What kinds of traditions do you have when you go to WL?

We ring the cow bell, outside the game room,
We sit at the fireplace,
We go into Territory Lounge for an adult beverage and some Venison Spring Rolls - Yum!
We feed the bunnies by the pool,
We like to relax on the 4th floor by the fireplace in the comfy couch,
We watch the water parade from the beach,
and take a picture of our son by the totem pole as his growth chart!

I'm so excited to get there, it helps to talk about it!
Hope you don't mind!!!!! :teeth:

So what is different about Roaring Forks now? Is it bigger? More offerings? In a new location?

It's still in the same area..just set up differently. It's been rehabbed so the area where you buy the food, has been remodeled and rearranged. The food offerings have also changed. Though I think many things are the same, they have some new offerings on the menu. They were redoing the dining area also..I am not sure what that looks like. I don't think either area is any "bigger" as they only have the same area to work with. But, I could be wrong.

This link was posted before, but for those of you that missed it, here are some pictures of the food service area redone:

New Roaring Forks

Everything is laid out better so there is more floor space.

I hope someone going soon gets some pictures of the new seating area and posts them also.

At the "New Roaring Forks" can you get simple items like PB&J, regular turkey and cheese sandwich, hot dog, simple salad??

Any detailed info. on the menu items would be greatly appreciated - other than what we can see from the pics posted.

THANKS!! :)

Thanks for that link to the pics. I missed it somehow when reading back through parts of this thread getting excited about our trip in a few weeks. I will take pictures of the seating area while I am there! And of course I'll be taking a picture of us by Humphrey's pole! Got that one last time, and even got the replica photo holder in the mercantile. So cute! :)

I'm sad to report..I just confirmed with the Concierge..that Roaring Forks no longer has chili or nacho chips :( They were really something that was part of being at the WL to us.. how sad :( Oh well.. I'm nearing the double digit mark! :cool1:

I hate to hear that the nachos and chili are gone too. We visited WL and ate at Roaring Forks last November, and I got the chili and the kids got nachos. That chili was great and I was looking forward to getting it again this December. Maybe it will come back by then...... :confused3

Well, it's official! We will be visiting WL for the first time 9/24 - 10/1. You have no idea (well, maybe you do) how excited I am!!! I'm hoping we will like it as much as we think we will.

I requested non-smoking, bunk beds in the North Building overlooking the pool. Courtyard view is what we have booked. I also noted on the reservation that we'll be celebrating our 10th Anniv. on 9/28. Hoping for pixie dust (or at least my room requests be met). Trying not to get my hopes up. :wizard:

With all the talk about Roaring Forks, I'm wondering if we'll be dissappointed with it? We loved the food-court at POFQ. Does anyone know how it compares to that one? Seems like alot less items on the menu here. Why would they have less items on the menu at such a big - deluxe resort?

I'll keep checking these boards for more info. You guys are really a wealth of knowledge.

I have to be sure to add WCC to my list of ADRs. We love it there.

Thanks for all the info!!!

I personally enjoy Roaring Forks. In fact, they have some new items on their menu like yogurt parfaits in the morning and made to order sandwiches. Some of the old favorites are gone (they no longer have their chicken wrap :sad2: ), but I think we will still enjoy the food.

You have to remember that it is called Roaring Forks "Snacks" and not "Food Court" so it is a little different than that of POR or POFQ in that it is smaller and has less to pick from. I think that is because they have Whispering Canyon. Many get upset when they get there because they think it is a regular Food Court because they are used to the Values/Moderates.

I think their selection is very ample. You will not have a problem with selection. :) In fact, even when I stayed Conceirge, I had to go down and get one of those wraps!!

I agree. You cannot compare Roaring Forks to the value or moderate food courts...it's not like that at all, not nearly the selection. It does, however, have all the fast food staples (or did last time I was there)..like hot dogs, burgers, fries, pizza and then some specialty of the day (like Philly Cheesesteaks). They used to have a couple of soups too..but seeing as they got rid of the chili..I am not sure they have a soup of the day anymore. They have a nice variety of desserts like brownies and the ever enticing "magic cookie bars" :cloud9:

You're welcome.

I look forward to seeing your pics of the seating area.

My kids rubbed Humphrey's nose every time they walked by him :) We bought the statue of Humphrey's totem pole. It's now on top of our entertainment center so I get to look at it every night while watching TV and dream of being at the Lodge :goodvibes

As you can see from my sig I like the visual :smooth:

I have the same thing..right in my living room..on the table in front of my window.

I know I don't stop by much but thought I'd let you all know what's going on at WL.

We just got home from WL on Saturday after our 14th stay there since it opened in 94'. All I can say is that more changes are in pogress. Last Monday the 24th, the 6th floor of the North wing was closed off for remodeling. We could see them taking roll after roll of carpeting out for days. All of the curtains were taken down and they were starting to move furniture by the end of the week. They said this will be down most of May.

Roaring Forks. I don't know if we are the only ones to say this but, they should have left it alone. The hot food items are still ordered in the same spot as before. There is a glass front case that has dishes of Cheeseburgers, Fries, Chicken Strips and Bacon (yes bacon). The thing is, if you happen to arrive for a burger or something and one or two are in the dish, you get one of those, not a fresh cooked one. And yes, the bacon could have ben there since breakfast. The beverage cooler is still the same, they still have fruit cups, veggie cups, PBJ. The big cookies and brownies are stil there, just not the variety there used to be. The new sandwich counter is where the ice cream cooler and checkout, used to be. If you like bread you'll enjoy this counter. You get about 1 1/2" of bread on top and bottom and aout 1/4" of stuff inbetween, but you can add to it with other items if you'd like. But the sandwiches are off the wall and DW almost got sick off one. Won't do that again. They now have soft serve ice cream and yogurt that you can get yourself. Mug drinks are still free, and just so you know we still use the ones we bought back in 94' each time we go with no troubles. The seating area is the same. All they did was put in a smaller fixins' bar and turned some of tables. They also put a couple two person table that were along the windows, outside in the hallway. Like I said, to us it was better the way it was. The do however still have chili. They do not have hot dogs, nachos, philly cheese steak, just to mention a few favorites gone from the menu. The previous posted photo's show it all very well.

After saying this we did have great time again. Did flag family on the 25th, that was fun. We stayed in 5034 for 8 days and enjoyed it all.

I hope your next WL visit is a Magical one!

We just booked our stay for 9/30-10/6. :cool1: We will be celebrating dd's 6th birthday. :cheer2: Another family is going with us, so there will be eight of us. We booked 2 woodsview rooms. Hopefully we can get connecting, it will make it nice for the kids to be able to go back and forth. We can't wait to go back. I even think dh might be a tad bit excited.
