Well it's official!!!

My mom, ds11, dd15, dd friend15 and me are staying at the Wilderness Lodge come December. I changed my ressie sooo many times I'm pretty sure they were quite sick of me:o

I went from Contemporary to Poly back to Comtemporary and then to Poly LVC until I saw FinFan post about the WL for 121.00 with the email code.

I'm actually saving by having 2 rooms at the WL which is just fine with me. Another plus is having 2 "BATHROOMS"

I know this has probably been answered before, but if you don't mind can someone tell me if there are woodsview room with a view of the castle.

Are these connecting rooms

Any advice you WL Vets can offer is really appreciated because I have nooo clue about this place other than Whispering Canyon:confused:

We're back :(
We got home last night. Thanks everyone for your advice. We arrived at the WL at 1pm on 7/29. We were asssigned room 5106. It was a woods view room (so no upgrade for us) looking out at the villas and right above the Cub's Den, we could see their sand/play area. The room was across the hall from the ice machine. The only time we heard the machine was in the AM. We were only two turns from the elevators and not far from the lobby. We did frequently hear the cow bells from outside the arcade.
At the beginning of the week the water in the pool was very warm. By later in the week it was cooler.
The last few days of our trip, the water in the shower was brownish/yellow in the evening. It cleared up by morning.
Bus transportation was efficient from the WL. To EPCOT, we stopped at the campgrounds on the way. To MGM & AK, we stopped at the Grand Floridian. The longest wait we had for any bus was 20 minutes at EPCOT.
The boats were great. Twice we took the boat to the Contemporary so we could have a monorail fix.
DD and I rubbed Humphrey's nose every time we went by for all you DISer's.
Now it's time to plan the next trip....

Majestic, I have balcony photos if you need them.

Glad you had a great stay Sue! Did you have a chance to eat at WCC?

PS. Thanks for the pixie dust guys...baby is feeling much better today!:teeth:

Zoo Keeper

Thank you Magicinmyheart. I will definitely do that:D

OK I just talked to CRO and this guy told me there is noo such thing as a Magic Kingdom View. I said ok what about a view of the fireworks is that possible NO! What about a view of the anything in the Magic Kingdom NO NO!! He stated IF I want to see the Magic Kingdom I would have to take a boat launch around the woods to view everything:rolleyes:

He then went on and on about how he stayed there several times and have NEVERRRR EVERRRR heard of such a view.

Do I believe him, not really because too many Disers stated they have had this view in the past. So I'll wait and call back later.

Boy Pongo69 did you get the wrong CM, just tell the next CM to add view of MK to your room request, not to change you room type. Most of the Woods View rooms are on the North side of the Lodge any some have beautiful views of the Castle and the CR with the monorail going in and out. When the room assigner at Wilderness Lodge reads your request they will know what you want.

Go to fred's Wilderness Lodge Balcony Views Just click on the link.

balcony view - room 5032 woodsview - kcdisdad - tim

So the CM was wrong.

Magic I called back after reading the 1st page of this thread and requested Northwing building B to my ressies. Like I said I didn't believe him because toooo many people on here said otherwise.

Thanks so very much for your help :D

BTW, I did look at the pics. They're really nice

We are going to stay at WL from 9/29 fro 4 nights.
Through my husband family, we were able to get Employee discount for all room except Jr.Suite. Should we still try to request for concierge level upgrades? Or, should we just happy that we already got some discounts.... Thank you!

To:MAGICinMYHEART,

Thank you for your quick words....
I thought so too...., but it would be pretty difficult
since we have 6 rooms together and my father in-law really wants us staying next to each others..... but, we will try!

Thank you!

Figured id post this here rather than look for a VWL thread in DVC

how many floors do the villas have?

If we have a studio booked are requests able to be made...
like where or what view.....(i know that a request is just a request)...but can requests still be made as if we had a "regular"
room, for lack of better phrasing.

Also are there any pics, other than that great balcony view link,
that show the views from the villas...or are there some villa views in there too....still looking at it...

