The New (Part 4) WL FAQ Thread...Just the Facts M'am!

This was the first year I made a POINT of sitting in the Lobby each night and relaxing. Mom was with me, so I didn't get a drink, but we filled our mugs with coffee and just RELAXED!!

I also enjoyed the 4th and 5th floor fireplace that (shame on me) I never knew about till this year!

Ah DDN, that 4th floor fireplace is a dream spot huh?
We would put our jammies on and sit with our mugs of coffee or hot cocoa in front of that fire at night, and it was so wonderful. Christmas tree glistening, Christmas music playing, just sitting and taking it all in. Some of the best memories of our vacation! I wish I was still going in 10 days, but everything happens for a reason, so I'm not being a "baby" about it, but it would have been nice...........

One of our favorite places is to grab a drink and sit on the deck at the end of the lobby. The sight and sound of Silver Springs making its way to the falls is very relaxing.

We have a courtyard view but would like a room overlooking the main lobby. We have asked for an inner courtyard view on the 4th or 5th floor, overlooking the lobby as our first choice. Our second choice is a lobby room on the north side above WCC. Does this seem to make sense as a request to stay in the main building?

Thanks!!!:wave2:
You want a room on the 4th or 5th floor Bears Face. The balcony overlooks the courtyard and the door opens to the lobby.Contact DisneyDmbNut for what room numbers she had.

You have made a wise decision to stay at our "home", but I must warn you that not all of you will check out. A part remains and you are obsessed forever on how to return

We have stayed at WL twice and staying again in just a few weeks and cannot wait. I read somewhere that WL does not accept room requests like other resorts. Is this true? Oddly, I never thought about sending one in on our first trips. I have a Woods View and have seen a few posts regarding rooms facing the Villa's roof and to request the North Wing fourth or fifth floor. If they don't accept a room request, how do you go about doing this?

They stopped accepting *fax* requests a few months ago. They do accept requests that are included in your room reservation. Just call CRO, WDT, or whomever made your reservation & have your requests added.

All other WDW resorts are expected to follow suit and stop accepting faxes too.

Enjoy your stay!!

Room 4067

This room opens to the lobby, right behind the fireplace...I could see the Creek and Bay Lake ( a tree does obstruct the lake partially) but it was nice!! The Fireplace seemed to block some of the lobby noise. I plan to ask for it again in 15 DAYS!!!!

on requests, when I booked my reservation, I asked for "The Bear's Face". The reservationist didn't know what I was talking about, but I assured her that the CM's at the Lodge would know. They will make a note, but this does not mean you will get that...it is simply a "request". Since I got the upgrade for free, I was happy!!

Some dumb WL newbie questions. Do standard rooms have balconies? Can you see the sun rise or set over the lake? Is the pool bar open at night? Where's the best place to have a night cap outside? Do you think you get a better room, the earlier you book? Thank you for any suggestions!!!!

Thanks to everyone for your help as we consider a room request for our stay at WL. My wife and I have been to Disney 6 times, the last trip with our two little ones. Now, the little ones are pre-teens and we will be celebrating the Christmas holidays at WL and WDW. I should tell you this will be our very first on-site Disney stay.

We've have gone back and forth about which resort to choose. We've considered CR and Poly for the monorails. We also thought about YC or BC because of the pools. But quite honestly, after hearing all of the wonderful things that everyone has said about everyone's "home away from home," we always keep coming back to WL. We made the ressies and now only need to consider where we would like our room. We got a AAA discount for a courtyard view.

Since we will be at the Lodge at Christmas, everyone in the family believes it would be great to be able to open our room door to the fabulous decorated lobby. Fred made a good point when he said that this area (especially at Christmas) might get a little noisy and we might want to consider a room on one of the wings overlooking the pool or lake. This way, we can enjoy the view from the balcony and can walk to the lobby to enjoy the spirit of the holidays. FloridaCat and Betsy mention the Bear Face which will give us both options (if CM grant this request). So I guess I am asking all of you WL vets who know the resort inside and out......if a lobby room (bear face or even a woods view room) would be better for the sprit of the season or should we go for the peace and quiet and view of the pool or lake. You folks did a great job in helping us decide that WL is the right choice for us. Now, I just need a little more of your expertise to put the finishing touches on our trip. Thanks...it is nice to be part of the WL family!

Snoopymom...First of all...there are NO DUMB questions here! ;)
And the standards do have balconies! :teeth:

Speechguy...glad to see you here! A great bunch of folks and alot of wonderful info!::yes::

I'm as bad as floridafam.....I called yesterday to check on more WL CL AP discounts for June...and there are MORE in the system!

I'm really toying with the idea of staying there in JUNE for the
WHOLE TRIP!!!!!

I'm so excited about returning to the LODGE!!!!!:bounce:

Snoopymom-
Yes standard rooms have balconies, unless you are the first floor where you would have a patio.

I dont remember how late the pool bar is open, but I dont remember it being open after dark at all.
We would get drinks from Territory Lounge in the hotel in plastic cups and drink them by the pool at night while the kids swimmed.

I would be happy with any room at WL. Just being there is good enough for me!!

BambiTamby,

Glad to hear more discounts opened up. I don't even know why I called as we are doing a package.

Do you think you will end up there for your whole trip? It is a wonderful place to be. :D

I called WDW-Play for information on the price change. The CM I spoke with said the plan is still in effect for $199, length of stay, but now only for 4 guests, not 5.

Of course, maybe the CM was wrong? Or did they put the plan on hiatus during the peak spring break season?

Anyways, just thought I'd share.

Diana

Ok, you are staying IN the hotel so getting to the lobby to see how grand it looks isn't that difficult. After a long day at the parks, we like to get away from it all. WL is good for that too! It's like a vacation from the parks. If it were ME, we would get a room that is away from the noise. It's not that hard to jump on th eelevator to get down the lobby or even walk down the hall to look over the railing.

Welcome to the family! Take note of what FloridaCat said, once you have gone to the lodge, a little piece of you stays there.

Hope this helps you decide.

Fred

It does help, Fred...Thanks. That's one vote for the peace and quiet of a room far removed from the lobby. I notice you will be at WDW next month. Anything special planned for this trip? I heard the poly is a first rate resort. You should have a great time. Enjoy and thanks for the welcome!:wave2:

Hello everyone - we stayed at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge last week and had a fantastic time in spite of the huge crowds. I took a lot of pictures and have put some out on Webshots. Included are a number of pictures of the Wilderness Lodge. If you are interested in looking at them, go to this link -
pictures from our WDW trip.

The pictures are not in any order and most of the Wilderness Lodge ones are towards the end.

On any normal visit, I would say go for the peace and quiet!...but for Christmas, I may be swayed into choosing a lobby room! There is such a festive feel to that lobby during the holidays! But Fred is right! The lobby is just a stones throw away!

I am so happy to see so many new names here on our thread. Iam sorry I was not here to greet you, but greet you I do. Welcome and may you be a part of the greatest "family" on this site.
I am back and getting better, so you will see the weather on Part 4, and comments on Humphrey's Home on the Community Board. Again welcome and see you around.
I also want to affirm
THERE ARE NO DUMB QUESTIONS AND NO QUESTION HAS BEEN ASKED TO MANY TIMES NOT TO GET AN ANSWER.

So if you don't see it on page one, ask away.
