Thank you for the reply, I so hope I get to return there some day. The trip was absolutely magic!!

I do have a question. You mentioned the "Bear Face Rooms" could you explain what that means??? It was a fabulous room and view but I don't understand this part.

Thank you

Winnie Pooh Fan

I'll try and explain, but you have to use your imagination in the photo below you can see a face of a bear...If you look real close...the eyes are the two small dormer windows at the top of the roof, the nose would be the large gable, with the mouth just under that...DO YOU SEE THE BEAR? Hope so...

The rooms overlooking the Inner Courtyard off the lobby are refered to as the "The Bear Face Rooms"

Hello everyone....well I have returned from the vacation and fianlly was able to get on the computer, I wanted to fill everyone in on the news from our trip but unfortunately I have news of another kind to share.....I received this in my e-mail

~~~~~~~
Dear Corky and All the Wonderful Disney Friends of our Father, Roy Carr;
It is with our deepest regret that my Sister, Dianne, and I inform you our Father slip from this earth into heaven yesterday, July 29th.
Our family will be traveling to Eureka, Il on Saturday to take my Father to his final resting place where he will be buried along side our Mother and Brother.
It is very difficult to turely express to all of you what you have each meant to him. You brightened his life in so many ways.
For all that you did and have done, Dianne and I thank you for the "magic" that you sent his way!
Thank you from us All!
~~~~~~~~

I am so sorry that this is the news that I've had to return to....

Roy will remain in my heart forever as I'm sure it is the same with all of you. I will do my very best to remember his constant source of good will and wisdom. Don't forget what he always shared with us lodgers......"Laugh When You Can, Sez I"

DO YOU SEE THE BEAR? Hope so...

Yes!! I do see the bear now. That trip was so magical from start to finish and this is a bonus. I love being able to show the pictures of the lodge and point out "my room".

Thank you!!

This thread has been quiet lately! Who's going this week? I know Ronald Duck and his wife are going. Anyone else? I need to live vicariously through others these days.

I'm trying to see if I can sneak in a surprise quick trip (3 days) for DS and me in November. Don't tell, though...

I am so sorry to read of the death of Roy "Florida Cat". I learned so much from his posts. I'm sure heaven has a little section of the WL just for him.

You bet we're going...yee ha!

I follow the Orlando Weather online and starting this weekend they are expecting a highly unusual period of relatively dry weather for August. That sounds just fine with us:cool: :cool:

By the way Babybunrab...I just noticed that you responded to my PM and now I've replied to yours. Hope I can get some of your pics in the (e) mail before we head off.

Hope you can squeeze in a trip...we just got an e-mail postcard with the great fall rates and actually gave it some thought, but we had previously given up our AP rates to do the AZZ code...so we're just going to spend all our $$$ next week on a 35th Anniversary blowout. After a very tough summer with a sick-but-now-recovering first granddaughter, we really deserve it:sunny: :tongue:

Is there an email address or phone number for WL concierge. I would love to talk to them about room preference as we decided to do this late in the game. We will be going in 45 days. :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce:

Also, what room should I request?? Do any of the inner courtyard rooms also have a view of the castle, or are those only the wood view rooms??

but I've looked and looked and I can't find the answer.

I have an 8:05 a.m. PS at CRT in MK on a NON early entry morning. I have recently heard that the monorails haven't been starting to run until around 8:00 a.m. on NON early entry mornings, so taking a bus to TTC then the monorail to MK doesn't seem to be an option. I've also heard that the launch from WL to MK doesn't start running until 8:00 a.m. on those mornings either. So what should my plan of action be? Will there be special early morning buses to take us to MK, or how about taking a launch to CR, then walking to MK? Will that launch be running prior to 8:00 a.m.?

Any help on this subject is greatly appreciated. Thank You!

The WL to CR boat runs 7am - 10pm, every day. When we had our early CRT, we took the boat to CR, then monorail to MK. They both were running. It was quite easy and took about 40 minutes door to door.

