Stacy, how scary, but I am glad you are both doing ok. I can't believe he was almost 10 lbs!!!

Kara, congrats to Caleb for holding is own bottle! Good luck on the interviews! :wizard:

Spencer has decided that he doesn't want to at his own food, but wants what is on our plates (even if it's the same thing).
He has discovered he likes guacamole and LOVES grapefruit juice. He will start yelling and jumping up and down as soon as he sees the bottle. I allow him a few sips out of my cup, but I think he would drink the entire thing if allowed.

Ok, maybe I shouldn't complain so much about DH bringing DS to bed, since at least he helps out with Alex when he is home. I sometimes forget how lucky I am that he does that because to me, these are things a father "should" do, not be praised for doing, but it seems like there are still too many men out there that don't.

I read the most disturbing story in the newspaper this weekend. A couple in Detroit was convicted of trying to cremate their 2 year old on a barbecue. Seriously, what is wrong with some people. And neither one is going to prison for life - the father got 20-50 years, and the mother only got 10-15 somehow :confused3 There punishment should be sterilization - some people just shouldn't have kids!

HI Stacy - what a scary time you had with "little" CJ! I'm glad you're both doing alright and I just can't imagine how big he would be if you made it full term!

Amber - Alex's cousin loves grapefruit too, he'll eat a whole one plain!

Hi everyone else! I hope everyone is having a good weekend - they must be since it's not too busy here!

Congrats, Stacy! I'm glad CJ is doing better, and hope you are both home soon!

Kara - isn't it great when they can hold their own bottles? I'm looking forward to Owen being able to use a spoon and fork. He's great with finger food, but just doesn't have the fine motor skills to get the spoon/fork thing to work yet.

Amber, Owen is like that, too - only wants to eat off of our plates! I can't eat anything in front of him without giving him, some, too. And he likes my unsweetened grapefruit juice, too! Isn't that funny how they go for things like that? One of Owen's favorite snacks is the plain, unfrosted mini shredded wheat cereal. Totally bland to me, but he likes those "crackers" as he calls them.

Polito, that story of the couple in Detroit is so freaky!! How can people even think of doing something like that??!!!

Well, Owen has ANOTHER cold. I know it's normal, but man, I wish he'd stop getting sick and passing it on to us. I'm miserable, plus I have AF and cramps.

DH thinks he might be getting it, too, which is really bad because he's in a crazy busy season at work. He's a project manager and his job description is to manage one or two major projects at a time. Well, he's got 3 major projects PLUS his boss gave him some operations responsibilities as well to cover for people who were laid off. One of the projects ends on Thursday, so he has to work mega hours to get it wrapped up. And then all next week he's in training 10 hrs a day, but he also still has to oversee the remaining 2 projects. :sad2:

Poor guy is going to be miserable if he's also sick. And of course all his extra hours means he won't be able to help me when I'm sick and Owen is sick. And don't you hate it that it's hardest to sleep when you are sick and need it the most? Poor Owen isn't sleeping well because of his cold, and he's a pill half the time because of it, and I'm tired because I'm sick and not sleeping well, either. Sigh. Oh well. 3 more weeks, and then things should get easier.

At least the weather is nice now, and we had a big day of yardwork yesterday and got the back yard cleaned up so now Owen can play outside and I can lay in my hammock or sit in my adirondak chairs and relax. We have artificial grass (it looks real) but somehow there were still weeds that managed to grow up through the drain holes so we had to weed the fake grass! We also cleaned up all the outdoor toys and playhouse, and we're going to make a sandbox for Owen, too. We still need to do one more big pruneing/weeding weekend, but we've at least made the yard liveable again.

bethany...too funny about weeds in your fake grass. I wish we had fake grass...would be a whole lot less to mow! We had such a nice day yesterday. Caleb and I went shopping and it ended up getting up to 75...i didn;t know it was going to be that nice so we both were in long sleeves and I was in a sweatshirt but we weren't too hot though. Can;t wait til it is nice all the time and we can be outside more. We will be spending a lot of time at my parents trailer at the lake this summer and spending a lot of time in the pool.

Okay,I am very excited..Zoe has peed on the potty a couple of times now! She is no where near ready to train of course, but I bought potties for the twins like a month ago and they like sitting on them when I go. Well, I got the idea yesterday that since they often pee in the bath, I would sit them on the potty before bath, while the bathwater is running. I also poured just a little warm water on their crotch to get the idea of "wetness " there. Sure enough, Zoe peed last night and tonight! Hopefully this will start them making the connection of where the pee goes! I figure if they wake up from nap dry I will sit them on the potty too and see what happens!

