Is it really worth it to switch from a std view room to a woods view room? We are currently booked in a std view. What is the approx. difference in $$$. The difference for the CYard is too much for us, so I started thinking about the woods view.

Also, with the woods view, are any of them under or by the service areas, like some rooms in the std view are?

Thanks! :goodvibes

It depends on what is important to you. The woods view rooms typically have a view of the pond (north side) or other woods on the north or south side of the lodge. It is possible they have a view of the MK fireworks through breaks in the trees on the north side. The courtyard view is preferred by many since it has a view of either the waterfall and pool area (inner courtyard) or the Villas pool on the south side of the south wing.

If you want a chance to see the MK fireworks from your balcony but otherwise have a quiet retreat, a Woods view north wing upper floor is your
pick. If you prefer seeing the stream, rocks, waterfall, pool, geyser, and part of the electric water parade, then inner courtyard is for you.

See this link for which rooms have which views. http://users.hartwick.edu/heydukr/wlrooms.htm

Thanks so much for all the info :goodvibes I am sure I will have more questions sooner or later ;)

I have a few questions about the food at WL.

1) Some of the items (not the omelets obviously) strike me as very similar to what they serve at Roaring Fork. Putting aside the convenience factor, is the same type breakfast food any better from room service than Roaring Fork?

2) We usually go down for breakfast around 8:00 am before heading to park opening. How crazy is Roaring Fork around 8 am? Is it hard to get in and get out, to get a table?

Thanks!

It is so busy at breakfast!. Me and my dad go down for breakfast while my sister gets ready and bring it back to the room and eat it on the balcony. We dont have to wait for a table and it's a lot more peaceful :)

We never had a problem getting a table at breakfast, but it can be busy around 8. We're early risers so we usually went down around 7-7:30 - everything is so peaceful. We sometimes ate outside to watch the rabbits and ducks.

Can't help you with room service - didn't need it. Took no more than 10-12 minutes to walk from the room, get my food (or fill my mug), and get back to the room.

Does WL have refillable mugs and if so does anyone have a photo they can post of one.

They do, but unfortunately the distinctive WL mugs have been replaced this year by generic Year of a Million Dreams mugs, the same as all the other resorts. Don't get me wrong, the mugs are nice, but I would have liked to have the WL mug.

There's bound to be a pic of the YOMD mugs on one of the threads. I don't have a picture with me.

That's why I kept mine from last year! :thumbsup2 , but sadly when we returned this year we purchased the new ones.

We are going to be there in December won't A year of million dreams be done than.
Tina

YOMD is supposed to last through December 31, but it's possible the mugs may change by then to a new promo or the WL design. One advantage to the YOMD mugs is that on the mugs it says it may be used at any resort during the length of your stay. We were hot one day and stopped at the Poly and felt no guilt filling and refilling our mugs there. Also used them at CR.

Hi everyone! We just returned from 7 wonderful nights at the lodge. This was our 3rd stay and I don't think I could ever stay anywhere else. We are so in love with this place. It is truly our home away from home!:cloud9: Nothing beats pulling up to the boat dock after a day at the MK and walking up to the lodge! IMO, the most beautiful place to stay at Disney. The kids and I practically cried when we had to leave. We are already talking about our next trip. Hopefully Christmas of 2008. I really want to experience the lodge during the holidays. Although it's hard to believe it could be any more beautiful than it already is!

Hi. My family and I are going to WDW in December. We currently have ressies for the Poly, but are considering switching to WL to save some money (plus we love the WL!). The only problem I forsee is we have two rooms, one with three adults, the other with three adults and an infant. I know the WL rooms are smaller that those at the Poly. Does anyone have any advice/opinions about staying at WL with that many people per room? I do not think we will spend a ton of time in the room, but we will spend some time there (mostly on the balcony and returning mid-day to rest). What do you guys think? Is this doable?

Czechwife: I don't think it's a problem. Bigger rooms would be nice, but like you said, you're not going to spend much time there. There are so many other places to hang out and relax like the lobby, the pool, and Territory Lounge if you feel pent up in the room. The resort begs you to spend time in the public spaces, making one of them your own private space.

Thank you all for all the info. We will not be returning to WDW for 2-3 years but with all your wonderful posts we are thinking of staying here. My dad wants a resort that has more than bus transportation, and the boat to the MK is attractive to him. DMom & DDad can afford any view, but DH and I cannot and probably will only be able to swing standard view. Are the balconies all enclosed or are the some open? Is there a chart or website with all the different rooms and views? Are there standard view/connecting rooms? This may have been answered on the thread, but I haven't made my way through all of the posts yet! Planning in advance helps me to budget how much to save! It will be a nice step-up from Pop! It's a beautiful resort and I can see why you all are so in love with it!!! Maybe we can be too!!

The extra cost for Woods View over a Standard View room range from $25.00 a night more for a room with 2 queen size beds, to $45.00 a night more for a Woods View with 1 queen size bed and a bunk bed. I try to book standard view when available.

The first page on this thread has all the room location views that are available. While none of the Wood View rooms are overlooking the service areas you may see the service areas from some of the Wood View rooms.

There is information on page 1 of this thread that has the room view information.

Most of the rooms have open balconies not the inclosed balconies. Most but not all the inclosed balconies are located on the 6th floor #'s 6000-6034 and 6130-6165

I don't have any idea why this happened, but I just got the biggest butterflies thinking about our trip back to the WL!! And we still have 4 months 2 weeks and 1 day before we get there. I feel so home sick and miss it so much. I know all of you here understand exactly what I'm talking about... Just needed to share. Have a great day!! :goodvibes

Thank you!! This is so helpful!!!

Does anyone have a photo of the boat that goes to the MK? I wasn't able to find one. Thanks if you can post it.
