becky- i hear ya. i'm so wanting this thing to be over. and i really wish that everyone would stop sending me political emails, it's not going to change my mind and their guy is goingj to win in SC anyway, so it doesn't really even matter if I vote or not. Sheesh.

Anywho. Yesterday we had a little Autumn photo shoot outside. Thought I would share.

Ash - I love the pictures. I really need to get outside and get some pictures done. Somehow fall pictures with sweaters and stuff with palm trees aren't working in my mind.

Pollito - I can't believe how old Alex looks!! I swear 17 months + is such a growth. Alexander is going to be 18 months old next Friday and the last few weeks he has changed so much. He is starting to 'talk' more not really words but he is saying Dada a lot more and trying to combine them like saying DaMa or MaDa. Yesterday he was saying GaGa and then said GaMa!! I can't wait to see how he grows in the next few months but I also don't want my little baby/toddler to turn into a full grown toddler.

Becky - I can't wait for the election to end - I am so tired of all the commercials slamming each side!

Ash - cute pictures! Ellery looks like she loves the camera!

DMickey - I know what you mean about it not seeming like fall when it still so hot and there's no leaves falling off the palm trees. And they definitely start growing so fast somewhere after 1 year, and start looking more and more like little kids instead of babies.

I'm still having trouble with the "no real seasons" thing, too. There's a few trees around SJ that change color and lose their leaves, but it's so weird to see them next to palm trees! I was all excited when we had a few days of sweater weather last week, but now it's back in the 80's and I'm feeling disappointed! DH thinks I'm weird, but he's lived here since he was 3 (and was born in Hawaii), so he doesn't know the joys of watching the seasons REALLY change.

Ash, I love the pictures! You really get some great shots of Ellery.

Becky, I'm ready to be done with the election, too. Our neighborhood email group has disintegrated into a mess of political mud slinging and wacko arguments over rediculous things. It's just annoying, and I'd like to get back to discussing neighborhood issues. yeesh.


So Owen has gotten into the habit of waking up between 3:45-4:30 AM this week, and then he doesn't really sleep for more than 30 min between then and 6am, and then he wants to get up. It's thrown his whole schedule off, and he's been cranky and clingy and fussy as a result. And of course I'm not getting much sleep, so I'm a really cranky mommy, too. Today I decided that enough was enough, and I was just going to make him stay up until his regular nap time, even if I had to play bouncy games with him to keep him awake. Seems to have worked so far...at least for the day time. We'll see what happens tonight. Cross your fingers for me...I don't think I can stand many more of these freakishly early mornings!

Ellery's schedule is worse than ever right now. I just put her to bed at 10, and she'll be back up by 11 or 11:30 and then up until 3 or 4 and then back up by 7. And she's not napping during the day either. I'm so exhausted. I'm glad that we've got a check up at the doctor's next week.

I feel for you mommies who have kids who don't sleep well. I'd be pulling my hair out or slipping benadryl in the bottle. : (ok- I was kidding about that last part. mostly.)

Ash- the pictures of Ellery are adorable! I need to go have Vaylie's done. I think I'll do some around Halloween- she'll be turning 20 months then. It's going so fast! I can't believe she'll be two in February!

I am so sorry that you are having such major sleep issues When she wakes up, is she crying? Is she really clingy with you during the day?? I ask because when one of my brothers was 10 months old he had a double hernia and it took the Drs FOREVER to figure out what was causing his discomfort and lack of sleep. My mom thinks he was actually born with it and it took all that time to get a diagnosis. He was her 3rd baby and she said he was so different than my other brother and me. Once he had the surgery, he was totally fine. I know it's completely random but thought I would throw that out there.....

Hi Ladies!

I don't post here often, but read this thread everyday. Evan is a good baby, as is finally starting to let me get some sleep. I can't believe it's been 4 weeks already.

I felt like a terrible mommy. Last weekend we were going to visit my parents and my husband was getting the other 2 kids in the car. I picked up the infant seat and started carrying him out to the garage when my ankle decided not to work anymore and I fell out the door with the baby. ACK!! Luckily he never knew what hit him and didn't wake up. So I've been limping all week.

Anyway, I just got Ethan's daycare pictures back and I can't believe how good they are. Ethan doesn't do pictures very well so I am thrilled!

I can't wait to see Emma's school pics! Now I've got to get the baby's done soon too.

When she wakes up she usually starts out kind of whimpering until she wakes up totally and then she starts screaming, not crying, but screaming. She's not real clingy with me during the day, she's actually pretty independent. She would rather be crawling or pulling up or cruising. I'm starting to get pretty worried because she's not napping during the day either. After that horrible night last night she hasn't taken a nap today. I'm about to fall over so I don't know how she keeps going.

