It's been a long time since my youngest DS was in a stroller (he is 14 now!), but we did take him to DW when he was just 2, and we took our own stroller for similar reasons that you mentioned. He was just more comfy it in! We checked it, along with his car seat, and all was fine, and I was glad I did it. Those plastic strollers just don't seem as comfy!

I'm just curious what kind of offering are available at concierge for "snack foods" in the afternoon and "appetizers" in late afternoon..... Breakfast I already know.

Thanks

I don't remember exactly where I previously posted this in the past so I have to go on memory now.....I will do my best

during the afternoon hours they typically had:

cookies (the sugar cookies are great)
mixed nuts
gummies
whole fruit
iced tea
lemonade
coffee/tea

in the evening:

a soup
a hot dish (stew, or spring rolls, or???)
bread with a really yummy spread
crudites
cheeses and fruit tray
crustless PB&J sandwiches (absolutely delicious)
soda, wines, coffee/tea

late evening:
a dessert (usually a cobbler or pie)
assorted cookies, brownies
wine/cordials/coffee/tea/hot cocoa

There are a few things I'm sure I've forgot, but I think that gives you the idea.....it was all really yummy.

 We have checked our own stroller at the gate as well...never had a problem.

Kimmar and DF99...

Hi Everyone!
We have just booked a concierge room in Dec. with a CAA/ AAA rate of $331 (inc. tax) a night.

Wondering if the concierge rooms on Flr 7 are just in the first section of the wings before they jut out toward the lake past Roaring Forks or if they also go right down that section by the pool too.

I wouldn't mind courtyard if it was in the section closer to the lake...if not perhaps a room with a MK view. I understand that the only rooms on Flr 7 that open to the lobby are the honeymoon suites? Any suggestions for rooms?

Thanks a bunch!

I believe the concierge only go about 1/2 way down the wing-much like you describe. The 7th floor stops about 1/2 way out.

I think I almost would rather try for a MK view than a courtyard view with a concierge room (unless I was almost at the end of the hallway.)

Yes, the honeymoon suites do open over the lobby. They have a king bed. Would this work for your traveling party?

Thanks floridafam! I was trying to remember from our stay at WL several years ago, but I seem to remember that the wings closest to the lake only went to Flr.6.

There will for four of us....a girls trip with my DD (11) and a friend and her DD(10) so the honeymoon room is out. I think we will try for a room with a MK view.

Can't wait....WL is so beautiful at Christmas!!

I want to stay in a GRAND suite at the WL! All the talk of ressies, and details exchanged...makes me yearn to call and book such accomodations! ::yes:: It's everything I can do to STOP my hands from grabbing the phone and dialing. (LOL). In the meantime, I can always visit this wonderful thread, and get my FIX of all things "Wild and Lodgey" (Lodgey? Did I invent a NEW WORD?!? :p ).

Corky...Fred & Kimmar.... :goodvibes: Enjoy the weekend!

Good Morning Everyone! We're here to answer any questions regarding WL(or anything else)!!

Hi All!

I just posted a new thread and thought I would ask here also; since you are all experts and share such wonderful ideas/facts.

I am travelling this summer (July 1 - July 5). My family always alternate our stays between Poly and BC every year. This trip, we are travelling with our friends (their FIRST trip). We both have boys ages 14. They have narrowed their choices to AKL or WL. They love the theme of AKL, but love the idea of WL and the boat transporation to MK. The boys feel they will spend most of their time on the rides at MK. I have even considered letting my "little boy" ;) go to the park with his friend without parents. Staying at WL would make me feel alot better about this decision. Also, we will be spending our afternoons poolside and return later to the parks in the evenings.

I am stumbling around because I just want this to be such a perfect time for our friends.

Thank you all who try and help me make this decision.

And, if I may try your patience with one more thing, which room would be a good choice. My DF will have just had knee surgery 6 weeks prior to our vacation and I want to be close to the elevators for her with not much walking. (She is thinking of renting an ECV and having it delivered to the hotel).

pixie dust gal,

That's a tough decision. I would say WL because it is closer to MK but AKL is beautiful.

