Kelly -- your trip looks great!! We are eating at alot of the same restaurants!

I am sure your parents will take Brady a bunch so you guys can have some solo time. What an awesome trip. Is Brady going to MNSSHP with you guys? Are you wearing costumes.

It will be here before you know it -- 10 more days for you - you must be so psyched. And such a long trip -- 2 weeks!! I am jealous of that!!

Brady will really enjoy things this time around as he will probably be able to interact and laugh and smile at the characters and stuff now.

Yeah for Disney!!

And Mrs. Disney Ron - you leave soon too!! Post your itineary. Funny how all us New England gals are heading down around the same time. And Mrs. Disney Ron - who lives in RI is flying out of Boston -- and me, who lives outside of Boston is flying out of RI!!

When will Sept 13th get here!

Kelly - are you renting a car? If so- check Alamo -- I just got my reservation down again to $101 (started at 213 then 149 then 125 now 101) for a midsize for 8 days!

Of course when I confront him about things like that, his mentality is "well, he survived, didn't he?". :headache:

Ughh, my DH says the same thing! I came home from work one day last week and DH was asleep on the couch in the living room while DS was playing on the floor. His defense was, "well, he's fine isn't he?" So he's fine, but how would you have even known if he wasn't when you were sleeping? DS is big and active now, and could have easily climbed on something and fallen off, or worse yet climbed onto the kitchen counter (which he has done before) and gotten into the knives! :scared1:

Nicole - Yes, Brady is coming with us to MNSSHP....at least that is the plan!! I don't think we are wearing costumes, but we plan on buying Brady something once we are down there. I have a Winnie the Pooh costume for him, but it's big and bulky and will be way too hot for down there. I looked at some stores up here (as they all have Halloween stuff out already!), but everything is long-sleeved and heavy, more for trick-or-treating up here in the cold, not down there in the heat!! Yes, Brady knows who Mickey Mouse is and recognizes all the Playhouse Disney songs (Micky Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, Jo Jo's Circus, Handy Manny, etc...). I am wearing a Mickey t-shirt today, and everytime he sees it he starts pointing and smiling!!! Too cute! I think he will also LOVE the parades with all the characters and music!!! My parents rented the car - so I will tell them about that deal on Alamo. Not sure who they went through.....I think they booked it through Southwest Airlines?

Pollito - Yup....how can DH's be so lax? I was at dinner one night with some girlfriends, and I turned my ringer to vibrate on my phone, but put it in my purse (I usually leave it on the table or in my pocket). Well, about 20min into dinner, I realized what I had done. So, I got my phone out and saw 7 MISSED CALLS from home.  I call DH and he's like....Brady fell....but he's fine. My response was, "your version of fine (which means he hasn't lost any limbs and his head is still attached), or my version of fine (no blood, just a little bruise, etc..)". He's like...well....he hit a toy when he fell and it hit up in his gums and there was a lot of blood  but he's ok. Ok....now I have to casually sit through and finish dinner....knowing once I get home, Brady will be asleep and I wouldn't even see him. He ended up being fine....but DH's casual attitude about EVERYTHING sometimes scares me a bit. I gave him a whole speech one night about how if anything ever happened when I wasn't home, that it's OK to call 911....it's their job....and how I would rather him err on the over-cautious side then then "oh, everything's fine" side!! ;)

That's an Amazing price!!!

FYI - I don't know if WDW will have actually lighter clothes but something I learned moving down here is that we have almost all the same clothes as they do up north. Our kids stores and BRU are FILLED with long sleeves, jackets, pants and sweaters ... :confused3 Yeah, maybe we can wear 1/2 of that for 3 days in February!!

My DH is opposite of yours in that sense. He is very up tight about safety and things like that. DS coughs and DH is convinced that he's choking. He hoovers over him when he is on the couch ... me, I walk in the other room. He freaks out if he doesn't see him, I let him play in his room. I can hear him and usually figure out what he is doing by the sound! I figure he's a boy, he knows how to act on the couch and if he doesn't get down like he knows how, he might get hurt. Does that sound like a bad mom? I go in the 'live and learn' crowd, i keep him safe but let him figure things out on his own.

So far, my DH is fairly good about taking care of Christopher. He never had any younger sisters or brothers, no cousins that were much younger, etc. So little kids were a totally new world for him. He does fairly well keeping an eye on what Christopher has found to get into. He does get nervous about what he should and shouldn't eat, where I don't particularly worry, unless it's drain cleaner or something ;) DH called me in a panic because my Gram gave Christopher some PB crackers before he could stop her. My answer "You're an EMT - does he look OK?" I'm thinking hives look like hives, whether they're on your kid or another.... :)

My boys (the adult and the kid) crack me up sometimes.....