We did the March of Dimes walk yesterday, 4 miles or so pushing the double stroller..go me! The twins enjoyed it and they even got T shirts that say "I am a March of Dimes Miracle!" since they were preemies! We have had a nice weekend!

Hi everyone!

Stacy, it's good to hear from you again. I'm glad to hear you both ended up doing well. I hear you about being outnumbered - DH, Christopher, our dog, and both cats vs. me :)

Bethany -Ugh, another cold? Doesn't it seem like our kids will never get over all this stuff this winter?

Amber - Christopher does the same thing with wanting to eat exactly what we're eating. Even if he has exactly the same thing on his plate, it must taste better from our plates. Normally, I wouldn't care, but we've generally measured out his food so we know what he's eaten for carbs.

Meredith - congrats on the walk! That's awesome, good for you.

Kara - good luck with the interviews!

Hi everyone else!

Nothing new around here - Christopher has been able to get out and play since the weather has gotten nicer. He loves just running around, and anything involving dirt is WICKED cool :) DH has been outside splitting wood, so Christopher has been grabbing a stick and banging on the woodpile with him. If he wants to split, I should get him a baby axe. Train him young, he'll never help with it when he's older :lmao:

good job zoe! Glad you had a good march of dimes day!

It's been a while but I've been busy. We are going to WDW next month and I had so much to do since I was lazy in planning. We finally have decided on transportation and how we are going to fly with our son. It's nice to have that all planned out. Not one food reservation but we'll make it ;)

We had a nice easter. No hunts but we've decided to rule that out. I did put snacks in plastic eggs in a basket though. He had a blast taking them apart and eating the stuff in side. Thought the eggs were fun by themself.

I loved seeing easter pics. We personally took none, but I know some family did.

Ash, sorry you didn't pass the one test. I hope you get it next time!

I didn't have an odor to our pack n play either. At least none that I remember. I think I'd want to return it too.

I have my one little confession here. I haven't done nighttime wakings in a LONG time. Not because DS doesn't do it, but because my DH does. There were a few times when it got really bad and I helped, but for the most part my husband did that for me. I think having a reflux baby that I had to deal wiht while he was gone 13 hours every day made him feel guilty and want to do that much for me. So I really feel for you all who have to get up with kids. It seems as Cris gets more teeth he gets better about sleeping at night with them. Now it seems only his naps are effected by them. sometimes I have to lay with him but I admit I don't mind the snuggle time ;)

TiggerSac, congratulations on Caleb! I am sorry you had so many issues though. My cousin had a baby who was 11+ pounds and in the NICU too for a week. He was fine though in the end and just her being diabetic (type 2) that caused some of hte lung issues.

Cris eats a ton off of my plate too. I actually pour more ceral in my bowl to give him when it's time. I feed him his lunch and then make mine so I can eat in peace :rotfl: He's such a mooch, but I think that's probably good that he's willing to try things.

Oye, I need to go. We have a lot to do still for our trip. I am really hoping that the clothes that I ordered from Old Navy will arrive on time too. We got a good sale there online with a coupon and I have sandals coming in for him and two tops for me. All my summer clothing from years ago is falling apart so I needed more. I forgot about buying summer stuff until I realized we'd need it for the trip. So now I am off to look at the cheapest place to buy cargo type shorts for my son :p

Well I just got back from MGH and seeing Caleb!! My nurse this afternoon was actually the one that I had for Brady, she remembered us...believe me once you meet my hubby, you won't forget him :lmao:

Anyways, they had mentioned that I may be able to get out to see him, but my dr wasn't aware of it and thought she actually had to discharge me and that I would loose the "border" status that I'll take tomorrow. This is the dr covering for the practice for the weekend and she's fairly new.

But anyways...the nurse called her and told her about it, got her ok and off I went w/in 10 minutes to see Caleb. I was so nervous going in. He's doing really well and actually should come back here tomorrow. They are just waiting for a level 2 bed to open up tomorrow, they are 2 that are suppose to.

I got to feed him and hold him and just cuddle for about 1.5 hours, before I had to come back. I was very excited.

So now I'm back in the room and I need to rest up. He'll come back to special care nursery so he won't be able to be in room w/me, but I can go down and be with him and take care of him.

