NOT IF I GET IT FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What are the chances of being chosen for Flag Family if we come in mid-week? Also, I asked for a woods view (hoping for a peek at MK), but are there any bunkbed rooms that have a view of MK on CL?

Thanks, guys!

to everyone who has posted to my question about room locations at WL at Christmas. You've been very helpful. I've given the info to family and they would like the lobby view if possible. So I think I will call and add that to our reservation.

Cheriesam....the room you had at WL (5073)...was that one of the "bear face rooms"? I will put in a request for this room with a second choice being another room in the same area. Sounds like this was a great room to have.

A couple of questions about "Water Mice"

My ds (soon to be 13) is interested in the water mice. Can he rent one on his own or does he need an adult with him?

Are they safe?

My dd is 11...can she ride one with an adult with her?

My dw cannot swim so I don't think she will want to try one. She plans on hitting the hot pools, which should be nice in December.

Thanks again for everyone's help!!! :wave2:

:( I just saw in another thread that they raised the age for water mice (by yourself) to 16 because there was an accident near the Contemporary between 2 water mice.

I have no way of knowing if this is true or not so you may want to verify the age with Disney.

WOW! I just a read a thread a few days ago that said the age was 12?! I wonder if they actually raised it to 16?

If you do not get a room where youcan see MK & Fireworks, you can go to the large windows where building "A" & "B" intersect. Pull back the shutters and it is a good view. 5th & 6th floors would be best, also the RF elevatore is the shortest way to go up.

Enjoy the home of the Bear.

Regarding water mice - I have to say if I had kids that age, I'd be very hesitate allowing them to drive them. Maybe it was the huge crowds last week, but the lakes were just full of all kinds of boats (water mice, boats carrying people to parks, etc.). It looked very, very dangerous to me. Several times we saw very near collisions between the water mice and other boats. Our boat driver on the way to MK had to blow his horn alot to warn the water mice to stay out of our path. I'm amazed more folks are not hurt in collisions.

That's a scary thought !

I would agree on not letting my child doing it. He just doesn't have the experience or capabilities to handle watercraft. I think it goes back to the parent knowing what their child can and can not do. Some kids grow up around boats and jet skis and know how to operate one safely. I can see both sides of the coin.

Thank you cheriesam for confirming that your room was in the "bear face" part of the lodge. We will ask for that room specifically or something close to room 5073, if possible. I know we have a courtyard view so maybe we will get it.

Thanks Wolfpack fan and VAgal for the advice on water mice. We (famlily) are not what you would call water people, although most of us are good swimmers. We have little experience with watercraft. I guess when I heard the term "water mice" I thought of something very small and very safe. I definately will not have my son going out on one alone. Do you know if two people can fit on one? Does Disney supply lifejacts or vests to those who use them? Any help you can give me will be very helpful. Thanks!!! :wave2:

SpeechGuy - I would imagine they would provide lifejackets. The water mice look like 2 seaters. I don't think they would be hard to operate, but I don't think they are made for putting around either. I didn't intend to scare the jeebies out of anyone! I can just see my son driving one with his head turned in opposite direction he's going - LOL! But that's just my son!

I haven't been to WDW yet so I only comment what I see on the sites. I've been on boats and jet skis and know what to expect - including being flown off a jet ski going 55 mph - OUCH! I wasn't driving, by the way.

I have to go back and review what they offer for watercraft rentals. Don't be totally turned off by two peoples statements. They are only opinions. You can even wait for others to post as well as call WDW and get more info. Do what you feel comfortable with. Like I said - I'm an overly cautious parent about some things and this is one of those things.

I say have fun, but be safe! :wave2:

Water mice are great fun!! ::yes::

Certainly a fun way to get a different perspective of the MK and Bay Lake resorts.

My DD (age 6) and I rented one on two different occaisions. Easily fits two adults and easy to operate. The CMs at the boat rental give you a 'lesson' on operation before they send you out. Vests are included with the rental.

We were there in October- not peak time- so it was easy to go out and not feel like we were in the middle of crazy boat drivers on Bay Lake. There are CMs in boats that patrol the Bay to help out but also keep people under control.

I had the Mouse going full throttle and felt totally safe tooling around with DD in the boat. You can putt too- your choice.

Have fun!

Thanks VAgal and campinggal for the info. My son is excited to try the water mice and I am, too. I know there is so much to do at WL. We'll just have to plan accordingly and take in as much as we can. We will probably have at least 2 or 3 additional days (other than parks) to explore WL, and other resorts. We'd love to have other suggestions, too. Thanks again!:wave2:

For you newbies. You can take the Launch, Blue Flag, over to Ft. Wilderness. Walk to Trials End, an excellent Buffet. In the evening you can take the orange bus from in from of Trail’s End to the Meadows Trading Post. Behind is a campfire where you can fix Smores, can get the fixins from the Chuck Wagon. Then Chip N Dale make appearance, a Disney song sing a long. Then a full featured Disney movie, no costs to WDW guests. Starts at 8:00 PM
There are bleachers or you can take a blanket.

Hello, everyone! I have been watching the boards for a while now. Bed bugs, Mac strollers, campfire...wow! so much info and so little time. DH and I have not been to WDW in 5 years, before that honeymoon and 4 other times. Last was during Floyd stayed shut in at hotel for 1 1/2 days. Had son 9 months later...great story huh! By the way we didn't name him Floyd.

For DS first trip we wanted to come back to WL and show him a "grand cabin" and also be close to MK where we usually spend so much time.

You all have helped w/ room info and much more facts about WL. Just wanted to finally say "hi" and of course a question, can DS almost 4 ride w/ hubby on mouse boats?

A big Humprey Welcome to our "family", thanks for jumping in. To answer your question might be better asked at the boat dock. I think the chances are good, but not positive. In case you have forgotten, there is a kiddie pool down by the Geyser. The Geyser shoots ff at 7:00 AM and on the hour until 10:00 PM. Over towards the boat docks is the play ground.

Enjoy the Magic of the Lodge and let the little kid inside you free to enjoy it.

Q: Can DS almost 4 ride w/ hubby on mouse boats?

Hello and Welcome Home, to answer your question Yes ::yes:: the Marina will have small lifejackets that will fit your son...(you can also keep the lifejacket for the duration of your trip The Lodge provides lifejackets for all childern for the watermice or just for swimming) They can also go down the slide with the lifejacket. One of my nephew's was about three the first time we took him out on a watermice, he loved it.

Have a Great Trip.

I remember Floyd, was also @ WDW, We where all ready to go when 9/11 happened, then Floyd was dumping rain and high winds, we had talked about canceling the trip, but decided NO we would not cave into terrorist.
