 Ummmmm..... i don't wear underwear when running. Of course I have a bra, but no panties. I just started this a few months ago and will never go back!

Me too.

We're getting TMI already. ;)

So excited to say that I will be running my first half marathon and it will be the Disney Princess Half Marathon! I began training with couch to 5k and will begin the Jeff Galloway protocol after.

Im trying to figure out what hotel would be best to stay at for the best price. My husband is coming along to cheer me on but he isn't the biggest Disney World fan so I have to make it nice! (I have brought him twice in the past 2 years :D)

Yay!!!!

I'm currently in PT for bad case of this. One thing the therapist has me do is stretch long and light both the feet and lower calf. When your at home, use a dish towel, loop it around your toes/upper foot and pull back until you feel a light stretch. Do this for at least 30 seconds. Also do this every morning before you step out of bed (helps with the win of the first step). During the day, roll your foot I on a frozen bottle of water. Hurts for the first few seconds bc if the cold but then feels great. Apply pressure to your comfort (this should hurt). Hope this helps!

Thanks for the tips!

Long time watcher, first time poster! But its big news that i had to share! My hotel is booked (Swan) and I'm officially signed up for the race! My husband still can't believe that I am doing it - I've never, ever been runner before now. But, I need motivation and Disney does it for me! ;)

Let's talk about underwear...what do you wear to run? I need something for these long runs where it is a little hot. Thoughts?

Mark me down as another who goes commando for running. It never occurred to me to wear any...I imagine it's awfully uncomfortable! I just wear a sports bra of course, a top, and compression shorts on the bottom. And since we're sharing TMI anyway :)...lots of body glide around the bikini area...it's a life saver!!

Moving comfort Fiona sports bra (great if the girls are larger) and moving comfort bikini panties.

i second moving comfort fiona bra...it really is the best! I'm a 32C, which is kinda an odd size. Most bras run in the small/med/large...so while the small bra would be narrow enough for me, it was not nearly enough support, and would be so tight around me i would end up very severely chafed to the point of bleeding. It's been SO much better since I switched to the fiona bra.

But as far as underwear, I just make sure to buy running shorts with liners, and just go with that. I've been doing that for years...can't imagine anything else!

Welcome! Disney got me running too. Now I love it!

I'm another fan of going commando! I figure the less I'm wearing, the less I'll get chafed, and Body Glide is terrific. I love compressions shorts because it significantly lessens the thunder thighs.:rotfl:

On a *really* happy note, I did 5 miles this morning of mostly running with just a few walk breaks!! I haven't done that since my surgery in January, and it felt SO good!!

Oh I forgot this... just a thought on the plantar fasciitis problem.... I have had it in the past twice and both times the best cure was time and orthotics. Mostly time, which is not what anyone wants to hear now.:( My feet have not been my friends for many years and long runs always left me suffering for at least 24 hours afterward. However, on a whim I started using running shoes with a much lower heel to toe drop and found that my feet were much better. Now I run in Brooks Pure Cadence, which I believe is a 0 heel to toe drop, and it's like I've got new feet! I also go barefoot or in sock feet all the time in the house and do a couple of stretching/strengthening exercises from physical therapy. Keeping my feet on a natural level as much as possible has taken the pressure off the balls of the feet and has made running much more comfortable.

This conversation is cracking me up... only because I was totally going to post about the same thing! I usually wear dri-fit capris to run, but I was worried about the whole chaffing issue with a longer run- so the mention body glide is just what I needed to read! lol

Just posting my miles for today 7.6. first time I broke 7 miles.:cool1: I do a run/walk/run. I am so excited. I did it in 1 hour 40 minutes. I am now starting to think I can actually do a half.

On the undie issue. I always wear moisture wicking undies from Road Runners. Never had a problem till tonight, got some chafing along the bikini line but only on one side. I guess I'll add that to my body glide spots. I've thought of trying comando with my comprssion shorts, but I'm afraid of getting, well, a frontal wedgie. Anyone had any problem like this with going comando?

I'm joining in the thread too. I'll be running in the half with one of my friends. This is my first half marathon and my first runDisney event. I'm so excited! And a little worried about keeping up with training once fall term gets in full swing.

Been running for several years and never had an issue- although I wear shorts over my tights (I like pockets- and others don't need to see the chub wiggle.) I've never felt a wedgie of any kind in my running tights. The longer I run the more body glide I wear because the salt in the sweat gets more abrasive as it builds up.

Congrats! Doesn't it feel good! My farthest is 7.2 miles but it should be upped soon as my training increases the next few weeks! I do mostly run, with some walk breaks.

Never had a wedgie. I have been wearing running skirts with the tight shorts attached. I also use body glide. I love it. It really helps with the thighs rubbing together.

That is great! I did 7.1 this morning and it felt great. This is REAL!

I am a little worried about that too. I am a teacher so being home this summer has been great for my training and I am worried about the upcoming months when things are busier and then as the daytime get shorter so less run time. I hope the 5 months I have it will help carry me through the rough parts

Fortunately my college has a fantastic gym that is included in my fees. I much prefer running outside, but at least I have the option. The downside? The indoor track is only 1/7 mile. It seems like you'd get dizzy doing distance running. :lmao: And the treadmills have a 30 min limit, so I'd have to switch treadmaills every 30 mins. :lmao:

bahahaha! :rotfl2: I have an indoor track that is 12 laps for one mile. Oy. But it's A/C, so I won't complain too much!

Commando here, too, lol! In hot weather, it's either running shorts or skorts - either way, no undies needed. In cooler temps I go with tights or form-fitting capris, both of which have the little liner thing built-in, so no need for undies there, either.

About Body Glide... did I get a malfunctioning stick? When I apply, it makes my skin sticker, no "gliding" there at all. Maybe it's no match for FL humidity?! IDK, but I've had better luck with a little Vaseline.
