The NEW WL FAQ (Part 5) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY! Part 2

Finally, If we want to go to Ohana for dinner one night, what is the best way to get there from WL (and the best way to return) and do I have to worry about what time boats stop running, etc.? We will have a rental car but I like to use the transportation some unless it just doesn't make sense.

The others I can't really help with but as for going to the Poly. I would take the ferry to MK and then take the monorail. That's my HO anyway.[/QUOTE]

I just came back and I think taking the boat to CP and then Monorail to Poly is best I did this and it worked well. The boat from CP runs up to 10PM back to WL I had to do this the night we took the Wishes cruise from Poly and it worked out just fine.

My husband, son and I are planning a trip to WL in Dec of '08. Our last trip in 5/06 we ate way too much and spent SO much money eating. Here's my thinking for those of you who have stayed on the concierge level. The food they offer...it's it ample enough? We need only a light breakfast, we would go out for a late lunch and I was hoping that the food offered in the evening would be enough (mind you we would not be gorging ourselves). We ate too much last time, I'm trying to figure a way to justify concierge and maybe help off set the cost of eating.

Check the 1st page of this thread. There's a list of typical food offerings that someone posted from their stay on the CL. It's under "Concierge @ Wilderness Lodge Old Faithful Club Lounge". The odds that you could save money on food is pretty much nil, IMHO. Let's see what others have to say.....

We will only be staying for 2 nights :sad1: since this is an add on to a business trip to another Universal resort however since I was so late booking there were only woodland view rooms available . I was bummed because I convinced my husband to stay here since it was in our budget, now it is a few dollars over.
What rooms can I request to make it worth the extra $. Also are the woodland rooms with the couch an extra charge? What about bunkbeds? This forum is invaluable. Thanks

Add "MK view" to your reservation. If you're on a high floor you may be able to see the fireworks each night.

I'm wondering about how much to budget for a 7 day trip to WDW next late January 2008. Can anyone tell me what they paid this Jan for a bunk bed room? Were you able to get a deal or a package with free dining?

You don't pay more the bunk bed you pay more for your view. So before your questioned can be answered you need to know where in the lodge you want to stay or are you in an "iron lung" budget?

I thought that starting in Janurary the bunkbed rooms were going to be more than a 2 Queen room. Maybe I am thinking of something else, though.

We were at the WL last month and did breakfast at O'Hanas- yummo- and took the boat to the CR and then grabbed the monorail to the Poly. This was very easy and not time consuming.

I read the same thing but can't remember where. It wasn't in a post. It was a Disney related webpage.

The rates for '07 at WL (for value season) are $260/nt in a woodsview room + bunks and $295 in a courtyard view + bunks. That's vs $240 and $270 for the regular woodsview and courtyard view rooms.
"Most rooms sleep 2 (King bed) or 4 (two Queen beds). None of the Standard View rooms will have bunk beds in 2007. If you want bunk beds in a Woods View or Courtyard View room, you must pay extra for the "Bunk Bed" option. Bunk Bed rooms are guaranteed to have one Queen bed plus bunk beds and sleep 4."

I have found this at LuxuryDisneyGuide:

Beginning in 2007, Walt Disney World will have a new category for the bunk bed rooms at the Wilderness Lodge expected to cost an additional $20 - $25 per night.

The same thing applies to AKL.

Are there any Standard view rooms that are better than others? I will be staying in the Villas from 3/9 - 3/16, then in a standard room 3/16 - 3/19. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Erick

Hi all. A little over a year since we went to WL last. Booking 6N/5D in late April (22 Apr arrival) now. A few questions to knock off the rust.....

- We booked a woods view, but got a inner courtyard room last time. Really liked it, but think we'd be fine with woods view too. Don't think I want to obsess on this one...just hope for some pixie dust. Thoughts ??

- I know the pool is under rehab right now, but I think it's supposed to be done by then. What's the track record for finishing on time, and is there another element of the WL rehab that will started right afterward?

- Just the Mrs and me this time (25th Anniversary). Any special requests I can make? Will definately try to get flag family, even if I have to pull the "It's our 25th anniversary and there's only 2 of us" card on the front desk.

TIA,
Z

Does WL offer a shoe shine service? My husband loves getting his shoes shined at hotels, and is wondering if this will be available at WL.

I've never heard nor seen of this service being provided at any of the WDW resorts. My first time was last month though so I'm certainly not the most knowledgable person to respond to you.

I'm considering going to WL next fall and wanted to know if all the rooms were refurbished? I saw pics of them and they look really nice. I want to book either Woods or standard but will book courtyard if thats the only way to get a refurbished room. Thanks:goodvibes

Yes. Referbishment of the WL is complete -- all rooms have been redone, as well as the hall ways.

I think I saw this at the Contemporary and GF only. I can't recall seeing a shine stand anywhere else. Then again, it's a vacation -- wing tips should be banned!

That is funny - If only you know how far from wing tips my husband is. He just wants to shine his blundstone boots. :rotfl:

Don't worry - there will be no suits, tyes, wing tips or anything like that on our vacation. The only consideration to dress will be how casual can I make the sandals for Artist Point - can I get away with crocs? I might just have to bring my Rockport sandals for the fine dining.

We stayed at Wilderness Lodge in October 06 and I think it was room 5024 and we were over the Otter Pond and had a great view of the Fire Works each night. No couch but we had bunk beds.
