The New (Part 4) WL FAQ Thread...Just the Facts M'am!

...when we stayed at WL, I thought that I'd "lose out" on the great castle view [we had an inner court view]. But, the more I thought about it, (being the 'people-person' that I am)I preferred the court view, because I could always watch the "newbies" from my balcony. I'm sure that a view of the castle would be great, but after a few days, it'd be, like, "ok, there's the castle again....yada, yada, yada....." We had stayed at the Dolphin and had a FANTASTIC view of BW, B/YC, and Epcot (with the "giant golf ball") and, after two days, it was no big deal. I guess, everyone has their own preference. Just remember, ANY room you get will be fine. After all, you ARE at the most wonderful place on Earth....::yes:: !!

Does anyone know if you can see the fireworks from the Yellowstone Suite balcony?

I know we saw a few from our courtyard view room a few years ago.

:D

Thanks in advance.:sunny:

From what I have seen, I would have to say no. I might be wrong though.

Yes they will give you concierge access from other floors and they will give you the robes and the fridge that are inclusive of concierge. As for how many they will give out, I can't say.

My problem is that you pay the same price regardless of whether you are on or off the main concierge floor.

Good luck! :)

I have heard of people staying on other floors with concierge access. However, I'm pretty sure they limit the number of rooms with concierge access.

If it's "frosting", you can take it or leave it, go ahead and wait till you arrive to book. However, if you will feel bad if concierge is full and you can't get it, I'd book it now.

Agreed. Courtyard has no view of the castle at all. You need woods view for that. Take note that there are trees too so if you don't get a room that is high up it may be harder to see. Check out my WL Pics website. It has lots of balcony views including one I had in concierge with a view of the castle.

Hope this helps.

The courtyard view come in 2 "flavors". Most of the rooms overlook the main pool area. I doubt you'd be able to see the castle here. Some of the rooms (like the one I had) overlook the Villa's and the quiet pool.

To see the castle, I'm pretty sure you need a "woods" view.

Your chances, I really don't know. I don't know how many rooms are in that area.

Good luck! Personally, I don't think there's a "bad" view in the bunch!

I don't even know why I asked if you could see fireworks from the Yellowstone Suite. We won't be in the suite, anyway. I booked 2 concierge rooms and started to regret my decision. When I called back the suite was booked.

So, now we are in the Yosemite Suite (can't wait to sit out on the balcony) for 2 nights and then a concierge room for 2 nights-unless more nights open up in the Yosemite Suite.

If my DH divorces me over this reservation mess then we won't need the suite at all. :teeth:

Majestic, thanks for the info.

I spoke with the nicest CM named Maire. She was the best!!

I didn't find your dates in my Who's Going database! Click the link in my signature and post em. You can also see who else is going when you are.

Booked a 1bedroom in VWL just this morning!
Less than 7mos to go

We are going to WDW on September for party of 13. I am considering WL as my one of resort option. We want castle view
so that we don't have to stay at park to watch FW and maybe take some advantage watching water pagent? Anyway, having 2yr and infant, is high up floor really safe? I also would like to know should I book for September right now even though there is no discount avaiable? How that AP works and can we get the discount on specific requested time we are going?
We want to go on the following dates.
9/15-9/20, 9/22-9/26, or 9/29-10/3. We can be flexible for one of these schedule.... Thank you for your help and advise!

You can book it for September with a AAA discount! It is roughly 15% off!

When I was at the WL I had room 5034, woods view overlooking the otter pond. I was able to see the castle very well and the fireworks. Im not sure there are many rooms with a clear view. Lots of the trees block the view. My room and room 5032 are centered through an opening in the trees which allows the view. I absolutely loved my balcony. I got to see the otter on a few occasions. The fireworks are awesome. Remember you dont get to hear the music. The castle is a distance off, but you can see it clearly chaning colors at night..Its very magical.

There is a small table and 2 chairs on the balcony, so I would watch young children constantly so they dont climb. Otherwise, I would say the balcony is very safe.

Got a room only rate for Wilderness Lodge. We've never stayed on property. I'll be requesting a view of the castle (we are holding Woods view).

Question 1 - what is the game room like? I've got 2 teenagers..

Question 2 - is it really feasable to take the boat to the Contemporary to catch the monorail to Epcot?

Question 3 - how often do the boats run between CR/WL/FW ? And how late do they run?

Thanks!!!!

I was totally hooked when we stayed at the WL back in October.

I'll give a stab at some of your questions...

Q1: Nothing to compare it too but it seemed small but packed with a variety of games and also had an air hockey table.

Q2: Very feasible to take the boat to the CR and catch the monorail. You really have to take the monorail to the TTC and switch to the Epcot Monorail. You can also take the WL bus directly to Epcot too- timing is roughly the same as some one posted having 'raced' members of their family.

Q3: Boats run fairly regularly- like every 20 minutes- between CR/WL/FW. 10:00 pm is the last boat if I remember correctly.

Have fun and happy planning!!!

Although the arcade is a little bit on the small side [we stayed at CSR, and the arcade was awesome!], it has enough to keep the kids occupied. (believe me, my DS's used the faciltiities EVERY DAY!!)

As for the boat-to-monorail sitch, I'd vote for a bus to TTC and transfer to the monorail to Epcot, but when we visited Epcot, we just used the bus to go directly to Epcot.....

The boats run on a pretty regular basis - about every 15-20 minutes or so (that was our experience, anyway!). The last boat from MK runs directly after the fireworks are over, and not a MINUTE later.....I know firsthand, because, we missed the last boat and had to take the monorail to the TTC and then catch a bus back to the WL.

(BTW ~ if your children are older, they can always hop a boat to the Contemporary...their arcade is the BEST!!!)

Welcome to the WL FAQ Thread, please note that last September there where no codes issued for AP holders only Florida Residents, the Fairytale package and AAA had discounts available.

Should I book now for September trip? or wait till discounts get avaiable?

I would go ahead and book now. I wouldnt want to miss out on getting a room by waiting.
If codes do come out, you can apply them to your existing reservation.
We did this last year. We booked our August 2003 trip in February. In May a code came out for stay 4 nights get 3 free. I called Disney Reservations and they applied the code. It saved me $1000!