Jen

I am so torn and heartbroken, I need some clearheaded advice.

My dog bite me tonight. Since bringing Alexander home 15 months ago, Lobo has gone downhill in behavior. He is very jealous and very aggressive. He has always been a bit snappy under certain circumstances but we had been working on him and he was doing a lot better before we brought the baby home. it has just progressively gotten worse and now the dog is living in the kitchen, except when Alex is in bed. He is not getting the attention that he deserves. It has gotten to the point that I can't open the microwave without him barking. He bite me tonight because the phone rang and I went to leave the kitchen to get it. That's all ... no provoking, no anything. If I call Alex, say NO or the phone rings the dog goes nuts.

I don't know what to do. We have done training and it's great because he follows commands and walks well on and off a leash. It's a great dog except when the baby is around. Obviously that is unacceptable. What if he bite or snapped at Alex? We keep them seperated 99% of the time and the 1% is if i am holding one of them or sitting between them. Alex isn't rough at all ... he loves the cats he's a kid though.

The bite tonight is the last straw. I guess technically it was a snap. He didn't really break the skin except for a scratch like thing but i have a quarter size bruise/hard spot under the skin immediately after he did it. There are a few other marks but that's the big one. That's the worst one he has done, but he has gotten DH and i other times.

I had a couple from craiglist, where I listed him for adoption, that was very interested in him. We sent many emails and they came by to meet him. They have another Corgi that they wanted a companion for but their Corgi is younger and they decided that she was too high keyed for Lobo and wouldn't give Lobo the space and quiet he needs sometimes. A few other people have shown interest in him but no-one i thought worthy!!

I don't know what to do ... I have found two no-kill shelters in my county. It will break my heart to have to take him there. I just don't know ...

Lobo is 4 years old. He was our wedding gift to each other. He was bought from a breeder ... he was a well thought out addition to our family. We had been working with the breeder for over a year and half in preperation for him.

I love dogs ... i want another dog eventually but right now Lobo is not the right dog for this family and it is breaking my heart. I don't know what else to do. i can't afford thousands for a trainer to come in my house or to send him to hardcore boot camp and everything else we have done has not helped at all. if anything it's made it worse because he seems even more resentful of the baby.

Thanks for listening ... gotta go lay down because now my leg is killing me.

Jennifer- welcome!!! :wizard: you are doing the podcast cruise? I am considering it with my mom and my cousin. I just discovered the podcast this year and love it. i've never done a cruise before at all, disney or other. DS is too young to really have a good time (he would be a year and a half) and i think it would be a good girls trip for me, mom and my cousin (she's like a second mom to me).

Yep, I actually won the trip from Pete and Dreams Unlimited, so if you have been listening lately, you may have heard me winning. I am so excited! This is also our first cruise.

For Christmas this year, my parents are giving us and my brother and his family another Disney cruise, so we are going without the kids in May and with the kids in June. By then the kids will be, 6, 3, and 9 months.

Had my last ultrasound today. All parts are working and in place. The only scary part is they are measuring him at 7 pounds already with 4 weeks to go. So hopefully they will induce me a little early.

DMickey- I was just having this same conversation at work today. I'm struggling with our dog since we had Vaylie. Luckily she hasn't bitten anyone, but I feel like she may. She has gotten a little aggressive and she's DEFINITELY jealous and I *know* I don't give her enough attention- not what she deserves. And then I worry- what about when we have another baby? What then? I'm not going to magically have more time and attention, and it's just not fair to Jules (our dog).

But, you also can't have a dog that is aggressive around small kids.

We keep them pretty much separate (Jules gets gated into the kitchen a lot), and I don't think that helps, but I'm at a loss of what else to do. I wish I could find someone to take her that has older kids who can run with her and keep her "in her place."

I never imagined that I would even think of getting rid of her though...

It's so hard.

Becky - that's exactly where i am. We were hoping that my MIL would take her but she isn't moving soon enough, we can't go on like this much longer. I was really upset when the couple nearby decided not to take him. They had an 1.5 acre of land, another dog, older (out of the house children) and totally devoted to their current corgi. The husband even brought a little dog treat to get lobo to warm up to them. It would have been perfect ... It's not fair for Lobo to be in the kitchen all the time. And your right, what about with the next baby? Corgi's are herding dogs so now that Alex is mobile it's getting worse ... he can't run by the kitchen without lobo going nuts, he wants to herd him. If I had two little kids running around here we would be losing toes and knees left and right ... how bad is that?

