Did anyone book a value resort with the princess discount. I would like to know what the rates are. I have not officially signed up yet for the race.

Thanks

:cool1: Booked a Boardwalk studio this morning! Can't wait to stay there and check out all the cool places in the area. Never stayed there before.

I got a quote from Disney, and then from IRUN. I am not entirely sure how good the discount really is because I got two different prices for the same package from Disney. But, the price with IRUN ended up being about $200 different from the lowest quote with Disney.
But, my sister actually booked for $250 cheaper through Disney than through IRUN. :confused3
It seems like it's just kind of luck of the draw. But, the second guy at Disney(who gave me the lower of the two quotes) said "I'll give you a little tip: take any discount you can get through IRUN" because he didn't think that there were many discounts being offered with the PHM at all.
Because we are staying at AoA in a LM and I know they have been hard to book, I just snapped up my resie. I didn't want to risk not getting my room, but I got the feeling that if you really shopped around, you could probably get a better deal.

Love Boardwalk!!! It's a great resort. We will be across Cresent Lake at Beach Club....

Having a race related dilemma....

Some background: I have three kids, 8,6,&3 who are huge Disney fans and are itching to go. We go about every 18 months to 2 years. Our last trip as a family was Dec '08. They want our next trip to be a surprise.

Ok, so I have been planning on running the 2013 princess pretty much since I saw the video of the 2009 race. It was my "before I turn 40" thing to do. I will turn 40 July of 2013. We had decided that the trip to the Princess was going to be the next trip, the surprise trip. Now I am wondering if this is a good idea. With the expo, getting to bed early and wanting to take it easy prior to the race, we are going to lose a lot of touring time. If I am miserable after the race, the kids will lose even more park time. We could eat up a lot of our vacation with Mom and her race and the kids would probably not be back to Disney until late 2014 or 2015. Is that really fair to them? Conversely, I went to Disney with a friend in Oct. of 2011 and did not take the kids. If DH and I go do a half trip just the two of us, that would be two Disney trips for me and zero for them. I feel like I just can't win.

Thoughts?
Hi!

I understand how you feel about feeling like you could never win but you can have a wonderful family vacation and run the half. We surprised our 5 kids (ages 12, 10, 9, 8 and 2) last Christmas with a trip for Disney's marathon weekend. I ran the Goofy challenge. Yes, they had to compromise on the Saturday so that we could pick up our packets (we all ran the 5k together as well) but we went early so that we could spend some time at a park afterwards. Then we had an early dinner, put them to bed around 8h30 and to be honest, even though you should get to bed early too, it is very difficult because the excitement really gets to you!:)

As others have said, the best thing to do after the race (and a shower or ice bath!) is to walk around the parks to help your muscles recuperate.

We were at the parks 3 days after the marathon weekend so my kids were not going to let my 39.3 miles stop them from visiting Disney. Plus, when your youngest is napping in the stroller or at your hotel, you could take that time to relax. Trust me, you will have a great time...

Whatever you decide, good luck!

I also had a weird IRUN experience vs normal Disney line.

I called both lines twice and got the same quotes from the Disney line, but 2 different quotes from IRUN. Both times, the regular Disney line was a tad bit cheaper. Not a lot, but it was weird. I ended up booking through the regular Disney line. We priced AOA suites and LM rooms. Ended with 2 LM rooms.

I also figured that if there was a chance of any discounts coming out (room only or AP discounts) I would be able to apply them to my Disney room, and not to the IRUN rooms, so I went this route. 2 days later, the AAA discounts were added and I ended up with 10% off my regular Disney room.

So---- call both lines. See what they say. It didn't sound like much of a discount from RunDisney to me at all. I asked about other properties too and those quotes weren't very low either.

Let's talk about underwear...what do you wear to run? I need something for these long runs where it is a little hot. Thoughts?

Calling all Canadian Princesses! We are thinking of doing a Royal Princess Gathering at the After Party of the Toronto Women's Run on August 25. We have 5 princesses-in-training confirmed for that race so far...any others? We are planning on the Facebook Princess Group. Hoping it will be a grand gathering!

I had to bike instead of run/walk today. :(

Back in Jan I got plantar fasciitis in my left foot from being overweight, carrying my baby on my left hip too much and doing all the jumping in Zumba. I quit Zumba, lost 22 lbs, and wore shoes or fancy flip flops with arch support all the time and that cleared it up. My run/walk seemed to be not upsetting it, but all of the sudden it's back. I did spend 45 min barefoot running around a gym with my toddler for his gymnastics class which I think is what triggered it.

So, for now I'm icing it, stretching my feet and biking instead of running.

Any other advice? Should I be able to run again soon? ???

I'm currently in PT for bad case of this. One thing the therapist has me do is stretch long and light both the feet and lower calf. When your at home, use a dish towel, loop it around your toes/upper foot and pull back until you feel a light stretch. Do this for at least 30 seconds. Also do this every morning before you step out of bed (helps with the win of the first step). During the day, roll your foot I on a frozen bottle of water. Hurts for the first few seconds bc if the cold but then feels great. Apply pressure to your comfort (this should hurt). Hope this helps!

Moving comfort Fiona sports bra (great if the girls are larger) and moving comfort bikini panties.

Just stopping in to say Hello! I'm April, and I'm registered for the Princess Half next year. It'll be both my first half marathon and my first RunDisney event.

Hey, I've never met you, and this is crazy,
But I'll be there too, so room with me, maybe?

I started using KT tape. Google it and you will find a ton of info. It is like an elastic tape in cool colors. They have videos on their website on how to apply it for different problems. It really helped! (got mine at walmart). I walked in my crocs a lot at first when it was bad, then started going barefoot as I was told it was really good for it and my foot pain only seems to come after a long run now! And just for a few hours.

YEAH! Boardwalk is filling up with princesses!
