Christina: Sorry you and DH are going through all that. Vent away whenever you need to -- I will keep my fingers crossed for DH that things work out. Could DH ever leave and work elsewhere or start his own company -- sounds like he is very successful at what he does!

***************
This is completely OT - but I thought it was super interesting...you know how they say that there are no secrets at death....

Well, my uncle died on Wed. I was not close to him and did not really know him at all since he lived in Florida. This is my Dad's sisters' husband. His name was Pete. My aunt is Carol. They have been married for about 40 years. They have 3 children - my cousins - who I know - Peter, Michael and Kristin.

Because they live so far away - our relationship with them (both the cousins and my aunt/uncle) basically involves funerals, weddings and baby showers... that is pretty much the only time we see them.

But forever - we knew that we had 3 cousins in Florida - Aunt Carol's kids.

Well - today I pull the obituary off line so I can send flowers (my dad flew down to Florida last night for the funeral but I'm not going).

Well the obit reads that he is "survived by his wife Carol; children: Peter..., Michael...., Kristin.... and Lesley Johnson; grandchildren: Chelsea..., Matthew... Jackson..., Brennan...and Ashlyn Johnson; and best friend Dotty Johnson.

I added the underlines and bolds - those aren't in the obit.

Reading that obit - there is only one conclusion in my opinion -- my uncle Peter obviously had another child (Lesley) with his best friend (Dotty) -- because who would name a man's best friend - who's a woman - in an obit when the wife is still alive and still in the picture!!

I called my dad and read him the obit and he was shocked and had no info and has not heard anything about anything....

Interesting bit a family drama...should make for an interesting funeral!

-Nicole

Nicole, that's really interesting/strange. You wouldn't think that you would find out about something like that in an obit....

Yay for Caleb sleeping through the night! :cool1:

Christina, sorry your DH's work stuff is so awful and drama-filled. Vent away... :hug:

Wow, Nicole, that is crazy to suddenly find out your uncle had another child! :eek:

Poor Owen is feeling more miserable today. He had a hard time sleeping last night and kept waking up coughing. Still covered in snot, of course. We're supposed to go to a baby shower on Sunday and it looks like we'll have to cancel. I hate to do it - these are friends of ours from India and we are usually the only non-Indian people they invite to these parties. I know that our coming to their events is really important to them, and culturally it's a little offensive for us to bail, so we always make an effort to get there. But I don't want to get anyone else sick or have Owen's snotty nose sliming everyone and everything.

I might send DH by himself, since he met K. first at work and that's how they became friends. This baby shower is co-ed, and I think they are mixing American and Indian traditions for it. So bummed to not go; the food is always amazing, and we wanted to bring Owen in one of his Indian outfits. They love seeing him dressed up in Indian clothing! Plus I have an Indian outfit that I think I can squeeze myself into again and I wanted to wear it, even though I'll be completely outshown by the women in their beautiful saris. Sigh. I guess we'll see how he's doing tomorrow...

Bethany - I am sorry that Owen is feel bad. On a plus side, these colds usually move fast so by Sunday even though he may still be snotty he probably won't be contagious. I hope you get to go.

Nicole - That's really interesting ... I wonder if the women are just really good friends too? Odd ... Please let us know when you find out the truth!

Amber - I am sorry your husband left his company for that. I hope it doesn't turn out that way this time but who knows. He has already looked for new jobs. He has one strong oppurtunity to do the same thing in another state but it's a competitor and they have a non-compete. He would not be violating the way his non-compete is written but the company does not want to get into the job offer stage while he is still with his current company. They are very interested in him too though.

We shall see. He only wants to do this particular job if it is in a leadership role. The actual work is not something he wants to do long term. He is a software sales guy by heart and this is not it. We have thought seriously lately about opening our own company doing this but the start up costs are through the roof. We are still investigating it but we would need at least $300K more towards the $500K at the onset to be confident in starting it.

I still haven't spoken to him. Rough estimate was that he was going to talk to the Sales VP this AM around 10-10:30. I texted him a half an hour ago just asking if everythign was ok and if he still had a job! He said he would call in a few and everything was ok. Not really positive note ...

Bethany...you have to post a picture of Owen in an Indian outfit. That would be soo cute!!

Now that we are all on facebook ... do our "lives", pictures and image add up to what you envisioned from getting to know each other one here?

I have to say that very few actually do. I pictured almost everyone COMPLETELY differently.

Nicole, that's crazy!

