lodge there and often refer new guest to read over the first page to become familiar with all the activities avalabile at the Lodge. On the second post toward the bottom I have even included the activities that are conveniently located over at the Campground, guest with small children love to visit the petting zoo, or pony rides.

Ask any question you need here, one of us will try and help.

MAGICinMYHEART thank you for the wonderful detailed description of transportation from WL to MK. That is exactly what I was looking for.

We've stayed at the BWV twice so I know how the boat ride can be from MGM to BWV (most times we got out at Swan/Dolphin and walked).

I think we'll be just fine. I don't think I will be in a rush to get there in the afternoons. The mornings are usually when I am antsy about getting to the parks.

THanks again for all the helpful info.

Thank you, Laura. We too are preparing for a Christmas program. It takes place so much earlier--December 7 at 7 PM. AHHH  :earseek: :faint: ! Not enough time! The first grade and kindergarten classes just did a prayer service together yesterday, so that was a lot to prepare for. For the Christmas program, we've already started practicing the poem they will recite and the song/dance they will perform; they know the poem, not the dance  .

We are going to the Lodge Sunday, February 6, 2005, and leaving Thursday, February 10, at about 7:30 PM. We'll have about 5 days/4 nights. I cannot wait! Two other teachers are going to WDW during that time as well.

Many hugs to you and your students :grouphug: . Tell GDH another teacher says "HI"!

Hi guys!
I have a question about Bear face rooms. What are they? I read on a post to request one. I am looking for a good courtyard view with bunkbeds. Can anyone help me out with a good #? We will be in our a lot because my 3 and 5 yr. old kids go to bed early. Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Tara:wave2:

Taratink

These are the rooms that have the Inner Courtyard View but also are off the Lobby. All this really means is that when looking back at the lodge from the pool it appears to be the face of a bear. The two dormer windows are the eyes (clear at the top of the lobby section), nose is peak section. You have to use your imagination!!! But we all love the BEAR FACE ROOMS.

That is so cute. Do you know if any of those rooms have bunkbeds? If I request a bear face room will they know what I am talking about? Or should I just ask for an inner courtyard room? evertime I see a picture of the WL I get so excited. We have never stayed at a WDW resort as a family before. I can't wait for my kids to see the waterfalls and all of the other great things.
Thanks!

Tara

You already have your request for Inner Courtyard View, so request a Lobby room and this should cover it...not sure which if any rooms have bunk beds...Sorry...Betsy may know but she is visitng WDW now. She should be back next week maybe she will read and post you an answer or another Vet may know.

Hello WL lovers

I have a question about a room request.

I booked a Woods View room, and the only request that I made is that it opens onto the Lobby. Actually, I made this request about 25 minutes later after hanging up with th CM that booked my room :teeth:.

Can anyone tell me about the locations of these rooms that fit these criteria?? I'm very curious about this, and any info you can give would be great!

Thanks in advance!

:wave2:

I answered my own question by reading page 1 of this thread: Floors 4,5 & 6 above Whispering Canyon are Woods View Lobby rooms.

How are the outside views of these rooms??

Thanks in advance!

:wave2:

Erika

From page 1:
WOODS VIEW: These rooms are located above the front desk on floors 5 & 6. North side woods view rooms are on floors 1-6 and face the "otter pond"(a handful face MK). Floors 4,5 & 6 above Whispering Canyon are Woods View Lobby rooms.

I would request 6th floor and you should have a view of the Castle and WISHES

I was posting as you were answering your own question...

:p  :rotfl: Thanks, Beckie!! Should I call now, or when it gets closer to our departure?

Erika

I would go ahead and call, you may get busy. I was on the phone yesterday for about 45 minutes getting all my request added, changes to other resevations and canceling one reservation I originally booked at rack rate before the discount codes came out...I had forgotten about it. So I just received a $500.00 credit on my cc :p

Be sure to go over everything with the CM and verify your balance due before you let them go.

Sometimes they mix things up when they make a change. The CM I had yesterday managed to cancel my upcoming trip while canceling the rack rate reservation :confused3 Then added the $500.00 credit to that existing reservation...but it didn't show the correct balance. I just stayed on the line until we had everything correct.
