Has anyone ever used the Internet in room at WL??

Unfortunately, I have to be able to connect to the Internet daily and will have to bring along my laptop and was wondering how the Internet service was.

I contacted WL and was told that WL has dial up service only.

Hi everyone

Guess what? I was able to start making our PS's today! YAHOOO!!

We have decided to give WCC a try for lunch.Originally we were going to do breakfast there, but we just won't get our wish value(silver plan) out of breakfast.
I had even considered scraping WCC, but I simply cannot stay at Wilderness Lodge and not eat there

I did have another pontoon boat question for you............we are going to take one morning and rent either a pontoon or the other boat,(can't remember its name). Our magical wishes will cover 30 minutes each.
Do you think 30 minutes is enough to explore Bay Lake?Or should we take an hour?
And does anyone know how far we are allowed to go?I mean is there a certain perimeter or something we must stay inside?

Hi Valera!
This is a good question for Majestic. I know he posted live while on his recent stay at Poly----maybe he knows about WL internet service as well.

Fred??????

yes..dial up is it...but Fred has some crafty way of getting dial up if you don't have access...oh FRED!!

*LMAO....everyone outta the pool!!*

Remindes me of nursing...but THAT, is a story of it's own and poor Fred and the others don't need that!!!

REPOST ALERT! :)

When I am in Orlando or traveling out of state, I use a company called MyFreeI.com for dialup internet access. They provide up to 10 hours a month of up to 56k dialup internet service for free. Each additional hour after 10 is billed at a $1 per hour with a max of $10 per month.

They work great and I have not had a problem connecting yet.

Take note that local calls at Disney are billed at the rate of 75 cents per call flat rate. There is no per minute charge AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT DIAL A LONG DISTANCE NUMBER. (This information was current up to January 2004 and may have changed since. Please check with the resort prior to your stay.) I emphasize that because I have read stories of people staying at Disney with $500 to $600 phone bills because of this!! Make sure that you ask the operator or hotel desk to confirm your dialup access number is in fact a local call FROM THE HOTEL. Local calls may or may not be different depending on where you are staying.

The number I use for them while staying at Wilderness Lodge is 407-641-4014. As of January 2004, I was not charged long distance for this number. I cannot promise you anything after that date.

Disclaimer: I cannot be held responsible for any bills or long distance charges you may get simply for providing you with this helpful information. :) Double check your dial numbers!

Pontoon rental is a MUST DO for each of our stays. :)

I would recommend at LEAST 1 hour so you can actually enjoy it. We usually do Bay Lake AND THe 7 Seas Lagoon over a period of 1.5 hours. It's very relaxing. Bring your camera and take lots of cool pictures.

Hope this helps.

Well, I thought I had all the Standard View rooms at the WL figured out and now a MouseEars agent has posted something on another board that has confused me. I'm hoping that some of the WL vets in this thread can help me. Here's what the poster on another board said:

"The North side rooms that are over the lobby are Woods View, not Standard View. Our last stay was in room #4089, a Woods View over the lobby and WCC. The view was okay (trees, landscaping and a glimpse of the front driveway) and the location was very convenient."

This contradicts what several have posted in this thread (and also in the "where did you stay at WL" thread)...they indicated that the rooms on the 6th 5th and 4th floor numbered in the 080s were "Standard View". Based on that info, I just requested a Standard room on the North side opening onto the lobby...now somebody is saying that's Woods View!

Can anybody help? Is it possible that WL has recently re-assigned some Standard View rooms into the Woods View category?

It did help, alot! Thankyou so much Fred :worship:

When we were there last week, the only method of internet access is dial up. It wasn't too slow, although we are a bit spoiled with wifi at home! Hope this helps, and make sure if you do not use dial up at home, that your service has dial up hours included. :D

Rooms above WCC are indeed Woods View! The lobby rooms that are above check-in are standard view rooms! All this info is posted on page 1 of this thread...and just to be certain, I checked with my contact(who is a room assigner at WL). This is accurate info.! She also said, "that requests are usually met"...so you may get upgraded to that woods view!

Located on Floors 4,5 & 6. On the North(MK) side, they face the service area. There are also 4th floor rooms that overlook the lobby and look out to roof peaks. Lobby rooms do have balconies.

AspiringCindy,

Now I'm confused, wouldn't the rooms above the WCC face the service area, making them standard views? The service area on the North side of the lodge goes down to where the second wing starts...near elevator at Roaring Fork? And what about the third floor? Sorry I may have given guest wrong information because I understood that rooms over the service area on the North side where standard view.

Maybe some of the guest that have reported standard view room being over the WCC where in fact upgraded to woods view?

Hello everyone! I've come back to lick my wounds on my favorite thread! I think it's safer over here...

I know my mom got upgraded once at CSR to water view and wasn't aware of it until she checked out, so maybe that IS what's happening. I have a woods view, so I'll try to pay attention to what way I'm facing, take photographic evidence, and report back when I return.

I also have a question

I know that I can get e-tickets at the front desk at WL. Then, I have to take these tickets with me to MK before E-ticket time starts and change them for wrist bands. I also have to have used DS hopper and my AP at one of the main parks that day before E-ticket time. Is that right? I've done this stuff before, but always with my mom (the expert) so I'm not sure I paid attention sufficiently to do it on my own. I read Allearsnet, but got myself confused again.

]--------------------------------------------------------

I am checking with the CM...I will post the definite info. as soon as she responds to my PM! We will have this cleared up SOOON!

We have made PS at Chef Mickey's for 7am.

I am worried thought, do the boats to CR run that early??

Also, if we have PS at that time on a Monday which is EE day at AK is that enough time to get out there or should I try to change it to Thurs which is EE day at MK??

Thank you for any help on this!

The response from my connection has just come in!
It is true!...rooms above WCC are Woods View!

I, too, got a definitive response from somebody who is "in the know", and I can confirm the following:

As AspiringCindy reported, ALL rooms opening on the Lobby on the North side of the hotel (over WCC) are Woods View: 4th, 5th and 6th floor, numbers 081 thru 090.

In addition, all 5th and 6th floor rooms opening on the lobby on the SOUTH side (over front desk) are also Woods View: numbers 091 thru 099.

The only Standard rooms are:

4091 thru 4099 off of the Lobby on the South side (right over rooves, looking towards the bus stop).

4th 5th and 6th floor rooms in the first North Wing, even numbers between 042 and 066 (facing Magic Kingdom, with service area/smokehouse/waste receptacle below).

Thank you both, AC and Ronald Duck, for investing the time to thoroughly investigate the Standard View vs. Woods View room numbers.

The only requests I made for my Standard Room are that it is non-smoking and that it opens onto the lobby. So I guess we'll be facing South. Thank you both so much again!

:wave2:

Thanks for the clarification on the rooms. Now I have a very important question: If you had a Woods View reserved, which area/floor would you request? Why? Thanks! 13 days to WL!!!!