Bethany, I hope Owen feels better by Sunday. I agree that a picture is needed! :)

DMickey, I hope things work out as you both would like. Vent as much as you need. :grouphug:

My husband dealt with so much drama and crap at his last job (it went on for about five years :sad2: ). He finally had enough of the lies and double talk. So, he left. While I wish at times he still had that job, he is a lot happier not being there.

As for Facebook, no one really looks like I imagined either.

Me either. As odd as it sounds I've pictured most of you looking like one of my local friends. LOL I know that makes no sense but most people just remind me of one of my friends and thats the person whose image comes to mind. Now on facebook I love actually seeing what my DIS friends actually look like.

I agree, people rarely look like how I picture them! Heck, even some of my old friends that I've gotten back in touch with on Facebook don't look like how I've pictured them for all these years! :rotfl:

Many many years ago I met someone who was a friend of a friend, and she said that she'd always pictured me as tall and blonde based on how our mutual friend described me. :laughing: The weird thing is that a few years later someone else said the same thing! :confused3 Don't know what it was about me that used to give off a "tall blonde" vibe, since I'm a very short auburn! Maybe it was just how those friends described me to their friends...but I've always thought that was funny.

I bundled Owen up and took him for a walk to take advantage of the sunshine today and we found some girl scouts selling cookies! There went my diet...but I was good, and I only bought 2 boxes. ;) One of thin mints and one of peanut butter patties. Yummmm...now I've got the peanut butter patties sitting right next to me, and I'm trying very hard to not eat more than two...or maybe three...maybe I should just move the box so I can't reach them. But there's a cat curled up on my lap purrrring so nicely and I'd hate to disturb her. :rolleyes1 Ah, the temptation of girl scout cookies........

Good evening ladies! :goodvibes Just having a relaxing night at home, catching-up on some DVR! Not sure if any of you saw my FB status, but today saw a car with a carseat installed in the FRONT seat. How can parents be so ignorant? Soooooo...I left a note on the windshield, saying how installing a carseat or booster is illegal in the front seat. I got home and did some research, and apparently having a booster in the front seat is legal in NH???? Live free or die, I guess. :sad2: At any rate....still highly unsafe and a ridiculous parent choice IMHO.

Did some shopping and got Brady the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe as one of his gifts from the Easter Bunny. I have already started collecting other things for his actual basket, but I think the Cozy Coupe will be the big hit! I also got a tickle-me Cookie Monster at Walmart for $5!!! Great deal! :thumbsup2

As for FB, it is kinda funny to see everyone as "real" people! ;) It's kinda like when you read a book, and have a mental image of all the characters, and then you go and see a movie, and it's nothing like you pictured! Too funny!!! Now can we all live near each other so we can have playdates and stuff? Would that be too much to ask?!?! :laughing: Oh - and Ash - I don't think I have found you yet....that will be my job tonight!

********************************************************

Christina - Sorry about all the problems with DH's work. :hug: That is very stressful, I'm sure. Glad to hear that you got the computer issue sorted out, and that you are able to transfer your pictures!! That is good news!

Kara - Yay for Caleb sleeping through the night! :yay:

Nicole - That's crazy about your uncle and his unknown child!!! Should make for an interesting funeral. His wife must have known, right?

Bethany - Hope Owen is feeling better. :sick: And those girlscout cookies sound GREAT right about now!

To everyone else...hope you have a great night and weekend!!! :goodvibes

Nicole - Hmm..... Ashlyn Johnson...ashjohnson I thought that was what you were looking at at first. Then I caught the rest of it.

yeah nobody looks how I pictured either. I too am catching up on my DVR shows and trying to get Calebs laundry done and folded. Can;t put away cause he is already in bed. My mom is watching him tommorow so I can organize my house a little better.

I have a cleaning lady who comes twice a month and I think she threw away some of my mail (she thought it was an empty envelope while straigtening up) and actually threw away a paper that I needed to send back to the Disney Movie club so I would not get charged for the movie. And i might have even been late sending it in anyways but still it is not there. So I now have bought the beauty and the beast that I do not want. I don't think Caleb will be too interested in that one. And my 2 yr old niece I am sure already has it. If not she is getting it for either her bday or xmas. Its just easier to keep my mess contained bc she cleans good and is cheap and it helps me out soo much! I know it would not get done if DH and I did ourselves. There is just not enough time in the day by the time we get home we are beat!

So I have decided that I am organizing my mail mess that I have not had time to go thru and putting away Calebs 0-3 mos clothes :sad1: and putting away his stuff. I don't think I will be able to get it all done...but I am going to try to at least put a big dent in it.