SIX ROOMS? :earseek: That's even more then I have ever booked for famly and friends. How many people will be traveling with you?

llrain,

Hi, hadn't seen you around here in a while...hope all your special plans are in place...The Villas of Wilderness lodge has five stories with the fifth floor rooms having cathedral ceilings, making the villas seem larger (I have never stayed on the 5th floor so maybe not all rooms have them not 100% sure about this) For photo's of the Villas go to Deb's Unofficial site just click on the link below it will take you to the photo's:
Deb's VWL Photo's

You could request overlooking Hidden Springs Pool or near elevators, Most views over at the Villas are woods. Just click on the link below it will take you to a floor plan for villa locations at Wilderness Lodge:

"hope all your special plans are in place..."

They are getting there (hint hint)...Do you think if i said something to DVC or at the desk at check in they would accommodate somethin special for the special plans...Like a
nice woods view to just complete everything being perfect...

nother question since we have never stayed in a deluxe...
is valet parking a necessity? Like what is the absolute 1st thing we do when we drive up to the lodge...

We are used to CBR and POR where we park in visitors where at delux there arent any visitors spaces while we check in.

thanx for all help!!!

Magic....
You mention "near elevators" ...whats so great about being near an elevator other than closeness to leaving floor...

thought i read in prev posts to stay away from elevators and that one part of the bldg that ovewrlooks the dumpsters

It couldn't hurt..Magic happens...I would have it added to your reservations by MS, and notify the front desk when you check in, if noone is near.

First you pull-up at the Porte Cochere in front of the Wilderness Lodge. As a DVC Member valet parking is free...so we pull up notify the bellman or valet that we are DVC Members staying at the Villas, they unload the luggage and give you a clam ticket for the luggage and a clam ticket for the car. We at this point give the bellman a tip for unloading the car ect...(this will more then likely not be the same bellman that will deliver your luggage to your room so I give $5.00 for just unloading the car) The Bellman that delivers the luggage to your room should receive $2-$3 per bag a little more if you have several very heavy bags. The Valet gets $2.00 from me for parking the car...but if only one person assist you, only one tip is required. Anytime I request for the car to be broght to me I give the valet a few dollars going and coming. Since this is a special trip I would pull up like you own the place and let the Bellman and Valet's pamper you. This will impress any guest that will be with you (hint-hint) If when you check-in your villa isn't ready they will give you a card with a telephome # to call to receive your assigned Villa. When you are in the room you then call bellservices and request they deliver your luggage.

We are used to CBR and POR where we park in visitors where at delux there arent any visitors spaces while we check in. If you don't want to valet park you still can pull up to the Porte Cochere in front of the Wilderness Lodge and either have bellman take your luggage and take it to the baggage room until your checked-in (this is nice if you are arriving early and your room isn't ready) or you can unload your luggage yourself and have your friend wait with it while you park your car in guest parking. Then walk back to the entrance and take your luggage with you as you check-in...or you can just drive straight to guest parking walk back to the entrance go in check-in and retrieve your own luggage later after you are in your room.

Magic....

Right...well if you look at the lay-out of the villas you will see there are only one group of elevators and they are located near the entrance of the Villas far-far away from the studio's with the dumster views...If you are near the elevator banks you will have a short walk to your villa and will be far-far away from the dumpsters... :p After several days at the parks just walking down a long hallway can be overwhelming. I always like being near not next to the elevators where ever I'm staying.

Does such a map exist for the Wilderness Lodge?

Looking for some info - we will be at the WL this September. How early does transportation to the MK start? or the buses for the TTC to get to MK by monorail? We hope to book a tour that would require us to be at the MK at 7:15 am. TIA!

CuteAsMinnie

Not that I'm aware of...a DIS Member over on the DVC Board made the lay-out for the Villas. I wouldn't have a clue how to make one.

I'm not sure what time the bus starts running to TTC but my guess it would be early, the Blue Flag resort boat only start running at 7:00am to CR you would be cutting a 7:15 tour to close if you have to wait for the boat to make your connection either to CR/Monorail or CR/Walkway to Magic Kingdom. I'll see if I can find out what time the bus starts running. I will post here if I can find out...maybe another DIS Member knows???