Bethany - sorry to hear about Owen's sleep troubles - my fingers are crossed for you!

Ash - another one with sleep troubles! It sounds like Ellery is barely sleeping at all - have you talked to the pediatrician about it? My SIL was having lots of troubles with their DS, and the ped thought he was having night terrors.

DVC - That must have been terrifying falling while holding the carrier, but at least Evan is ok! And Ethan's picture is adorable!

I've found a solution to Owen's middle-of-the-night wake ups....DH!! So yesterday I did manage to get Owen mostly back on his typical schedule (but with much wailing and gnashing of teeth...), but I was just wiped out and still feeling the effects of this darn cold. So DH, bless the man, volunteers to get up with Owen in the night. I told DH that the first thing I wanted him to try is just laying Owen back down in his crib and leaving the room, but if that didn't work, he could get him up and give him some more tylenol and a bottle.

Owen woke up the first time at around midnight, and DH went in, picked him up and snuggled him for a minute, then put him back in his crib with his pacifiers (4 of them), Eeyore, Mr.Grinch (yes, my son sleeps with a stuffed grinch doll ), and his blankie. And Owen went right back to sleep without so much as a peep!!! Then he woke up again around 4:30, and DH repeated the earlier routine, and within 5 minutes Owen was back asleep again. The little dude then slept all the way until 7:30!! (okay, side note...remember when 7:30 was way stinking early to get up, and "sleeping in" meant noon or later? )


For whatever reason, when I go in to Owen in the night, he wants to get up and gets mad if I put him back in his crib. But when DH does it, Owen is fine with going back to sleep. So I've told DH this means he's the winner of the night shift from now on! Woo hoo for Mommy! I get to stay in bed!

Yeah, sometimes I think about how much I used to sleep before I had Ellery, and it's like whoa... I haven't got to sleep an entire 6 hours at a time in 10.5 months, I think I regularly used to sleep in until 10 am, craziness!

That's good that you have your DH home with you at night and he can help. My DH works the graveyard shift so I'm all on my own.

Ladies- I'm starting to freak a little. So, I have told you about my supervisor who just miscarried at around 16 weeks.

Today we were talking about birth control and I said something about the IUD. She made a comment about how she and 2 or 3 other women she knows who had the Mirena IUD have had miscarriages since having it removed.

This last miscarriage (her 3rd) was due to the baby have Trisomy 13, so I know it wasn't necessarily due to the IUD, but still- I couldn't help getting worried about it.

I have been looking for info on the internet and I'm really not finding much about increased risk of miscarriage after IUD (a couple of sites say that there is, most just say that 80% of women get PG within a year of IUD removal).

I'm half tempted to go have it removed. It's really freaking me out.

Becky- talk to your doctor. I would be worried too, but it could just be coinsidence. I've never heard of anything like that.

I have been completely MIA again.... This pregnancy is kicking the you know what out of me. I'm completely exhausted!!! Let's hope that the end of the 1st trimester (next week) I get some energy back!!

It's tough. I started my new job and it's slow right now, so kinda boring, so that isn't helping. It's the same thing I did before, just a different nursing home. So..I know what the job can be like, but when there aren't any patients being discharged from the hospitals that need rehab or long term care...my life gets boring.

Brady is doing great, Ty, as well. We're finally having his friends bday party tomorrow at a place that has animals...snakes reptiles, critters more or less. They do education and let you pet them. YUCK. We have about 17 boys coming, I have my babysitter & my mom coming to help out! 17 6/7 year olds, plus my 2...well 16 boys, 1 girl. This should be interesting.

Things have been a little emotional around here. Ty's first grade teacher died a week ago. It was sudden/unexpected. We got the call from the principal last friday, she passed thursday night. So we dismissed him a little early from school to tell him, luckily we were heading to Wells, ME for the weekend camping, so his mind was off of it. But Tuesday am, when we were dropping brady off at daycare, he told me he was sad. They closed his school yesterday for the funeral. Luckily he was able to go to where he goes for aftercare, so I didn't miss work.

Yeah, it makes sense to me too. I think her other miscarriages terminated very early, but she was ttc, so she knew about them.

Well, I've been thinking about it a lot, and so this morning I checked to see if I could feel my strings. Nope. This is my second IUD anyway because the first time my strings pulled up into my uterus. So, my doc had to go spelunking to get it out and just replaced the IUD with a new one. So, now, the strings might be lost again. And boy did that suck.

So, I am going to go to the dr. and see if she can see them, and if not- I am just getting it removed. One less thing to worry about. I'll just go back to the Nuvaring. I liked it. It's just pricier.