This has definately been a very hard couple of days, but I finally got to hold him at just after he turned 3 days old.:woohoo::yay::banana:

Bethany - I hope you are all feeling better soon, we're just getting over colds here, too. Too funny that you have to weed your fake grass, we have to weed the rocks in our yard too, and before we finished the back and it was a dirt lot, it was covered in weeds. Those things can grow anywhere with no care at all - too bad I can't say the same about all the flowers I keep killing!

Meredith - way to go Zoe! Maybe I'll try that warm water thing with Alex the next time I can get him to sit on the potty... Good job on the MoD, this is the first year in 4 that I haven't participated by walking or volunteering, and I feel bad about it, but at least I did donate some money. The first year I did it, someone told me it was a 5K, and it turned out to be a 10K. And it was on a riverwalk, so it was up and down hills and the terrain wasn't all even for pushing a strolller through. Alex was only 2 months old at the time & I hadn't started working out yet because of the c-section, so it was brutal! The one in Phoenix is sooo much easier - it's downtown on paved roads! :thumbsup2

Jen - lol at Christopher trying to chop wood! :rotfl:

clgwi - I hope you're having fun with your disney planning, that's one of the best parts for me! You can get some really cheap shorts at Walmart & Target, less than $5, but they don't work for my DS because he is so skinny so the ones that fit his waist are too short, and I won't do that to my son. There are some at Target that are around $6-8 that have an adjustable waist, and those seem to work well so far. I also got some on sale at Kohl's with a drawstring waist. I really like the Old Navy shorts since they are adjustable too, and usually a little better quality, but you rarely find them under $10.

Stacy - I'm glad you got to hold Caleb, that must be so hard being away from him!

*************************

Alex saw the new Disney commercial tonight with the flying Dumbos, and he looked at it in awe, and said, "Mommy, I want go Dumbo!" This from the boy who screamed bloody murder for the ENTIRE ride the first time he rode it and made me feel like the worst mother ever for making him go on such a terrifying ride.

Question for you ladies...

We bought another pack n play for upstairs since Allison won't sleep in the bassinet and I am not ready to put her in the crib yet. Anyway, it has a strong odor to the mattress- can't really explain what it smells like (DH thinks it smells like vicks vapor rub). I have tried airing it outside, in the basment with a fan blowing on it and now I have it outside with baking soda sprinkled on it... I am trying to avoid using any cleaning products (I had thought about frebreeze).

So, do you guys have any ideas? Has anyone else had this problem?
I am considering returning it for another one.
We do have another PnP downstairs but it aired out for a good month or two before Allison was born.
I think I would return it. We had two pack n plays, one for here and one for my parent's house... THey didn't have an odor at all.

Thanks for all those ideas. I will be checking out our malls and I need to go to Target to return some clothing I bought for me that I wound up hating at home. I have the same issue with my son too. He's above average height and average weight so he's a little skinny compared to others. Since he'll be growing into things this summer I am buying them in 24 months since he's really close to outgrowing his 18 month stuff. I found some shorts at a used clothing store and I think they were from Walmart. They are a smidge big, but fortunately he has a big behind they stay on better than some other brands do. And given the heat in FL, I won't mind if they aren't skin tight on him to give him room to breathe.
We have a few full weeks to do this all, so I hope to get lucky with stuff for him without breaking the bank. I only am looking for about 3 pairs.

So now you all know what we plan to do this week. I'd like to get it all done so I can pack and be done with it all.

Stacy...I am glad you got to hold Caleb. We too had border status when my Caleb was born since he had jaundice soo bad that we had to stay an extra 2 days. Isn;t it wierd being in the hospital and not having your baby with you?? Though it was nice to get the extra rest that I know a lot of mommies and daddies don't get so we were nice and rested by the time we were home. You soon will be home and will be able to cuddle with him all the time!

Got interrupted while posting ;)

Stacy I am so glad you got to hold Caleb and that he will be coming back to the nursery so you can at least take care of him. It is rough when you aren't able to have your baby with you in the room no matter why. We weren't able to have my son in our room and I was confined to a bed for 26 hours after birth.
I couldn't imagine what you went through though. I hope you all will be home and happy soon :)

Thanks for the advice.

I did end up returning the pack n play with no problems though Target was out of stock of it so I wasn't able to get a new one there. I got a new one from Baby Depot at Burlington coat factory though it is still in the box because we started putting Allison in her crib last Wednesday. I thought it was a little soon though the doctor said it would be okay. She is doing okay in there though not sleeping as long as she did in her downstairs pack n play. She is sleeping between 3 and 5 hours at a time up there... not too bad for a month old but I got spoiled with the few 8 hr nights that she had.

