I will say re: thin walls, I think our April/May 6 night stay at the Poly was one of our few trips EVER, anywhere, where we NEVER heard our neighbors!! Seriously, not once!! And we usually stay in condos/suites at the beach, with much more room and still occassionally hear the folks next door. Now, we weren't in the room much, and when we were we all slept like babies from being so active during the day, so that may have played a part. Now the kids on the balcony above us, unsupervised for more than hour each day, who were shooting water guns down at me while I tried to read - THAT was annoying, LOL!

Congratulations to you too!:cool1:

I bet you will be very happy with your garden view. Every one we've had has been beautiful.

And welcome to the Polynesian thread!:grouphug:

Thank you - I am so excited. It looks so pretty in the pictures, I am sure we will love whatever view we get.

Are all the standard rooms not the same size?

The rooms in the newer longhouses are a bit larger. They are in Tokelau. Rapa Nui, and Tahiti - I believe.

That would be annoying!! Of all Disney hotels we have stayed at the only one that I ever heard the people next door was at the Yacht Club - and it could be because the room had a connecting door - so maybe that made it a little more noisy.

Sort of Poly-related question here, more transportation. As we all discussed a few pages back, we don't usually use the buses at the Poly. We drive down from Ohio, so we have our car. However, we are considering doing an EMH morning at AK. I saw on another thread that the parking lot often does not open early enough to make this work. So, we're considering the bus. What time would we need to be at the bus stop to get to EMH at 8 AM? We were thinking about going to DTD for lunch after AK - would it be better to get the bus back to the Poly and then just drive to DTD? Or bus to SSR, walk to DTD, then bus back to the Poly after lunch? Jeez, this is more complicated than it needs to be - wish the parking lot was just open earlier!!

Wow, I had not heard that about the parking lot - good question.

As for DTD - I would recommend taking your car. The bus ride is ususally a long one, especially on the way back.

I am so happy! I got the 4/3 deal at Poly for Auust 1-8. I am so happy! Did I mention that I am happy? :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It was just $500 more than our 5 night trip to POR. That aint bad! My goal is to stop eating out and save that way...we'll see!:scratchin

We've never rented a car while at WDW. But we took our first ever taxi ride in the area last night ... Poly to DTD Marketplace, the meter read something like $19.30 or $19.70.

One of our days we have a 1:30 lunch at Tusker for the reserved seating at the Nemo show. Then we're off to a 7:15 Hoop De Do Revue (6:45 arrival). We were planning to take a cab from AK to Pioneer Hall at Wilderness Campgrounds.

Are the cabs pretty available at the AK?

See you there!!

We extended our 8/2-8/7 trip to 8/2-8/9 with the deal. Yay!!

That is certainly the longer route and also has all those stoplights. It's really a shame that the bus to DTD takes that route. I had no idea.:sad2:
I agree it is, however like I said before I guess it takes the longer route since the 1st stop is the Marketplace bus station. So that way it does not need to turn around if it went the way my family and I go there. Also when going back to the Magic Kingdom Monorail Resorts the bus goes once again takes the longer route even though it would have stopped at the Pleasure Island and Typhoon Lagoon, so it could go in the other direction past the signs saying Old Key West and etc.

I will keep an eye out for your LGMH! I need to stock up.

What's really great about this trip is we are keeping it totally secret fromt he kids. No packing, no countdown, DH and I just say to the kids that morning, "What do you want to do today?"

"How about we go to Disney World?"

I can't wait to hear what they say to that!

Oh, how FUN!! We'll have to do that one time!

They have the "Aquatics" line from H2O+ (www.h20plus.com) ... 1.25 ounce bottles of shampoo, conditioner, bath gel and lotion. Plus round bar soap. Remember, you can bring larger quantities of your own stuff from home in your checked luggage

No toothpaste provided.

I can't take a picture ... my wife already thinks I'm nuts, so I don't know how I'd explain that one.

I just wanted to add...I love the "Aquatics" products they provide. Work great on my natural curly, somewhat "unruly" hair. I don't even bring my own from home anymore...leaves me more room to bring stuff home. :goodvibes

In Sept, when we were at the Poly, and just this past Jan. when we were at the AKL, they also provided solor gel. I hope they still have that as well. Also, at AKL, they had toothbrushes in the bathroom that had small tubes of toothpaste inside. Enough for a few days I would think. I'm guessing if you forgot yours, or asked for them, they could be provided.

CleveRocks: I hope you are having a wonderful time!

I am just wondering what people think about the GV rooms at Hawaii? We are staying at the Poly for our first time the first week of Dec. and are lucky enough to do CL (do to 40% off pin!) but could only get GV and not LV. My DH would love for me to keep trying to get LV so I am wondering...is the extra cost worth it to keep trying? are there any great views from GV or where exactly would they look out at in Hawaii? Also.....What area do I want to request at Hawaii to be sure of a balcony? or do I want patio?
We are sooo excited to finally try this place out I cant even stand myself!!

I think it is worth it. The garden views are lovely but the lagoon view from Hawaii is unbelievable. At most WDW resorts, I would not pay extra for the view but this is an exception.

With regard to the solar gel, toothpaste and toothbrush...we've only had those in our room when staying club level.

We were at the Poly in early January and they had solar gel, toothpaste and toothbrushes in addition to the H2O stuff - thought this was a nice perk to have - esp. for a family that always manages to forget something!

What building, Bella? We were there in early January too :wave2: but not club level and did not.
