I guess people don't realize how much gunk the lagoon is filled with. It is also the waters in which mouse boats, boats and the TTC ferry travel through. Think of the oil and pollution left behind by them.

huntconn,
When you get a chance can you tell me if the Boutiki store is selling a blue Polynesian logo shirt. I use to have one and after my family and I last got home from WDW it got ruined, so I was unable to purchase a new one while we were there last December. So if they still have it for sale I will get a new one in a few weeks when my family and I visit the Polynesian. However if anyone else who was just there remembers seeing it for sale would you please let me know.

What are the Poly chocolate bars? Do they cost anything? How do you reserve them?

Plus do you have to mention ahead of time for the kiddos to get sand toys at check in Or is that just a random thing that disney does?

If you mean the t-shirt with the small Polynesian logo on the front and the large picture with the hula dancer on the back, they were there in May, so hopefully they still have them :)

Aww, I wonder if the CM/ukulele player/singer was not yet performing for the evening? That's a shame because it does add a nice backdrop of Hawaiian feel, to the restaurant. Give it another try next time, maybe a little later in the evening? :)

There's a chance I was just oblivious to it, too.:rotfl: The food really isn't our cup of tea which is why we had never booked it before. However, our daughter wasn't along on that trip so we will probably try it one more time in a year or two. But I know the restaurant is a do not miss for many, many families.

The halls in the Tahiti longhouse are huge compared to the other longhouses. :thumbsup2

The halls in Rapa Nui and Tokelau are also that width. Really opens it up doesn't it?

Both the chocolate bar and sand toys are gifts in the club level building. But you can buy the same pails in Boutiki for a $1 or $2....lots cheaper than club level! Happy planning.:goodvibes

Another great live update huntconn..so fun to read for those of us anticipipating an upcoming vacation at the Poly:) It was kind of icky to read about people swimming in the lagoon. From all the posts I've read since I joined this board last month that's not too healthy:confused: . ICK

I agree with cyndisun this thread is so great and full if fabulous and helpful folks. It's been an enormous help to me in planning my trip.

A quick question, it's probably here somewhere..what brand of toiletries does the Poly put in the rooms? What do you get..shampoo, conditioner,( the usual suspects)?

H20 products...soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Very nice. Club level also receives this wonderful solar gel which is magical I think. Works far better than most aloe products we've tried. Oh and toothbrush and small tube of paste in club level.

Thanks!..hopefully they replenish every day.. my DH uses crazy amounts of shampoo. I always bring my own shampoo, but he's not particular;) . That solar gel sounds cool..alas we're not club level, but maybe it's in the gift shop. I love lotions and potions:)

Ok, time for another Poly update!
Lots of people swimming in the Lagoon. At any given time in the afternoon there are upwards of 15 people (both kids and adults) swimming and or playing in the lagoon. Strange that Disney posts "no swimming" here but do not seem to do anything about it when folks do. Makes me wonder how great the danger really is but I'm still not risking it!
Walking through Tahiti from the TTC the past several days, I really noticed how much wider the hallways are in the newer bulidings. It makes hallways much brighter than the older buildings. The lighting seems the same.
Yes, we did receive our Poly chocolate bar upon arrival. The chocolate bar seems to have a newer, brighter graphic on it. We also received leis and sand buckets for the kids upon check in.
Both of my DS's (6 and 7) finally braved SpM this time. I'm so proud of them! They can now do every ride in the MK. Now we have to work on ToT and RnR Coaster! Not this year though.
LOTS of Brazilian tour group in the park. Almost all of them have been very well behaved. They seem to be made up of about 80% girls. These groups can be very large.
Went to the HDDR the other night. Too much FUN! My kids laughed almost the entire time. Great, corny fun. Food was good too. I'll check in later!:yay:
Do you get the Chocolate bar because you are in club level? Do you get turn down service too?

They do replenish it each day :) I love the products. Here's a picture of what it looks like:

Oh lovely photo of everything..thanks!
My DH will make a mess of the shampoo in short order, as I said he uses gobs:)

MeE&3 -- I want you to know I have been enjoying your live trip reports. We have only 45 more days to go and reading your report makes it seem a little shorter. Thanks for checking in - sounds like you're having fun!

Sorry but the great trip reports come from huntconn. My trip starts in 1 week and 5 days:woohoo: I will be at Shades of Green right next to Poly. so we will be there alot:yay: .

Well, we're headed back to the World in December. We decided to try SoG and YC this time. Boo!! No, I'm really excited, but we'll definitely be visiting our Disney home a few---er, several times. When I mentioned lodging, my grampa said "I know, the Polynesian." Hehe!! He loved the place, too!

That's exactly the one I was asking about, so hopefully they will still have them for sale in a few weeks.

We will be at the Poly in a few weeks :cool1: , and with as many trips as I've been on, you'd think I'd know the answer to this question. But alas, I do not.

We have an 8:30 ADR for the Princess Storybook one morning. We very rarely do early morning breakfasts, which is why I'm not sure about this. We will likely walk to the TTC to get the monorail to Epcot. Will the monorail be running that early? And, what time to you suggest we get to the TTC by to make it there in time.

Thanks in advance!!!! :)
