I switched from a deluxe room at WL to a garden view concierge at the Poly and it saved me about 200
I read too many reviews about the small rooms at WL and the monorail sold me my kids are going to love that! Not to mention we are eating at Ohana and Kona but no WL restaurants

has anyone had a bad view experience at the Poly?

Well--I've stayed at Poly 30+ times since 1973. I can honestly say that I have NEVER had a bad view(and I've been in every longhouse) or a bad experience, period.

Very cool. What a testament to the Polynesian.:goodvibes

We have 30+ stays too but we're newbies compared to you... our first stay was in 1983. We were hooked. We've never had a bad view or vacation at the Polynesian either. :beach:

I agree, maybe we've been lucky but nothing but great stays each time.

And as with many situations, it is all in the eye of the beholder ;) If you are looking for good, the little things slide right by virtually unnoticed. If you are looking for a problem, they seem to crawl out of the woodwork. The Poly is lovely, I'm sure you'll have a great visit!:thumbsup2

We are hoping to stay at the Poly this summer, it is taking a lot of convincing for DH - he would rather do 2 rooms at a moderate or value.

Does anyone know the length of the day beds? My kids are both just under 5ft and I am hoping one of them can sleep on the day bed.

Also, would you request a room closer to the GCH or one of the larger rooms in the newer longhouses close to the TTC? Just curious!

My teenage daughter slept on the day bed with no problem on a few trips :)

We initially booked the two rooms in 07. i wanted to stay at the Poly though. Once I told my DH there was not guarantee that the two rooms would be connected and the beds were double, he worked the overtime so we could do the Poly.

Well, he was sooooo thankful we switched. He said the monorail was worth all of the overtime he did.

We had the 5 of us and my DS7 slept in the day bed with plenty of room to spare.

We also stayed in the newer longhouse called Tokelau which is central to everything. It was very large and we never felt crowded. The bathroom was not an issue either. We were there 9 nights:) , not forever:guilty: , so it was perfect for us.

If your DH wants two rooms, I would definitly request one of the larger longhouses. It may ease the transition for him.

Go for it! We are going back to the Poly in Oct this year.:cool1:

Good luck!

That is good to know. My daughter is 15 but very petite so this should work.

We did two rooms at Pop last year and he loved it. We did get connecting rooms though. We will only be there 7 nights. I am thinking the newer longhouses are the way to go if we can get one. Thanks for the help!

If the daybeds are the same size at the Polynesian as they are at Paradise Pier in California, your daughter should fit just fine. My 6 foot tall son fit and was comfortable, and we actually did stay at the Poly at the Poly and he was comfortable on that day bed too. He was probably just a little shorter then. We just stayed at Paradise Pier in October and he slept great!

About how long does it take to get from the Poly to DTD using the bus?

Actual travel time on the bus is probably around 25-30 minutes, since you typically have to stop at the Grand Floridian. Figuring in wait time at the bus stop could be anything from a few minutes to 20 minutes depending on your timing.

I usually plan on an hour when using the busses if I have a an ADR or a specific time I need to be there. That way I end up there way early if the timing goes perfectly.

I would drive my car if I could. Once we waited 15 mintues for a bus to take us and 30 minutes for one to take us back.
I agree, getting to DTD is not so bad, but it seem we have a LONG wait every time going back to the resort. It doesn't matter where we are staying. It was a long wait and trip back even going to Pop and the Yacht Club - and they are close to DTD.

The buses from the Magic Kingdom Resorts to Downtown Disney and back seems to take the longest, which is my family and I always have a car when going there.

If you dont have a car and are tired of waiting, a taxi is another alternative. We're thinking about this since we probably wont rent a car for this trip -- and a taxi ride here and there will be much less expensive than paying for a rental car. Just another idea!:)

Thank you! I hope they are - I saw a picture on Tikiman's site and they seem roomy. Last summer we were at the Boardwalk Inn *(before rennovations) and the day bed was a big short and uncomfortable. I think they have new ones now - but that is what we were worried about.

I have 3 GV rooms reserved for an upcoming GG in December for 10 people. I am 1/2 tempted to upgrade to Club Level - is this even an option if one of the rooms will need to be Handicap accessible?

Thanks in advance
