The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

We are checking in early (8 AM hopefully) so I'm sure our rooms won't be ready. Will they tell us our room locations at that time though?

Can't wait!!!

Good Morning WL Vets~
I am stying (for the first time) at the WL in August 2008. I have two children (ages 8, and age 5) and a DH. Anyway, I have booked and paid for my room at the WL and received an emailed itinerary and confirmation stating that I booked a woodview with bunk beds. My kids have their hearts set on bunk beds (its the simple things...). Does this mean I automatically have bunk beds, or should I keep confirming?
Also, what things at the WL should I not miss. I really want to be a flag family (and I am hoping that because my husband came back from Iraq- the story might help). But what else should I not miss while we stay there?
I want to take a boat to the fireworks- whcih should I choose? What times do they leave? And, will I be back in tiem for the water pageant?

Is there something I should call about before I arrive? Has anyone used the Cub's Den childcare? What is the security like at the childcare facility?
ANy advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also.. sorry for the length... would this be the appropriate thread to ask if someone wanted to share a boat? When it gets closer to reservation time.

1. With the new bunkbed system - paying for them - if you reserved them you should be OK.
2. As for the Iraq story to help on Flag Family - unfortunately they simply signup on first come first serve basis. Make sure to ask while you check -in for any openings during your stay.

I can answer a couple questions as we just did bunk beds a couple weeks ago.

If you book bunk beds, you will get bunk beds. It used to be a request only, now they've made it its own category, so you pay more, but you will get it.

Cub's Den. We used it twice last month. Once as a "trial run" for 1.5 hours to see how the kids would like it. and they love it. The second time was for 4.5 hours while we celebrated our annivesary at the Yachtman's Steakhouse. My kids are 5 and 6, now there are other clubs, like Neverland at the Poly which is much much bigger than the one at WL that you may want to check out also.

Mine and DH's thinking was that we kinda wanted to be alone and didn't want to travel with the kids, so we left them at our resort. We were on a 2 week vacation and needed some downtime:rotfl: Now next year, that may change and we might bring them to the resort we are dining at - we'll just have to wait and see.

The security bothered me a little tiny bit, as you didn't have to be buzzed to get in - they have these huges bells on the door (kinda like a mom and pop store does), and that's how the CM's are notified that someone is in there. I spent some time with the CM during the trial run and I felt good about leaving the kids.

One more question before I drive everyone batty. I want to request "inner courtyard" if I want to overlook the main pool and Bay Lake, correct? I want to be sure to have this added to our reservation when I make my deposit.

That would be correct, otherwise you may have a nice view of the villas. And you can add it anytime, doesn't have to be when you make the deposit.

I always get confused when people are worried by this..... I believe that unless you are on the ground floor and need to nap during the day you will be allset.

I have always had a courtyard and never had a problem with noise. We have brought our chilredn every year since the youngest was 3 and now she is 8, so we certainly have hit the napping stage and still noise was never an issue. I think you will be fine anywhere.

This is good to know, thanks! We will need to do naps during the day but it is my DH that really has a hard time sleeping with noise. He hears everything!

This is good to know. May not have that option as I have an accessible courtyard view. Not sure where that room will be, but hey, I'll be at the WL and my TA was able to get the recent code applied to our reservations giving me $270 to spend on Disney goodies. Life is pretty sweet!:thumbsup2

We might look into being a Flag Family this time around. What time in the morning do you meet for this? Want to make sure it's not way too early before I try to book it.;)

8 AM is when you meet in the lobby for it. Good luck trying to get a spot - we tried at check-in in June and it was booked for 10 days.

If being Flag Family is all booked when you check in ask to be put on the waiting list. That's how we were able to be Flag Family back in 2005.

At check in on a Sat. it was book for our entire 10 day stay. The CM asked if we wanted to be put on the waiting list. I said yes but I never thought about it again becuase I didn't think there was a chance. Well on Tuesday when we got back to our room there was a message on our phone saying there was an opening the next morning. Of course I couldn't get down to the lobby fast enough to confirm:cool1:

Hi! I know all the questions I have were probably already answered in this thread - but at 466 pages, I just couldn't make it through - my kids are only gone for 1 night! :thumbsup2
Ok - we will be staying Thanksgiving week at the AllStar Sports for a UCA cheerleading event (our 12 yo DD will be marching in the pre parade :cheer2: ). Needless to say, we had to book the whole trip with UCA. DH doesn't go every year like we do, so I am trying to make the trip as low stress as possible for him. That said, we won't be driving all night! We would like to dirve on the day before (8 hour trip) and I had hoped to splurge & suprise the kids with a special night at a deluxe resort. DD12 always says she wants to stay at WL - so I knew this would be the place to ask for info!!

Can you see the MK fireworks from the resort? If so, what rooms/areas?

DD19 will be joining us from college - if she can arrange her travel plans to come early do any of the rooms sleep 5?

Concierge/club level - are the kids welcome & comfy or is it a more adult atmosphere - we have never done that at any of the resorts.

TIA!

They don't advertise MK view rooms for WL but there are certain rooms that people have posted about that have MK views, they are limited.

The rooms advertise sleeping 4, 5 with a child under 3.

Concierge (we will be experiencing this for the first time during our next trip) but the deluxe rooms have 2 queens and 1 pull-out sofa, sleeping 5, the snack/food offerings do include items children would enjoy.

For more information, check the first couple of posts on this thread and these additional websites:

Enjoy your trip and Good Luck for you DD. :cheer2:

Will my son, aged 16, be able to hire and ride the sea racers on his own, or will he have to be accompanied by an adult?

Hi everyone..we just got back from our trip to the Poly..and missed the WL SO much!!! We went over to visit though :) I don't think we'll try a different resort again unless it's an absolute "take it or don't go" type thing, as it was this time.

As for your questions, you can see the MK fireworks from "woodsview" category, but request a higher floor. The Club Level would be the highest floor (7th)..and we stay there with our two DD's. I find it very kid friendly and cozy. After staying non-club level at the Poly, I have to say I am spoiled by the CL and don't think I will stay at WL without it being CL. The only rooms that sleep more than 4 people above the age of 3 are the deluxe rooms. A deluxe room does include concierge though :)

It's official!!!! I am booked for June 5-14th, Courtyard view w/bunkbed.

This is a trip with MIL & FIL and we requested connecting/adjoining rooms and inner courtyard. The TA suggesting adding adjoining so we would at least be next to eachother and they are linking the ressies.

And to top it off, I found RT, nonstop tickets from Dayton, OH to MCO for $228 each. Those are now booked as well!

Now I just have 9 1/2 months to dwell on our stay. :dance3:

We will be at WL Dec. 1-5 along with my in-laws. We have a courtyard view bunk bed room for us and are hoping another will come open as my in-laws are now in a 2 queens room. My kids are thrilled about the bunk beds, but I'm suddenly paranoid about someone falling out of the top bunk! How high are the railings? I'm hoping I'm just being overly paranoid, but if anyone has any close-ups of the top bunk, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks!