Did any of you guys see the South Park episode this week?? It had an evil MIckey and the Jonas Brothers in it...OMG it was soo bad!! BUt when is South PArk ever good i guess.

THe view was also at Walt Disney Studios (California) this week to. It was really neat seeing the behind the scenes of all the disney items used in movies and the Mickey Mouse CLub and some of Walts things. THey said Whoppi was the only one who has been there other than the president of Disney and the curator. They said at some point in the future they would probably have a Disney Museum. THat would be cool to see.

I'm still a year or so behind....only on myspace ...
haven't gotten the energy to start up a facebook account...:surfweb:

Oh dear. I've eaten half a box of girl scout cookies today...granted, it's a box of peanut butter patties and an entire box is just 15 cookies...but still. Maybe half a box of cookies is a bit much for one day. :lmao:

Bethany - I need to find me some GS cookie. We had a girl come around a few weeks ago and I bought 4 boxed but those are LONG GONE!! On the other hand when I couldn't get back to sleep last night because of the combination of DH's snoring and his breathing being so forcefully he was actually twitching the bed I decided I am throwing out all the food in the cabinets and starting fresh. We are going on a diet ... lets see how long that lasts!!

Kelly - I didn't even think of getting Alexander anything "real" for Easter from the Easter Bunny. Perfect excuse to get him something. He is LOVING my friend's riding Firetruck. It's like the Cozy Coupe but it's a firetruck ... I just don't think it would go as well on our carpet like it does on her tile. Do you do an Easter Tree? (Most people look at me like I am crazy when I mention and Easter Tree!!) It would be great if we could all live near each other!! Eventually DH and I will move to either New England, probably NH, Chicago or now possibly St. Louis so maybe that will help!! We decided last night that the next time we move we are done and buying a house! He told me how much he wants another baby too and he also wants to buy that baby a house so we can settle down and really move in somewhere!! Here's hoping something works out.

Kara - That stinks about the cleaning lady throwing that away but that's SWEET you have a cleaning lady. DH tries to get me to get one at least every other week if not every week but I don't. I figure i should do it myself because I am home but I don't do it!!

Raysnakaysmom - Well come on and join us ...

*****
Ok guys ... I seriously could not make up the drama of this past week if I tried. I am ready to wisk DH off to an deserted island so that he can just veg.

First: Dh's best friend found out that his girlfriend is pregnant. Not bad news at all ... just surprising.

Second: That huge long post with DH's job. He now is set up to talk to the owner of the company on Monday morning before he flies out about everything that's happened. Oh, Did I mention THAT? He is going to St. Louis to wine and dine his biggest client Monday - Wednesday ... more ammo in the pot that he'd be good opening that office out there. Bad side? I am set to "O" mid next week!!

THIRD: And this pushed him over the edge last night. I have never seen him speach less and he was. His family is "that" side of the family. Just different from us. His brother is 23 and still lived at home doing nothing until about a month ago. His mom had an accident at work and had a lawsuit that just settled in the fall. The accident was 4 years ago and we support a large amount of her monthly bills for those 4 years. It has been impossible getting her to take them back over the last few months. She also has no plans on the future and has gone through 45-50% of the settlement money already. She has bought slacky BIL a new tv, a bed, fixed his car a week before he totaled it and lost his license. She never offered to pay us back anything of the $8-10K that we have given her over the 4 years. We don't want the money back ... we just would have liked a gesture. YKWIM?

So ... this BIL (I have an older one that is a fruit loop in CAL) has been on the fence about his sexuality for the last few years. As far as I knew before Christmas he was gay. That's fine ... obviously. So Derek gets a call last night and before he answered the phone I just knew what it was. I just KNEW it. I bet you know it now ... don't you??? A girl he has 'apparently' starting see again is 7 weeks pregnant. He is flipping out. Um ... of course. He lives in a room in a house and pays $620/month for it. He works at a gas station and makes about $800/month now. He has no car, no license, no education, no drive .... My MIL will FLIP when she finds out. DH is besides himself ...

Can anything else happen??? ***?

Happy Saturday ... We were going to try and go to the Red Sox ST game here but I don't know if we will make it.

Happy Saturday ... We were going to try and go to the Red Sox ST game here but I don't know if we will make it.

I am sooooooooooooooooooooo jealous if you go!!!! Take pics!!! :thumbsup2

We don't do a Easter tree, but I do know what you are talking about! :)

Christina...you should listen to your husband. I am sure prices are different in FL...but this lady had been cleaning my moms house for about the last 6 yrs and since my brother and I are out of the house now she really did not need her every week...so my mom and i share her every other week. It is $30 for 2 hrs. She cleans my whole entire 2000 sq foot home and even has time to organize my mess sometimes (and sometimes I do not want her to) she even deep cleans my living room carpet everytime. IT has been so worth it. I can spent much more time with Caleb and it is something DH and I do not have to worry about getting the house cleaned. My mom says that she should have done it when my brother and I were kids.

