Do standard rooms overlook the lobby. I've heard that the noise is load at the end of the day, and makes it hard to get to sleep.:cloud9:

I think we should put this rumor to bed. This IMO is an urban myth. The room that we had 5091 overlooked the lobby, we directly across from WC and we NEVER EVER heard a peep.

I can second that! I think the Unofficial Guide is what makes people think the noise will be bad. It's not. Our room had absolute silence inside.

We were there during free dining in August 2006, and we had the MOST spectacular view of the Courtyard outside, the pool, and Bay Lake! Our room opened right out onto the lobby below (with Whispering Canyon Restaurant diagonally located across from our room). I told my family how sorry I was to put them so close to the lobby, because I had read it would be noisy in the Unofficial Guide.

We never heard a peep unless we stood outside our room and looked down into the lobby. And we loved doing that. The noises were so much fun. Whispering Canyon was a HOOT. I loved looking at everything.

As we explored the resort, we realized the wings are not NEARLY as pretty as being near the lobby. We really got the BEST of the theming at our resort. It was BEAUTIFUL inside the lobby. I felt like that was the best thing about the resort. And as busy as it was, our room was quiet.

I was just browsing iTunes because I knew there was a Wilderness Lodge iMix out there and I was considering uploading it to my iPod to listen to on the way down and I found an IMix list called "Christmas at the Wilderness Lodge" This may help you out... it looks like most of the songs on the list are from "A Windham Hill Christmas" and John Tesh's "A Family Christmas" so I would categorize those as traditional/homey types.

I don't have a URL but if you search for it, you'll find it.

Thank you so much!:flower3:

Wow!! Thanks! You helped us make up our mind-we are definately staying at Wilderness Lodge in the spring.

Do you remember the room number? Just trying to figure out what to say to get this room or one near it. It sounds like the best area to request for a first -timer.:cloud9:

Do any of the woods view rooms face the service area, or are the std view rooms the only ones that do? I was curious because I upgraded to a woods view instead of the std. Thanks!

No, the woods view rooms on the north side are either above the lobby to the west of the service area or above the otter pond to the east of the service area.

Most of the standard view rooms are along the north wing, but there are some on the 4th floor above the front desk facing the roofs toward the villas.

Check out the room lay-out from page 1. http://users.hartwick.edu/heydukr/wlrooms.htm

And I second that! When they gave me our room assignment I was a bit disapointed that we weren't in a wing. Then after about 1 day we realized that this was FAB. Hanging in the lobby and just taking the elevator (or even the stairs)up to our room was great. We were steps away from the busses and the valet for cabs. Now I don't even care what our view is, as long as we are in the main building.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I am pretty sure our room was 5079. I was just looking through my folder for my map and remembered DD was playing with it recently. Not sure where it ended up. I did an internet search for a map with room numbers and found one, though.

We were on the fifth floor and we were right around the corner from an elevator. Here's a map of the rooms at the WL Resort:

We had a view of the courtyard, pool, and Bay Lake outside. It was the perfect room for viewing the Electrical Water Pageant. And we had a beautiful view of the lobby inside. Hope this helps!

You had a Bear Face room!:thumbsup2 I want to try that location sometime.

We are coming to WL in 13 days, have a Courtyard bunk beds booked. I have not called to request an inner courtyard view...we are celebrating our 19th anniversary and thought we may be lucky an get an upgrade....Has anyone ever gotten an up grade from a courtyard view to say a jr suite??? Thinking it might be better to take our chances and not request a specific view...any comments or suggestions???:)

Yes, thank you very much, this does help. It sounds like the ultimate room :cloud9: We are all very excited about our trip.

I haven't heard of anyone upgraded from courtyard to Jr. suite, not to say it hasn't happened...I've heard of more people upgraded to concierge, but that's not too frequent, either. Upgrades from std or woods to courtyard are much more frequent because there are so many courtyard rooms. There aren't many jr. suites. anniversary or not :) If you have a preference for a courtyard view, I'd request that, and hope for (but not count on) pixiedust: for an upgrade. A courtyard view at WL is great in any event!

I just couldn't wait until Dec. to go back home and wasn't sure I could survive the DS4 hounding me every day asking when we are going back (the Dec trip is a surprise to him). Yesterday on impulse I booked a Woods view room for the weekend of Sept 7-8 with a Florida resident discount. :) I was disappointed MK is closing early that weekend (so no fireworks), but the DS loves the monorail and running around the WL so it will be enough to tide him over until our week in Dec. providing no hurricanes come our way that weekend.

We've only stayed in the courtyard and Club level so I'm not really sure what woods view is. I was trying for the cheapest room available and that was all they had. Any view in particular I should ask for even if it is only for 2 nights. Is a request of north wing the best shot at a view of the castle even if there won't be any fireworks?

I don't know if it's worth anything to anybody, but I cancelled a standard room at WL for 12/8/07-12/15/07 if anybody wants to pounce on it.

I'm so excited, I just booked our families first trip to Disney at the WL in a woods view room with a bunk bed for June 1-7. It will be my husband, myself, and our DD6 and DS2 who will be turning 3 during our trip. I just wanted to thank all the people who have posted information an this thread to help me choose WL. I have literally spent all my spare time reading the entire thing over the past two weeks. I can't wait to spend a week a WL. Thanks Again!

Congratualtions! Our December trip will be the first time we've been to WDW with the kids and our first time on site. We are thrilled to be able to stay at the WL. After reading this thread I feel like I know the place inside and out!

I am trying to patiently wait for a quote from DU. :surfweb: We plan to go June 5-14th, courtyard bunkbed and ILs in a courtyard queen. The waiting is killing me!!!!

Is anyone hearing of ANY discounts at the WL with the new PIN Codes and Visa codes? We got a PIN late yesterday and I am DYING to hear back from my TA. Our dates are in the blackout window. Hoping for some pixie dust. I wonder if Southwest will let me change my dates?

I just read on the codes board that someone could not get a AAA discount for June! I hope that is wrong!

I couldn't get anything at the WL with the Visa code from 12/8-12/15.