I would follow Kimberle's advise but instead of going to the Monorail I would catch the small Blue Flag resort boat from WL and when you arrive at the Contemporary Resort walk towards the tower from the marina but don't go inside keep to the right this will take you to the parking area for the North Wing keep walking until you come to the walk-way to Magic Kingdom you won't have any trouble finding the sidewalk just keep walking toward the Castle. From the time you board the boat to the CR until you arrive at the Magic Kingdom should be between 15-20 minutes and that is if you take your time walking no speed walking required. We had a great time walking. Give yourself some extra time but it is faster then taking the Monorail. Once you are at MK you will need to go to the left entrance for CRT resevations.

Being a real coffee addict resigned to my Nescafe syrup fate next week at WL, I was surprised to find this (new) comment on another board:

"Roaring Fork snack bar now has fresh-brewed
coffee dispensed from a Bunn coffee maker. It
was very good. The Nescafe machine is still
available. We hotel hopped to GF, Poly, and
Contemporary, but saw only the Nescafe
machine at each location."

Can anybody who has been there very recently confirm or deny this? If it's true, I think they installed it knowing I was coming:bounce:

Thanks Kimberle and Beckie! I knew somebody here could help me out!

I kind of feel lost at this point in my planning. We've had this trip planned since last September, only we were booked at, and made all of our plans around staying at CBR (and we know our way around there 'cause we've stayed there previously!). Then lo and behold, on Tuesday morning I got one of the coveted e-mails with a rate of $121.00/night at WL!! Well, we couldn't pass that up now could we?! ;) So now, just a little less than two months from our trip, we're sorta back to square one in our planning!:rolleyes: Oh well, it's certainly not a bad problem to have! :teeth:

Thanks again for the help! Just a warning.....I may be needing some more as I get further into my planning!

Is this a good way to enter the park at opening? Does it get you ahead of any crowds?

I have a few questions about our trip next month.

1. How do we send in our room requests? I read somewhere that WL does not accept faxes.
2. We have booked woodsview. What is the rate to upgrade to concierge at check-in and how likely is it to happen? I would love to do it now but can't afford it since we are having to book 2 rooms this trip.
3. Is it possible to get something close to an elevator and how noisy would that be? My mother has cancer and it causes pain when walking, especially at the end of the day. However, I want her to have some quiet at the end of the day to be able to sleep since that doesn't always come easy to her. Last year, at both WL and AKL it seemed we walked a mile to our room from the elevators.
4. Do I need to request a crib for the baby now or at check-in?

Thanks for any advice and help you can send my way.

On our trip in May we arrived at the boat dock a little early (already had a large crowd waiting for the boat to MK) and the large Green Flag wasn't in site yet, there was one of the smaller Blue Flag Resort boats at the dock, I asked the Captain where she was headed she said Ft. Wilderness I said "Oh never mind, we are headed to the CR." She said well if noone here wants to go to Ft. Wilderness I'll run you over...we waited a minute and she said lets go...the first large Green Flag boat of the morning was docking over at Ft. Wilderness as we pulled out...when we arrived at the CR the other boat still hadn't arrived at WL yet so we just took our time and walked over to the Magic Kingdom. We were though security & turnstile near the entrance before the Green Flag boat arrived just before the opening.

It worked great for us as my DN's hate waiting in line for anything.

I'll try to answer some of your questions...
1. & 4.) All room request should be on your reservations...like bunk beds or King size bed...Magic Kingdom View...also if you didn't request being near a elevator I would call and add that before your arrival, request near not next to because you may hear the traffic from the elevator. (Explain about your Mother they will try and accommodate all request) But remember they are request and not guaranteed.

2.) As far as upgrading to concierge at check-in it will first depend on availablity, then how many people are in each room...they will give you that cost at check-in and I'm not sure of exact amount. (sorry)

3.) At all WDW resots they have pack-n-play cribs which aren't regular sized cribs but smaller. There has always be one in the closet when we arrived, but you may request it on your reservation or wait and request one when checking in.

Hope this helped.

Jlieblaw-

We had a room fairly near the less used elevator that opens up near other rooms that are on the lobby level (as opposed to the elevators that open up directly in front of the little bridge in the lobby). There seemed to be very little foot traffic to and from that particular elevator.
