I don't know if this is the place to ask, but where might I see a detailed map of the rooms in WL VILLAS? We will be making our 1st stay in a studio in the Villas this April, and wondered what type of"views" the balconies offer in the Villas. If this only a Lodge thread, could someone direct me elsewhere?

We have visted the WL the past 2 Decembers, ( dinner at Artitst Pointe, drinks in that wonderful lounge, relaxing in the rockers in front of the fireplace).........:), and felt sooooo comfortable there. More so than any other DVC resort! :goodvibes So we decided our next vist "home" would be in the WL Villas.

Sure this thread also covers the Villas I'm a DVC Member at the Villas. I have additional information on the Villas posted on page 1 of this thread.

Most of the Villas offer a Woods View a few overlook the pool, but 90% have relaxing woods view. When I make my request I only ask too be near the elevators.

If you click on the link below it will take you too a layout of the Villas this information is also posted under my post on page 1.

Villas @ Wilderness Lodge

We reserved a bunk bed - woods view room. So, from reading past messages and looking at the balcony views posted on this page, it looks like we want the North Section (?) and floor 5 or 6 for a view of MK? Thanks to anyone who has insight. I'm putting my room request in on Sunday.

Does anyone ever get a free upgrade to Courtyard View and it is better then seeing MK through the forest and trees :)

I really appreciate the help.

Jen

We are on our countdown 2/28 - 3/4
:dance3:

If you want to see the MK fireworks, you do not want a courtyard view. Most of those (if not all) face the inner part of the lodge. If you are offered one, it might be because there aren't any woods views left or they have too many reservations for woods views.

There is also the chance that your woods view room is on the the other side of the lodge, facing the villas. Hopefully, you will get your request. I asked for non-smoking, 5th floor, north side, and we received all requests except 5th floor. We were on the 3rd floor, but we could still see the fireworks through the trees.

Also, I think that some of the 6th floor is smoking. If you don't want smoking, make sure that you add that to your request, too.

Enjoy!

I'm sure I read somewhere that there are washers and dryers located at the WL, but now can't find that info. Are there laundry facilities in the Lodge, and if so where? Does anyone know what the going rate is for a load to wash and dry? Not that I want to think about being domestic while living a dream at the World, but that will be the sacrifice I have to make I guess :laundy:

There are washers and dryers. The laundry room is just down the hall from Roaring Forks, across the hall from some elevators. Does that help? Maybe someone else can give you better directions.

I can't help with cost. I don't want to do laundry on vacation, either!

I need this info too!

From page 1 of this Thread:
WL LAUNDRY:
Location: 1st floor across from the elevators down from Roaring Forks

Washers: 5 (med sized loads) $2.00 a load

Dryers: 10 $2.00 for 15 min, (60 min max)

(PRICES MAY HAVE CHANGED)

There are times when you may have to wait line till about 11:00pm. If you don't come back for your dryer in time your cloths may be taken out! Most split their wash load into 2 dryer loads so it would dry faster.

Someone else posted about getting water from Staples sent to the AKL. We think that is a great idea.

Does anyone else order water to be delivered ahead of time? If so, where do you order from, and more importantly how much lead time do you leave between ordering and arrival?

How does the Wilderness Lodge know who the water is for. I assume they just check against the guests registered, or do I have to indicate something special?

We are heading to the lodge on February 3rd.

$2 for 15min to dry? That's going to cost a fortune! Thanks for the info.

What we try to do is run the dryer only long enough to get the wrinkles out, then take the stuff out pretty damp and hang it up to dry on the shower curtain rack (you can get extra hangers from mousekeeping if you need them). Works great for shirts, khakis and the like. Jeans and other heavy stuff need more drying time, unfortunately. Still, it saves money!

If you try it at home, you can see what you think before you go. It's our standard operating procedure, and we figure we save quite a bit of money on gas for our dryer! :)

I ordered water from staples for our Dec. stay at the WL. I went online and saw that there was one brand that said it would be delivered in 1-2 days. I ordered that because the others said longer. I believe they dont deliver on the weekends. I put our order in on Thursday and it was there when we checked in on Sat. I just put in the comments box at the bottom of the staples order form that we were staying at the WL and check in date.

I did lots of laundry on our stay and the dryers were more than 15 mins for sure. I believe they were more like 30-45. We just didnt put a whole bunch of heavy stuff in and we were able to get our loads done in the time alloted.

I just had to let all of you WL fans know that my Hubby and I were at the WL from Nov. 26th-Dec.2nd 2006. (Celebrating our 24th anniv!!) It was our first time staying at the lodge. Our stay was incredible!! The lodge is incredible!! Our room was incredible!! (Get the picture...everything was incredible!!!)) We even got towel critters every day. One day we came back to our room and I found two little bunnies sitting in my slippers. (That was just too cute!!) Even room service went above and beyond. Some of the best steaks we have ever eaten. We just felt so taken care of. (From the valet parking and care of our luggage to the cleanliness of our room.) We enjoyed our stay so much we will be returning this Nov. with our 4 children. We will be staying at the villas this time in a two bedroom suite. We can't wait to go back!! Every time we returned after a day in the parks, it just felt like...coming home. We toured all of the resorts this past trip to see the Christmas decorations. None of them gave us the same feeling that the WL did!!

Nothing like "coming home" to the lodge. I can't wait to return in April, and here the doorman say those magic words! :cool1:

Smileybug, very happy to see you enjoyed the place we all call our home away from home. Ya'll come back now, ya hear? :)

Don't forget to rub Humphrey the bear's nose to let the magic begin! You can find him in front of the Mercantile at the bottom of the totem pole there.

While you're at it, look for our good friend Ranger Stan! He can tell you a whole lot about WL.

Hey zdad and Majestic

I spent a lot of time on the resort thread trying to pick a resort while planning our last trip. Most everyone had such wonderful things to say about the WL. I listened but didn't quite believe things could be so great. Boy were we happily surprised!! We completely understand why this resort has such a large group of fans. We are looking forward to experiencing the Villas on this next trip.

I went to WDW from Dec. 6-10, 2006 and stayed at the WL. I had requested a Main Courtyard view but got a room on the first floor facing the Villas. No big deal. I fell in love with the WL. It was my first time there. The room on the first floor allowed me easy access to the pool area and I never waited for the elevator. The Lodge was so warm and cozy with all its decorations for the holidays. At night I would take a swim and soak in the hot tub and then go and sit by one of the fireplaces with a refill mug of hot cocoa. Someone mentioned about the WL and Villas feeling like home and that's true. When I was on the boat back from the MK or the bus from MGM or Epcot I would think: I can't wait to get home and I realized that I was thinking of the WL. In the morning as I headed off to the boat the geyser would go off when I least expect it, although I know it goes off on the hour from 7am-10pm. I had fun rubbing Humphrey's nose outside the Wilderness Mercantile. Sitting on the beach and watching the Electrical Water Pageant. Everytime I walked up the walkway and through the doors I knew I had come home.:santa:
I am sure there other people here on this thread who feel the exact same way. I never thought I could afford to stay in a deluxe and I am now glad I did splurge and did it. I can't wait to return to WDW and stay again at the WL. I'm guessing it might be with a Disney cruise in August 2009 or for MNSSHP Halloween 2010.:scared1:

You just brought back so many great memories of WL! My family also calls it home as well! Thank-you for my fix of the day! :goodvibes

On our second day, we were at MK and we found ourselves saying, "When we get home...", referring to getting back to our room at WL! It's amazing how comfortable the place is. :cloud9:
