It's also been a good ebay day today - I won an auction for a lot of nursing tops, and I also won an auction that had exactly the items I wanted for Owen - a hoodie sweatshirt, a sweater, and some sleepers. After having the boy here for a few weeks I'd discovered that I needed those things and I didn't want to spend $$$ on new stuff that he'll outgrow in a few more weeks. Good bargains on both auctions, and it was very satisfying! :thumbsup2

I LOVE ebay lately. I got an adorable disney easter outfit for Alex, and just found a gymboree outfit that he wore last summer, that DH really loves, but in a bigger size, so it should fit this summer. I was so excited!

Unfortunately no going outside for us today. It's below zero again with the wind chill, and that is just miserable weather. I can't wait for spring. I think Alex will be easier to handle if he can run off some of that energy outside! :yay:

I can't wait for spring either. The flu is going around so bad around here that I'm scared to go anywhere. So I just sit inside all of the time, and that can't be good for the mental health, you know? And it's too windy and cold to go outside. Spring can't get here fast enough for me.

What kind of thermometer do you all have? We've been using the one they gave us at the hospital as a rectal thermometer, but it takes forever to get a reading and we'd like to get something else. Plus we'll only be able to get the kiddo to put up with getting his temp taken that way for so long...:scared1:

I'm leaning towards one that takes a reading in the ear - anyone have any experiences with these good/bad? Any other kinds of thermometers out there that you have and like or don't like?

I use the digital thermometer that came with a Parents kit from Target. It's not really the greatest, doesn't let you know when the reading is complete with a beep or anything, but it gets the job done. I just can't reason spending the money on an ear thermometer.

I would also be interested in what everyone else uses.

I am ready for spring as well. I am dying to get my jogging stroller out so I can do my walks again. I did a quick one with Dom and he loved going that fast!

As for thermometers, I cannot stand ear thermometers. I have not found one that is accurate for me let alone a child. I asked around and wound up with this one http://www.amazon.com/Vicks-Pro-Sty...=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1203097670&sr=1-17
It does mouth, under arm and rectal so you can use it any way you want. When he was newborn and I was finding out if he was feverish or not, it was so handy to have that under arm option.
I've used it for me as well. Fast and accurate IMO.

Hey! I've been looking for this thread, but couldn't find it.. so glad to have FINALLY done so! :) Subscribing now..... :rotfl:

Alex loves going fast too, just cracks up laughing.

I clicked on the thermometer link, and you can get a good combo deal on it right now if you also buy the latest Die Hard movie! :rotfl2: What do those 2 things have in common?!? :confused3

Thanks, Elaine! That does look like a good option. I like the 6 second read - ours currently takes up to a minute! :headache: No fun for anyone.

I saw that, too! I can't figure out why on earth Die Hard and a thermometer would go together, but it's darn funny!! :lmao:

Owen also loves to go fast - in the car, in his swing, in the stroller - even getting patted on the back he likes to be patted fast, not slow! He can't stand riding in the car when we're going slowly on city streets, but loves it once we're on the highways. In the stroller he'll get fussy when we're stopped or going slowly, but as soon as I start picking up the speed he just settles back and starts cooing and relaxes. I've told him this need for speed better not carry over into his teenage years...no fast driving or riding in fast cars! ;)

Okay, I have to step away from Ebay...maybe it's just that I'm bored or going stir-crazy, but I've been buying WAY too much stuff on ebay lately. There's just so many super cute outfits for Owen out there, and I've gotten a little carried away.:rolleyes1

Re: Thermometers - we used a rectal one when they were tiny, then went to a digital one we could use under the tongue or under the arm. Now that they are older, and since it doesn't really matter what the fever is unless it is really high, we use an ear thermometer - and it is the best money we ever spent. The kids can take their own temps now, and they like to have some control over it. Not, it's probably not as accurate as most of you would like, but it tells me what I need to know - so maybe a consideration for the future.

Denae

Eta - and like Marie on Everybody Loves Raymond, I can tell if the kids have a fever, now, just by kissing their foreheads!

Ok, ladies, this *new* mommy learned a lesson the hard way tonight. Every night when I am getting DS ready for bed, I fill his little bath tub with water while I run around getting everything else ready, towels, clean pjs, etc. While I do that DS also runs around, usually emptying book shelves and toy baskets.

Tonight I heard a splashing sound coming from the bathroom after I had finished filling his little tub (which is inside the big tub), so I figured DS was fishing out one of the toys or dropping in another one. I ran in to check just to make sure and this is what I found:

He was so proud of himself! And I still can't figure out how he got in there, especially without getting his hair wet, even though the rest of him was soaked!

I realize that something much worse could have happened, and I am very grateful that it didn't. So from now on, I will close the bathroom door after I fill his bathtub.

Omigod he is SOOOO CUTE!!! :goodvibes That is a great story....you'll have to write it in his babybook!

We just got back from Brennan's 1st bday trip to WDW. :)
It was so much fun!!! We stayed at Ft Wilderness in one of the "cabins" so that we could have a separate space for him. It worked out really well. We had his bday dinner at CP and he loved the characters. He also liked HM and slept through Pirates both times we rode it with him. DH and I hit the P&PP and it was awesome. We'll definitely be hitting it in May again. DH even dressed up (it was last minute and he bought a costume at Pirates but I didn't have one...will next time). The longest wait we had was 5 minutes on Peter Pan. (I read a report from one person that was there teh same day [2/9] and they must have been in an alternate univers party since they said they had 1/2 hour waits for stuff. No wait at all!...come to think of it there was no 1/2 hour wait even during the day as it wasn't crowded at all)

Anyway, here are some pics :)

So how did brennan do sitting in the barbers chair?? How did that work?? I know from w/other DS that they can't sit on your lap, like at my hairdresser. Were you able to stand next to him and hold him on the booster they use?? Brady is going to be almost 15 months when we go and it will be just when he's due for his haircut.... other DS was 18 months when he had it done there, for the first time.

Thanks

Hi Ladies! New to this group! Just had my bundle of joy Jan 28. Was a member of the Official Moms to be thread, but now can't get on.... Anyone tried to check the tread lately?

I wanted to let the ladies know we were all good and wrap up the tread.

I'll try again later, but for now am happy to have found you ladies...

Will read up and start posting soon. I have to learn how to download some pics...

Have a good weekend everyone.

I guess it's time for me to move on over to this thread, too! :) Grayson Joseph was born 1/30/08. He's a great baby- always either happy as can be, or sleeping!!!

Here's a picture of him at one week old:

I'm so jealous of all of you that have been able to take your babies to WDW already! I'm going to be a SAHM (but still on maternity leave) AND we are moving this year, so it's going to be a long time before we can splurge on WDW again. :guilty: I got my fix in September, but that won't keep me content for very long. :lmao:

Pollito- I just love those bath pictures. How funny!!!! :rotfl:

Congrats!!!! :cool1:

Here's the new one. The other one disappeared when they removed all of the other big threads. They are all supposed to be back for archiving purposes, but I haven't seen the Mom's to Be one.

He cried for about 5 seconds just as I was putting him on the seat but stopped as soon as the CM put the 1st sticker on him. After that I didn't have to hold him or anything. DH and I were right next to him the whole time, though. Two or three times we had to fish out a piece of sticker from his mouth (one of them was even on my video) but it all worked out. Here are a few pics of the haircut itself to give you a better idea of what went on. :)

BTW- if you do the haircut there, ask for Patrick. He was awesome with B.

Thank you Syrreal....

Patrick must be the only one we haven't had w/other DS. We have had Michael several times and Rosario (?) and another 2 other women.

We're just going to have to stand close by...well DH will, I'll be snapping away. Hopefully, they'll do like they did with other DS. It wasn't his first haircut, but they still did the whole bit, cuz it was his first disney haircut (we had Michael that time). I held off for a while cutting bradys hair, but had to have it done before his 6 months picture, it was a bit out of control!! Now he has to go every 4 weeks, just like other DS. Other DS should be about 2.5 - 3 weeks, his hear grows so quickly!! The timing is great. They'll be a few days after their 4 week cut when we arrive. We have early CP breakfast on our MK day and will head back to get haircuts, hopefully before park even opens. That's how it worked a couple of years ago. We were there before park opened, waiting for babershop to open.
