OK, I sure could use some advice if ya'll are up for it...
Here's what happened. I e-mailed my resume for a job in Orlando a week ago today. The recruiter called me the next day and left a message for me to call her back (usually a good sign, right?). I called her back the next day but had to leave a message. No return call. I called again the next day (Friday). Still no answer...left message. No return call yesterday. I called her today and happened to get her on the phone. I explained who I was and that I was returning her call. Her response is below (as verbatim as possible). It helps if you imagine her tone as being similar to David Spade's "buh-bye" character ("And you're name is...and you're here regarding.....").
"Oh, yeah, uhhh, this is really not a good time for me. I'll have to call you back. Probably the earliest would be tomorrow. See, to be candid with you, we have some local candidates who are currently in the second phase of interviews and we hope to have this wrapped up by tomorrow, you know, because of time constraints. But, if for some reason we still need candidates, I'll be sure to give you a call. Actually, I'll let you know either way, you know with a phone call or maybe an e-mail, OK? Blah, blah, blah...fake niceties...blah blah blah. Buh-bye."
Needless to say, this did not help with the old self-esteem. To be honest, I have not had a great response to my resume submissions, which is not what I expected from a city the size of Orlando. Today's events helped to reinforce my fears that I'll have a hard time finding a job in Orlando from here. But, it's risky quitting my job and moving down there without one. What would you guys do?
