We had a great time!! The photo shoot is absolutely worth the time!! We got some really great pictures out of it.

Yeah, that was pretty funny!! Auntie kept introducing me to all the "natives," and they'd say "Oh, you're the Ma'ilo!!"

I will, at some point, write an actual TR, but here are some video highlights from our trip (with some Poly footage, of course!!).

You're pics and you're video are wonderful!!! I can't wait to go back now!! Thank you for sharing them!!

WELCOME to all of you! :welcome: I notice that you've all joined within the last month! :disrocks:

:thumbsup2 Thank you very much for the welcome!! I just looked at the first page of this thread and I must say that those pictures are breath-taking. When I started seeing the ones of the rooms, I almost began crying. I miss it there so much. Hearing the music, smelling the waterfall, seeing the monorail go by. :worried:

Oh well, 184 days.

That is such a very cute video!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. ::yes::

Hi there Poly experts! Two questions for you.
1) Do you know if there is a clothesline you can pull out and use in the bathroom for hanging bathing suits on? Someone on another thread mentioned bringing clothespins.
2) I assumed the AC in the room would be our white noise but do you think I should bring one of those alarm clocks that has white noise and other sounds on it? I hate hearing sounds from other rooms. I guess the real question is how loud are the room air conditioners in the Poly?
Thanks! Only 2 more months to go!

The Poly has laways been my dream resort. My DW and I have 3 year old twins and I would love to be able to stay there next year when we go around Nov-Dec. Are there codes for the poly ever?

1. Yes, there's a pullout clothesline. I've never used clothespins.
2. Sorry can't help much. I find the Polynesian rooms to be quiet usually but never use white noise.

We've often been able to get AA or AP rates over the years.

Does the food and beverages cost extra for those staying in the concierge/club level?

No extra charge for the food and beverages in the lounge.

Happy planning everyone!

Safe travels, Tess!

I got a general code last year for the Poly for Nov. 07 (actually found out about it on the Codes board here on the Dis)...think it came out in late August or early September. I saved over $700 for our 6-night stay in a Garden View room.

This year we got a 20% pin code (randomly sent out) which saves us just under $500 for our 5-night stay in November.

You may want to check out the Codes thread, there are lots of good ideas over there...

I got a general 40% code we'll be able to use in September if we decide to go (which I'm hoping we will)!! :cool1: Actually, I'm almost ready to do a solo trip if no one else can go with me!!

I am so glad you said that!! The smell of the waterfall in the atrium is what thrills me! I just don't know what it is that I love about it. Once I smelled it at another hotel and Russ and I just fell apart with longing for the poly!

We got a 40% code for September. Had to call and ask, but it was attached to our name on the system. Never got a mailer about it, so its worth calling and asking.

Oh, I can go with you, no problem!!!!

 Yeah, I bet I could find a few willing souls here.

I hear it's pretty toasty in September. Our code has dates in all months for the rest of the year, I don't know why September sticks out. I guess because I'm thinking of free dining.

Anybody have thoughts about later fall weather and crowds? I'm determined to use that darn thing since they seem to be so elusive!!

What a great code.:cool1:

We love the weather in the second half of October and November. Little rain, much lower humidity. Crowds are relatively low too although perhaps no lower than you experienced. Avoid Columbus Day weekend, Jersey week which is sometime in early Nov. and Thanksgiving week and you should be fine in our experience. A nice bonus of the second half of November is that the holiday decorations start to appear....magical!pixiedust:

Happy planning!

Good advice!
I usually try to plan my trips in April (avoid "spring break") or Oct. And I've found perfect weather and less crowds.

That's so great! I keep referring to Auntie as 'Grandma's twin' because she looks so much like my late grandmother. The resemblance is uncanny. It's also one of the reasons why I feel so 'at home' at the Poly.

I watched this at work and almost started bawling. So beautiful and full of magic!

There is nothing quite like the smell of the waterfall at the Poly (well, the smell of Pirates of the Caribbean comes close...). It's freaky how much the smell relaxes me and brings back such memories. The AKL lobby also has a smell which is probably why I like that resort too. :lmao:

quick question:
Is there a laundry room to do your own laundry and where is it?
Thanks

Yes, it's located in the same building as the Neverland Club and Tangaroa Terrace. It faces the parking lot and has a keyed entrance. There are probably 8 or so washers and dryers.