On another note, I just found out yesterday that a couple we are friends with but do not see too often (even though we live in the same town) are pregnant again. They just had a little girl born TWO WEEKS before Caleb was born!:scared1: They said it was not planned and were pretty shocked. I can't even imagine having two kids right now especially so close in age and especially since I just had one! I mean eventually I want another child just not now! THey probably will be about 12-13 mos apart. And he built a really small house...i doubt it is 500 sq feet before they were married probably bc he was not planning on getting married this soon. It has 2 bedrooms and the babys room will not fit another crib. My DH did not believe that was there house....he thought it was a shed. THey joke that they live like they are camping. Just the necessities. And are not planning on building another house soon (he is a builder with his own business) but I bet once they try to live there with 2 kids they may be changing their minds.:rotfl: They have a big property...it would make a really cool guest house or playhouse for the kids when they are older. Just thought that was interesting. I think i might go drop off the diapers that caleb has outgrown to them sometime b4 the baby is born. I was going to keep them until we would have another baby but really they just take up room. if someone else can use them...then that good too!

Well I better get off the computer. my mom has caleb and i am supposed to be organizing my house and have only gotten lunch and the dishwasher unloaded. plus i have to run to walmart bc i realized i have no more trashbags.
have a great weekend!

Hey ladies! I had a "date" with my girlfriend last night- so fun! We're going to the Fox Theater on March 22nd to see "Cirque Dreams" (which is apparently sort of like Cirque du Soleil) and I'm really excited! Plus, last night at Target I bought a super cute green trench coat- it's very springy and adorable, and I need some new clothes, I am feeling very stale and frumpy right now.

DMickey- sorry about your DH's drama at work. As for St. Louis- I really do love it here! There are very nice neighborhoods (suburbs) around St. Louis- Clayton/Kirkwood/Ladue- all great areas, although pricey for around here. Edwardsville is on the IL side of the river, not too far from St. Louis, and that's where I went to HS and college. It's a great area, too (i'd loooove to move back into town someday, but while you can find homes at a decent albeit slightly higher price, the taxes in Madison county are really high- but it's a great school district). We love going to do stuff in St. Louis though- the Art museum, Forest Park, a fantastic zoo, the Science Center, the City Museum- lots to do! :goodvibes

Nicole- that is too weird about your Uncle! It's kind of weird, though, because I don't know my biological father (well, I know who he is, but we have never had a relationship), but I do know that he has another daughter with his wife, and I always wonder if she knows about me. :confused: I hope my existence isn't announced in an Obit someday! :lmao:

Bethany- how cute that Owen has a little Indian outfit! Sounds adorable. My mom called a few months ago: she was in Kentucky shopping whoknowswhere and she calls me from this store: "Do you want me to get Vaylie a kimono?" :confused3 Me: "Um, for what? I can't imagine what she would possibly need a kimono for. " Mom: "But they're really cute." Me: "I'm sure they are, but mom, we don't even know anyone who is Japanese, much less have a reason to where a kimono anywhere." (and my mom is the type of person that will hold a big ol' grudge if you don't make Vaylie wear something she bought for her). So in your case, I think it's cute that Owen has a little Indian outfit- he has a reason to wear one.

Ash- I hope the tests went ok! I was thinking of you this morning! :thumbsup2

Kelly- Vaylie and Dnephew have a Cozy Coupe at my IL's house, and I think the Il's are going to buy another one because the kids fight over it. MIL just called today- she is buying 3 swingsets for Easter: one for our house, one for Dnephew, and one for Grandma and Papa's house. :rotfl: Easter is the new Christmas, I guess. I haven't though much about what to get Vaylie.

k_reile- I need a cleaning lady too. But I'd just end up cleaning before she got here. And that's great that Caleb slept through the night!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I am eating a Blizzard from Dairy Queen, although now I'm craving Thin Mints (thankyouvverymuch, Bethany), and I am trying to figure out something fun to do today, although really- I need to menu-plan and go grocery shopping. Stupid adulthood responsibilities.
Oh, and I thought this was cool!!!
They have Disney Resort-inspired bedding at JCPenny! Neat, huh?
Bedding
Becky- Do you know anything about St. Charles, MO? I have heard that Chesterfield is nice but super pricey as well.