She actually slept downstairs in the pack n play (DH on the couch) on Friday night since MIL was visiting. Allie slept 8.5 hrs!!! Now if she can just do that upstairs, it would be great.
So DH had to take her downstairs because apparently MIL can't stand to hear babies cry (we let her cry about 10 min before we pick her up if she wakes up when we put her down)... MIL has 5 kids= I don't understand how she didn't let them cry... It was kind of a frustrating visit.

Glad to hear that you are all doing well. I am jealous of you, clgwli. I don't think we'll be back to WDW for quite some time!

Hi ladies sorry I haven't been on lately but I got furloughed on Thursday which is basically laid off so I'm home now dealing with unemployment and sending out my resume and stuff. DH and I will be ok but its still a shock sicne I'd been at the company for 12 years. Noah is still in daycare for a month. We talked to them and they let us go for half price so thats nice and it disrupts him as little as possible. If I still don't have anything then he'll be home with me so I'll need some help from all of you ladies that do stay home with your little ones on things to do. I'm going to take full advantage of the extra time I'm getting with my little guy though.

Ok sorry to bring everyone down just still hard for me to believe.

Sorry to hear that! Good luck with the job interviews. I too am looking but just because I am ready for a change. I have two more interviews tommorow...one a 2nd and another a 1st interview. I am hoping the one that I have tommorow with the 2nd is a better job because it is in the same town I work in now and it works out better with my MIL keeping Caleb.

Jenny -- I am so sorry to hear you were laid off!! I hope you are ok.

Hello to all...chatty bunch lately.

Sorry for my quick post - just swamped right now...

will post again soon.

Have a good day all.

-Nicole

PS: our house is officially on the market now.

Hi ladies! :goodvibes I just realized I haven't been on here in a while!! Lots to catch-up on! I need to go-back and do some reading!

Nothing much new up here in NH. The weather has been nice lately, so Brady has been loving playing outside. Those of you on Facebook have probably noticed on my status that we have been searching for a swingset for Brady. I think DH almost died when he saw how much they go for. :eek:My brother is actually buying the set for Brady, which is soooooooo nice of him. He is single, has a great job, and loves Brady-boy...so he is excited and can't wait to get it for him. So cute and generous of him. I am excited because there is just no freakin way DH would spend this kinda of money on a swingset - especially with so many trips to Disney and talks about #2 coming up. We decided on Creative Playthings - now just trying to figure out which set to get. Decisions, decisions!! ;)

*********************************************************

Nicole - Congrats on your house being on the market! Keep us posted!!

Kara - Good luck on your interviews and KUP!

Jenny - So sorry to hear about your job. I hope you are able to find something soon. That is awesome of your daycare to do 1/2 price for Caleb!

hotveggy - Glad to hear that you returned the pnp - I would have done the same thing. Too funny about your MIL not wanting to hear babies cry. She probably would have reported me to social services! :laughing:We used to let Brady CIO for up to 30min when we were doing sleep training. He is a great sleeper now, so something worked! ;)

Pollito - So cute about Alex saying he wanted to ride the Dumbo ride!!! Brady LOVES any Disney commerical - as soon as he hears that music, he runs to the TV. Funny how quickly we've brainwashed him...lol!

TiggerStac - Congrats on the arrival of Caleb!!!! :yay: That is awesome that you got to hold him and that he will be moving so you can take care of him. KUP!!

To anyone I missed....hope all is well!!!! :goodvibes

ok...so it took me a while to figure out what KUP means...I figured it out!

I looked at playsets too and thought that they were expensive...i thought of one next summer maybe bc we can;t get it for Calebs birthday since it is at the end of sept and thats not a fun gift that you can't play with for long....but i think i might start out with a step 2 one...something that can be moved bc we are wanting to build in a couple of years and don;t want to have to leave the expensive swing set behind or have to move it!

Thats really nice of your brother to buy it!

Those of you who have been to disney recently with a small child...are you allowed to bring play things into the pools at disney?? I saw at the dollar tree some cute Disney Mickeymouse clubhouse swimmies and a floating ring and ball...i figured the swimmies would be ok but figured the others would not be allowed. I figured for a dollar who cares...i still might buy them for this summer at the lake. and for the swimmies it said 3+....do you think at 16 mos Caleb could wear those??
