You're not the only one....I don't like the brown and blue either....I really liked the old bedspreads SO much better, and the new TV/drawer thingy just looks tacky to me :guilty:

I think maybe I had my hopes up too high since I have really, REALLY liked the re-dos that were done at the CR and the Poly.

Like you, I still love the Lodge, but I can't say I'm not a little disappointed.

Add me to the list of the non-enchanted....I think I am going to ask for a nonrenovated room at check in next week (won't that be a surprise to some cast member!).
I have this nostalgic fondness for the old beds, which I fractured one of my toes on during the last stay.

Does anyone know if there is a picture of the view in a standard room??

I'll be going down Sep 3 - Sep 9 for a solo trip and have a standard room booked. I normally stay in the Villas as this is my home resort but I'm saving my points until next year for a family vacation. I'm also hoping to ask for a room upgrade when I check in, even if I have to pay for it, although hopefully it will be a free upgrade!! :teeth:

Is there anywhere at the WL to buy a case of bottled water?

We will be there June 30 to July 8 so it will be hot. I don't want to buy lots of very expensive little bottles of water and I've heard that the tap water isn't very good. Since we will flying in and using ME we won't be able to carry much with us.

Both the seating area and the food area have both been enlarged. The registers have been moved and with the placement of the items it seems like a much less congested area. It feels more like a food court though definitely not as large as any of the regular food courts.

Think larger on a WL scale not a AKL scale.

Hope this helps.

LisRN,

IMO, I liked the old Roaring Forks better.

We were there last weekend. It's bigger but not much different. The new salads are nice but other hot food usually sits there for a while instead of the old way. I'm not sure I like that.

People don't know where to get in line and the cash registers seem more crowded.

:confused3

ETA,

The seating is exactly the same. They now have a few tables out in the hallway.

Last year when we flew and use ME I packed an extra hard-sided suitcase full of nothing but bottled water, plastic juice bottles (from Welch's) and snacks. It arrived fine, and you don't handle the luggage with ME, it just is in your room so no big deal.

When are they scheduled to be done with the renovations. We are supposed to go to the world in Oct and would love to go back to WL. I would really like to stay in the renovated room. Thanks for any responses.

Any one stay in a standard room and have a room number/ area to suggest we request? :confused3 Is there a data base of rooms somewhere?
Thanks,

Luckydis :wave2:

Hey...we're both from the "real" New York! Not that crazy place downstate somewhere :lmao:

DW and I grew up in Cleveland and frequently travel to the Midwest, so we've passed by many a time!

BTW...if you have booked a Standard View at WL, you are VERY likely to get a free upgrade at check-in. There are fewer than 50 Standard Rooms out of over 700 in the Lodge, and Disney books way more than 50 Standards per night. So, lots of people are happy about an upgrade at check-in...and have paid the lower rate for a Standard!

Of course, you may wind up with a Standard (who knows...we may at the end of June), but from all I've read, I think the "worst" Standard Room in the place would be perfectly OK with us.

Good luck in your planning!

You lucky gal, October is the best time of the whole year to visit WDW, all the renovations will be completed by your arrival date. Have a GREAT TRIP.