You should be able to take the boat to MK with your friend in a wheelchair. I think the only time there is a problem with this is if the water level in Bay Lake is low or high-then the boat may not be at the same level as the dock.

I'd stay at the Poly for convenience to the Monorail for both your friend and the kids to get back and forth to MK but that's not one of your choices.

Good luck with your decision. :sunny:

Welcome Debbie!!

While I don't have the experience actually staying at the AKL, when I chose the WL for my stay I did consider AKL. The big thing that tipped the scales to WL was the fact that it was close to the MK and on the water so renting Water Mice was an option.

After our first stay- I'm hooked on the WL.

I thought the transportation was great and loved being able to take the boat to the MK and the smaller boat to CR or FW for dinners. DD and I loved renting WaterMice and tooling around the Bay- I would think that would be something two 14 year old boys would really enjoy too.

Given your friend is recovering from surgery- you can have that noted on your reservation and request to have a room near an elevator.

Have a fun trip and stop by this thread if you have any more questions.

To get a bit of AKL experience- we went there for dinner at Boma which was awesome and would highly recommend it.

Welcome Debbie! Although I have never stayed at AKL, I still would choose WL. The proximity to MK and the access to many great restaurants is what we consider when staying at WL. CR is just a hop skip away(well maybe a 5 minute boat ride) where you have some wonderful restaurants, a great arcade and monorail service.
In any event, either resort would be a great choice!

I haven't stayed at WL yet, and my boys (9 and 10) loved AKL when we stayed there last month. I would recommend WL though for the reasons others have posted. If you think you'll be spending more time at MK than any of the other parks then WL will be MUCH more convenient. AKL transportation was great and we never waited more than ten minutes for a bus, but it is about a 20 minute ride to MK. Besides, I also think 14 year old boys would LOVE the water mice boats!

Thank you all for such a nice welcome! Just the simple fact that you are all so generous and friendly with your comments and time and that you all LOVE WL says something in that of itself! WL must be a great resort that attracts such friendly people. Car manufacturers say that certain cars attract certain personalities - i.e. there are chevy people and honda people, etc. Well you all who are WL people seem to be about the same warm, friendly, personality. I hope I find some of that on our vacation!

Thank you and hugs to you all who have helped me decide; WL it is!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

It happens quite often that the boat to and from MK to WL is not accessible to people traveling in ecvs or power wheelchairs because of the water level. Bay Lake is too large for them to regulate the water level, so they are dependent on weather/rain conditions. If there is a small difference, the boat CMs can manage by using a small ramp and "creative loading/unloading" of the boat (i.e. have all the walking people board first if the boat needs more weight to sink lower in the water or have ecv/wheelchair users board first if the boat is too low). There are times when the water level causes just too big of a difference and at those times, ecv users have to take the bus to the TTC to get to MK. Wheelchair users who are able to walk onto the boat (a step down or up) can have someone else laod the wheelchair on for them.

We decided to stay in WL for our fall trip. Tentative trip date is 9/29-10/3 (4 nights) in value season to get the cheapest rack rate, or going on reguler season 10/6-10/10 to get possible discount???? Based on mousesavers.com's previous discount hitory, there were not much of discount on September, however, there were a few in October (once reguler season starts).
Which time period would you suggest?

Coko....there was a discount offered last year in Sept.....it was the Fairy Tale Package

We are tentatively scheduled for the same time as you this year.....and are hoping for a package or possible Annual Pass discount. I would suggest you pick the dates that are best for you and then wait and see what happens....if there ends up being some type of discount then it's possible you can make some changes in the res. to accomodate the discount. Good Luck....maybe we will see you there!!:D

Thanks for your advise. I don't know how discount works on package deal. To me, I always thought going by package was waist of our money since we never go to water parks nor care for extra option. I want to get "room-only" discount and I believe that was not avaiable for AP nor Disney Visa member for last year. I will do cost calcuration for both Value and Reguler and we will go from there... It would be great if we can see there!!!!
Again, thank you for your kind reply.