I know what I think I have to do but where do I find the steel heart to do it? How do I know that he will have a better home? One woman was interested in him, a single mom that would keep him in a crate all day and then her boys would play with him after before bed ... so in my mind i figure he'll be out of the crate for a few hours a day???? I figure being baby gated in my kitchen the majority of the day except if we leave the house or the baby is asleep is a better life ... plus at least one good walk a day. (Obviously I take him out other times, just not full out walks!) However now I am not even safe in the kitchen with him ... I didn't do anything but walk towards the gate to get the ringing phone when he bit me.

argh ... :confused3

Ann - do you live in/near the Boston area? We live in southern NH and are flying out of Manchester for our trip. That is exciting that you will get to try-out your City Mini!!! Brady also loves his bottles (he just turned 1). I think he likes them more because it's party of his "routine" before he goes for his naps and bed. My goal is to try and break him from them after we get back from Disney!

We live in Providence. My goal was only a bottle for bed before Disney. He is doing a little better but I still need a bottle as backup.

And Mrs. Disney Ron - you leave soon too!! Post your itineary. Funny how all us New England gals are heading down around the same time. And Mrs. Disney Ron - who lives in RI is flying out of Boston -- and me, who lives outside of Boston is flying out of RI!!

-Nicole

We used to fly out of Providence on SW alot but lately they have been playing alot of games with their fares. The past three trips we have used Jet Blue ...can't beat the tvs and dunkin donut coffee!;)

This trip we are staying at SSR 9/16-9/23. We are going with my two step children, DSS girlfriend, and stepGS. They are staying at ASMo. DH & I have decided not to use the dining plan and have APs. These are our ADRs:

16th HDDR
17th R&C
18th Spoodles
19th Kona
20th OHana breakfast
21st Coral Reef
22nd Yak & Yeti

Rest of our itineary is day by day. Definitely a pool day. We will hit a park daily but Epcot is our favorite. I also have to get to Tangerine Cafe at least once or twice. I can't wait for a smoothie in France! Yummy...DH can push the stroller then!

I can't wait to start packing. I got DS some great tanks and shorts at Gymboree ...cheap a while back.

We are almost at the WORLD my fellow NE girls.

:cloud9: Ann

I can't believe you guys aren't going to Boma! That's one of my faves (along with Ohana). Mmmmm.

Dmickey- I would think twice about giving Lobo to someone else with kids, though, if he has been biting/snapping even at you and dh. Just in case. I know it's hard. Maybe you can contact the breeder for help with a new placement or advice? Maybe they'd even take him back to place with someone else? At any rate- in the meantime there are a couple of things you can do. Does he know "stay"? If so, when you feed him, make him sit, put the food in his bowl, but make him stay until you give a release command (show him YOU are in charge, not the other way around). Make him sit at the door before you walk inside. Make him sit before you take him outside. Everything you command him to do reinforces that YOU are the leader of the pack.

Have you tried looking at Cesar Milan's website? He'd be perfect for us! I haven't checked his site though so I don't know if he has advice on there or not. I do know that he's a genius with dogs- how anyone can have 20 dogs, ranging from pit bulls to rottweilers to cocker spaniels, and they all get along and play in a pack, is beyond me.

Luckily, Jules hasn't snapped at us or bitten anyone. She has growled at Vaylie while Vaylie was near Jules' food. So, if Vaylie is running around, I take Jules' food away until Vaylie goes to bed. If Jules gets too exciteable, she gets corralled in the kitchen.

I'm hoping that this is just a phase for her and that when Vaylie gets bigger it won't be a problem. Right now, she thinks she's ahead of Vaylie in the pack order because Vaylie can't tell her what to do.

That Cesar Milan guy is incredible!!! I have watched many of his shows, and he really is a dog-whisperer!!!

We did Boma this past December, and opted to try Jiko this time around. We did like Boma - of couse we had run-out of sit-down dining credits by the time we ate there, and we were a party of 8.....the bill was like $500! Of course we probably used our dining credits at like Kona Cafe or something. This time since we know we have more sit-down meals than credits, we will save our dining credits for the more expensive buffets and dinners! ;)

Off to the outlets today to do some shopping!!! :thumbsup2

That is what is so difficult about this. Lobo knows his commands and does them ... he walks out the door last, he walks behind the stroller when we go for walks, he sits/stays, he does all that. He knows who is the leader. I almost wonder if he is neurotic or something ... it's wierd. The phone rings, the microwave door, the oven heating up, the door bell, a loud voice ... they all set him off.

