Arriving at WL on a Sunday afternoon.........after touring the Lodge and getting settled in and maybe going for a swim, which restaurant would be a better choice for a first time WL meal (dinner).....WCC or AP? It will be a family of four with kids aged 11 and 13. Thanks!:wave2:

While I love Artist Point and WCC, for the first night I would choose WCC. Just for the fun of it all. ::yes::

DisneyDmbNut, Betsy

With the two, yep you'll need them. ::yes::. Be warned niether child will be able to watch TV very well from the Bunk Beds. (because of the railings on the beds)

I was just on Disneyworld.com looking at vacation quotes and the WL had one with a *lodge view* what's that? The only other option available was standard, I was trying to book courtyard.

TIA!

I saw that also! I think it means you fave the villas...which is a very pleasant view, IMO.

Many of you have given me some great advice on requesting a "Bear Face" room that overlooks the courtyard. If you don't mind, I have a few more questions. Does anyone know if these "Bear Face" rooms are standard two queen-sized beds. We have an 11 year old on the smaller side and a soon to be 13 year old on the tall side. I'm afraid bunk beds might be too small for him. So, we would need two queen beds for our family.

Also, if the "Bear Face" rooms are not available, would you suggest a lobby room on WCC side or the check-in side (based on balcony views, etc)? Are there any lobby rooms on the first floor?

I really appreciate all of your help and suggestions. And thanks to those who posted to my question about eating at one of the WL restaurants on our first night at the Lodge. Thanks again!!!!:wave2:

Question here for the WL experts: DD and I are staying at WL for the first time this summer, we have a woods view booked, and we would like to be close to the boat dock. We have seen the view from #5032 on Majestic's picture page, and it seems perfect. But, many experts have stated WDW frowns on you requesting a specific room #, while others state they ask for the same room each trip, and get it. What is your experience, and what requests do you suggest for us?

Thanks for your help!!

Call CRO and have them put the request on your ressie!!

Like AC says, call CRO and request the room number. 5034 to 5012 are woodsview and are close to the boat dock. Most offer a view of MK and FW. All are non-smoking. Smoking rooms one floor up, 6th. You can also work with the CM at check in.

hope this question is in the right spot.

does anyone know if it is ok if you smoke on the balcony of a non-smoking room. i know this question may seem a bit silly but my DW smokes and she was concerned if it is ok to smoke out there. i am not a smoker and we are not staying in a smoking room.

i am trying to get her to quit by july, our trip time, but we are dealing with losing weight first. she has lost 17 pounds and i have 47 so far.

thanks
tomerin

tomerin,

Congratulations on the weight loss.:sunny:

I am of the group that believes a room's smoking or non-smoking designation extends to the balcony. You can always check with the resort.

It is very kind of you to ask.

We went on a vacation last year and could rarely sit out on our balcony because the people on each side of us were smoking (on non smoking room balconies.) Obviously, in Florida, sitting out on the balcony is very important. My son has asthma and we just couldn't have him sit out there because we'd be dealing with the aftermath all night.

I would check with the resort. Enjoy your vacation.

:sunny:

I don't smoke anymore (quit almost 2 years ago) but last time I looked into this for someone it was relayed onto me that on non smoking floors the rule extends out to the balconies. Kinda makes sense to me. Not sure how much they will enforce the rule though.

It is very thoughtfull of you to ask. Just think of the smoke break as an excuse to take a walk down to the lobby and watch the waterfall. :)

thanks for the quick replies

we did discuss this and were also concerned with the smoke drifting off and disturbing others who may be sitting out and enjoying themselves.

i will tell DW that smoking is not allowed on the balcony.

the trip down to the lobby or designated smoking area is a great idea. thanks Fred . we can use this as a break to go for a walk by ourselves.

Weight loss , wilderness lodge and disney. the dream vacation is about to happen for us. soon to be a WL VET!!!

Sorry guys.....another bunk bed ques....

Do the rooms with bunks really offer that much more floor space? Is it worth requesting one for that reason? I've heard some people say that you can barely walk around the room with two queens and a crib. Thoughts????

THANKS!!!!:wave2:

Aspiring Cindy & FloridaCat - Thanks for your help!!:teeth: I will definitely call and ask that the room request be added to the res. And, I didn't think to say, we needed non-smoking, so that's no problem.

Can't wait for our first trip to WL! We've visited and eaten at WCC, but never stayed.:sunny:

tomerin - I just wanted to add to Majestic and floridafam's kudos to you for being so thoughtful! I have asthma, too, and I am so sensitive to cigarette smoke, even outdoors. Many smokers don't think to ask your question, but, to be fair, they probably don't realize just how harmful it is to many of us.

Thank you for your concern!:sunny:

Take care of your children today as you may need them to care for you tomorrow.

( Dear Friend: I got your note today, asking me what it's like to be a
mermaid. Well - I've given it a lot of thought. )

There are ways we're not the same
When it comes to running games and races
Nobody calls my name
And you don't swim as fast as I can
There's really just no use in trying, no
You'll only feel slow

I hear the music play
That's when I come up to watch you dancin'
How do you move that way?
And I know your schools aren't like my schools
You have recess, we have tide pools, yet
I'm willing to bet

That dreamin'
Is somethin' that we both know how to do
You wish upon that evenin' star
And hope that it comes true
Dreams connect us even when we're far apart
'Cause dreams
Come from inside your heart

I found a golden ring
And I don't know what its purpose is
This curious, shiny thing
And when you wish what do you long for?
What's right for you might still be wrong for me
But we might agree

That dreamin'
Is somethin' that we both know how to do
You wish upon that evenin' star
And hope that it comes true
Dreams connect us even when we're far apart
'Cause dreams
Come from inside your heart

I know I'm not really part of your world
But deep in my heart I'm like ev'ry other girl

And dreamin'
Is somethin' that we both know how to do
You wish upon that evenin' star
And hope that it comes true
Dreams connect us even when we're far apart
'Cause dreams
Come from inside your heart

There is a smoking area outside the RF entrance. Smoking is allowed at the pool area, so you will have to be considerate of those around you.

Great poem! Thanks for making me smile!! Hey, Fred, I guess I'll see ya in about a month::yes:: :wave2: !

Hello:

We stayed at WL last trip and loved it (999ghosts, if you still read this--thanks again!)

The question I have is we are thinking about a "Lobby View" "room. One of our favorite places is the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone. WL is very much like this. One of our activities at the Old Faithful Inn is sitting next to the rail of the huge lobby and enjoy the atmosphere.

So here's the questions: 1) Are the lobby rooms Standard View, woodsview, courtyard, or a combination? 2) Are you allowed to pull up chairs and just sit next to the rail, or are there designated "sitting areas?" 3) I'm not terribly noise sensitive, but do the doors/wall block out most of the noise from the lobby? 4) For those who have stayed in these rooms, what are the recommended areas and/or floors?

That's it, and thanks.