The couple we had met with had older, grown out of the house children which would have been perfect. The other ones with that woman were 7 and 14 but I had ruled her out anyway.

DMickey -- have you asked the breeder if she knows of anyone looking for an older Corgi? My mom breeds Goldens, and she ALWAYS tells her "puppy people" that if they cannot keep the dog, to please please please call her first.

Just a thought...

More later when I have more time, but wanted to jump in and offer that suggestion!

DMickey - I was thinking the same thing about calling the breeder. A friend of ours is a breeder, and she always says she wants the people to bring the dog back rather than trying to find a home for it themselves. I'm so sorry to hear you're having problems. I was nervous about our Newfie and Christopher - not about being jealous or anything, but just about sheer size. Now that Christopher is older, I"m not so worried, although he still gets sat on every once in a while :)

Kelly - Oohhh...outlet shopping :) I usually go up to Tilton, since it's not too far away, but I really need a Conway trip. Chuck Roast is going out of business, so I'm hoping to pick up a snowsuit for Christopher on clearance.

Dumb, dumb car.

We have already had it worked on twice this summer, and tonight- on my early day (I got to leave at 4 today instead of 5), I started to pull out of the parking lot and it was broken. Something about a calibur and the brakes and a "shoe fell off." I don't know. There goes another $200. :headache:

Oh well. At least it was nothing too major. Just annoying. And it wasted my early day. *sigh*

Dumb, dumb car.

:rotfl2: :lmao:

I feel you on that! Our 10 year old Jetta has over 180,000 miles on it and hubby and I have decided that the next major repair it needs will be the last major repair. It would make more sense to just purchase another used car maybe and have another car payment than to fix the Jetta. Had a friend tell me, his Jetta went for 200,000 miles! We'll see.

We have a MUCH newer car, 2006 Cobalt and it's a good thing since Mo is here now. Whoever has the baby gets the good car.

I'm sorry your day was ruined and I hope things get better for you.

Morning ladies -- TGIF!!! This has been a *long* week for me!

DMickey: Hugs. I am so sorry about Lobo - that totally stinks for you and her. It is a sad day when your own dog bites you. I think you are doing the right thing, even though it is so hard, to find her a new home or give her to a shelter until they can find her a new home. You just can't have an aggressive, barking dog that has to be in the kitchen all the time around you and the baby. I know your head knows this - trust me that your heart will heal from this awful ordeal - in the long run - it is also what is best for the dog. We are here for you!

Pollito: So funny about our causual DH's -- "he's fine isn't he?" That would drive me crazy -- they are so relaxed they don't realize that next time he might not be fine -- ugh!!

Kelly: I am sure you will be able to find something light weight for Brady for MNSSHP. Do you remember Halloween costumes when we were kids in a New England fall...I remember my mom used to make my brothers and I wear our puffy winter coats under our Halloween costumes -- ohhh how I hated that -- we looked like michelin men all bulky under our costumes. So funny! Outlet shopping sounds fun. I keep trying to talk DH into a trip to the Wrentham outlets before Disney but he is holding firm on not going - he wants to wait till Oct to go!

Jen: Hi - that must be kind of nice having DH as an EMT -- are you an EMT too? I know you work for the fire dept - so you must have EMT training as well...in any event - that is nice - you guys are probably less panicked about medical stuff with Christopher because you know how to deal with it and know when it looks bad but really isn't!!

DVSsince02: 4 more weeks! Yeah! Good luck. And don't be too nervous about them saying baby is currently 7 lbs -- those ultrasounds are usually way off. Fingers crossed for you though that you go a little early!

Becky: That sucks about the car!! I hear you about Boma - Boma is usually a staple of ours - we go every year -- but this year we decided to try some new places (Kona, Tusker buffet, Trails End, Beaches and Cream and Spoodles) so we had to give up Boma!! But I do like it there and I espeically like the banana flavored frozen drink you can get at the bar at the pool. We actually got to stay at AKL once a few years ago with a great code and I loved it -- I am dying to go back someday!

Ann: Jet Blue is the best - I wish we could have gotten a good deal on Jet Blue for this trip but we couldn't. I love the TV's - makes the whole trip fly by. I just flew Jet Blue to Vegas in July and the 5.5 hour flight actually went by fast due to the tvs! We are flying out of Southwest becuase that was the cheapest tickets I could find. We got a good deal - $360 round trip, nonstop, total (for 2 adults). Couldn't pass that up! Your ADR's look great by the way! And I am with you - I actually look forward to packing -- I already have my packing list made up and I think I am going to pack on Sunday Sept 7th since that is my last weekend day before we leave.

Mrsexplorer: Hi -- nice to see you again!! How was it going back to work? Are you doing ok?

Denise: Hi -- that is a good rule - baby=good car!

************************

Hope everyone has a great weekend. We are going to Hampton Beach with Izzy for the day tomorrow and I can not wait!! I have not been to the beach all year yet. Which is ridiculous considering that my dad owns a house in Dennisport at the Cape and my mom owns a house in West Yarmouth at the Cape so I could go to the Cape any time I want but yet - we have not made it down there yet and haven't made it to any beach yet. I am so excited about tomorrow. But jeez - I made a list of stuff we have to bring and now with Izzy this year - there is *so* much crap that we have to take that we never had to take before -- we are going to need a pack mule to carry it. I really wnat to take our Digital Camera too since she has never been to the beach before but I am worried about it getting stolen while we are in the water - any thoughts??

-Nicole

DMickey - I agree with everyone about talking to your breeder...maybe he/she will help out with either taking Lobo back. I also agree that although it may be very hard, better to be on the safe side, YKWIM? (((hugs)))

Jen - We went to Tilton yesterday! I got some cute fall outfits for Brady at the Carter's and Gymboree outlets, and some tank-tops for our Disney trip. Of course my mother had to buy him like a whole new wardrobe for Disney. I'm like, mom, he has TONS of summer clothes to wear.....does she listen? No.... So now he has a "Disney wardrobe" - mostly consisting of cute onsies and one-piece tank and short outfits.

Becky - Sorry to hear about the car. That sucks! Hopefully it will be the last repair for a while! ;)

Nicole - :rotfl: about the Halloween costumes!! That is EXACTLY what my mom used to make us do!! I always used to get so upset that my costume was "ruined". I remember every year I would want to be a ballerina....but couldn't because there was simply no way I could walk around in a leotard and tights!! I am actually going to Wrenthem tomorrow!! Brady is the ring-bearer in my best friends wedding, so we are going to the Strasburg Children store to get his outfit. Have fun at Hampton Beach tomorrow!! The weather is supposed to be AWESOME! I would just hide your camera under a towel or something....I am sure it will be fine.

******************************************************

Off to the mall today to do some returns and Disney shopping. All the summer stuff is on sale, so I am hoping to get a few more pairs of shorts and tank-tops to wear while down there. I am meeting a couple of girlfriends with their kids for lunch, so that should be fun! I posted some cute pics of our last Disney trip on Brady's blog....http://nhbradyboy.blogspot.com/ He just looks so tiny from that trip!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!! :goodvibes

He's so cute! I have the same outfit for Owen in red, and I just love it. Dh calls it his candycane outfit, though. Maybe if we had it in a different color he'd like it more, but I think it's fun.

Thanks for the encouragement. :goodvibes DH and I have an ongoing joke from an early "Baby Blues" comic strip where the dad comes home and finds the mom still in her robe holding the new baby, and she says "I washed 3 dishes today." The dad then says something like "way to go!" and she replies "thanks for celebrating my accomplishments" or something along those lines. So we celebrate "3 dish days" when I got something - anything - done around the house.

Owen still won't sleep for more than 20 min without being held, so getting anything done is nearly impossible. We're slowly working on sleep training to get him used to his cradle for naps with the eventual goal of getting him to sleep there at night instead of in my arms in our bed. But that takes work, and so I pretty much spend my days attached to Owen and doing nothing but taking care of him. I'm hoping having this student over for even 5 hours a week will help me get a grip on life again!

Ash, the dress is adorable! I can't sew to save my life, despite all my attempts. If you can sew little button up shirts for boys, I'd order one, too! We adore putting Owen in button up shirts, but it's so hard to find them in fun and funky prints. We only have two long-sleeved ones that fit him now, and only a couple of the cute short sleeved camp shirt style ones for the next size up. I bet you could build a great home business with your sewing skills!

Just lurking on this site, my daughter is due any day now, sent her the link for the moms to be and the new moms site, hopefully, she will join in. I just wanted to tell you, I know you posted this months ago, but Disneyshopping.com is having a great sale of infant and toddler clothes, button down shirts, that are adorable. Ordered a bunch of rompers, 2.99 each, for my granddaughter to be last night. Check it out, the regular disney store and the Disney outlet. They also have the interactive Pooh for 24.99 down from 49.99, got one of those also.:cool1:
