Elisabeth: So did it work? Did DH clean the kitchen? I tried it on my DD to get her to clean her room. I obviously don't have your touch because I went in this morning and it looked like a bomb went off in there. Her lap top was laying upside down on two books that were standing on end. I think she was trying to make a tent for her Tink doll. There were cloths everywhere -- she said it's because she woke up in the middle of the night and decided to get out her clothes for camp today. There was even a bowl of half eaten cereal (milk and all) which I knocked over -- from her middle of the night wake fest. I really have to stop sleeping so soundly.

So, who is going to be in Orlando July 28th and 29th? I'm going up Saturday afternoon and coming back Sunday afternoon. Anyone?

LOL! Yeah, it didn't work on my DH either - for cleaning anyway.

I can't believe I'm missing you by merely a few days. Days I tell you! :sad2:

I'm going to try charming MinnieSummer. Everyone - shhhhh, it takes alot of concentration. *draamy* MinnieSummer - You want you want to extend your vacation by a few more days. You are picking up the phone to book those extra days.......

It did work, but unfortunately the kitchen is a mess again! I swear it gets dirty faster than anywhere else in the house.

Ladies, I am very impressed with your powers of persuasion, uh I mean charm.;) I keep checking in and the vacation plans keep stacking up! I'm starting to ask myself "Now tell me again why you married a man who farms and works on construction????????" Kinda limiting timewise, everything has a season and he has all but winter locked in :confused3.

I'm going to live thru vicariously thru your trips.

Honestly, I'm excited about our August trip to POFQ, thanks to Elizabeths beautiful pics, and I am in the process of planning for January, so I am going to stop complaining. I'm looking for feedback about the Pirates and Princess Party in January. I have never been to a ticket event, wondered how this ine will work woth a family. Is this type of event the kind an entire family will enjoy? Kady will be 5 at the time.

Nancy, DH and I are planning to try the new Pirate & Princess Party. It sounds like it will be fun. I have been to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (once) and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (many times), and they are similar to what it sounds like the P&P party will be like. They are a lot of fun, for kids and for adults. What little girl wouldn't like to dress up like a princess, LOL? These events do last late, but there is plenty to do so you don't get as tired as you normally would. Of course, many people with small children leave early. Generally the lines for attractions are shorter than during the regular park hours (but only certain attractions are open). Hope that helps a little bit! I'm looking forward to reading the first-hand reports this January.

Minniesummer>> I have the boys version of your girl's bedroom. No tink dolls, but the scary stuff was doubled to make up for it.

What was I about to say? Oh yeah.. I'm GOING TO DISNEY WORLD! soon soon please hurry up soon!

Elisabeth: I talked about it with my DD and SIL and they think it will be fun. I am such a newbie to all of this, so I was not sure what to expect. I think the crowd level will be reduced because we will be there after MLK, but Kady does not seem to mind a lot of people. I am the one with no patience. We are going to order the tickets Sunday when I place the rest of my ADR's, and then DD will need to start shopping for costumes for my little Princess.
I am lobbying for the Mary Poppins Jolly Holiday dress for CRT, DD is still saying No (it is $125) Nana will get the Mary Poppins and also Sleeping Beauty because I would like to take her to the Princess Tea at the GF. She is such a girl, and we never had one like her in our family. DD would rather chew glass than go to a little princess tea, so I get to have this alone with her. :sunny:

Nancy, that's what Nana's are for--getting the things that moms won't. LOL! ;) I'm sure Kady will have a blast at the princess tea. I know that I would've loved that as a little girl!

No charm can work this time, I have to be back at work on Monday as I'm going for an entire week to PA in August. Can't take anymore time off work. As it is I can't even leave for WDW on Saturday until around 1:00 because my adorable curmudgeon of a boss decided to have a meeting for one of his charitable foundations that morning. I couldn't complain since basically, any other boss would have fired me by now for all the last minute phone calls telling him I'm in PA not in FL. Oh well, I'll leave a trail of Pixie Dust for you to find --- hmmmmm, that's a thought. I could leave a note for you somewhere and see if you could find it. That could be fun. Interested?

Oh fiddle sticks. I'll be in before you so that totally wrecks all the plans. I would've loved to gone on a hunt for a secret note. Hmmmm, maybe I should leave one for you to find. One of these days we will be in the world at the same time. :wizard:

Quick update on the family front. My father is being released from the Skilled Nursing Center today. He has learned to walk again, with a cane and someone following him as he looses his balance. He still has no real use of his left arm but can use it to brace things and can move it with stimulation. I've been searching for round the clock caregivers in addition to the woman who has been taking care of my mother throughout all of this. She's wonderful but needs a break. I've found one person for over night and hopefully will find someone for the evening shift (6:00 to 11:00). My mom is happy that he is coming home but knows that his time is short so she is also very scared. My dad is just glad to be getting home permanently (I've taken him home for day trips whenever I am in PA but he always had to go back and that was very depressing) and he's not really thinking about the future. I'm not scheduled to go back up until August 12th but can always do a last minute trip if it becomes necessary. Prayers are requested. Thanks.

Minniesummer: Your Mom and Dad are always in my prayers, along with your DH and DD. Thank you for the update, I think of them often and wonder how he has been doing. I can't imagine how difficult this has been for all of you. My Mom had another scare in the middle of June, and she is still trying to bounce back. She is in the next town, and that is hard. Another state has to be unbearable.

I was happy to see your plans for a quick trip, it will do you a world of good. Take care,

Nancy

MinnieSummer, your parents are in my prayers. I know it will mean the world to your dad to get to be at home. I'm sure he and your mother will cherish the time they get to spend together. You and your family are in my prayers as well, as I know this must be terribly hard on you all too.

Prayers to your parents, Minniesummer. I know your father will just be thrilled to be home! P and PD to all those that need it. May we all have some time to just enjoy our families without any problems creeping up.

Debbie

Minniesummer - Just had to stop in. Your family is in our hearts and prayers.

Hello Ladies of the lounge. Doesn't that sound a bit saucy! :rolleyes1

I am so far behind in my DIS board time and expecially on this thread. I have been super busy at work and home. I know many of you are far busies then I am however I do have to sleep 4-5 hours a night otherwise I would be here more often. ;)

We just got back from a wonderful long weekend in San Diego. It was Tim's family reunion and we had a blast. The weather was warm, but we stayed right on the coast so it didn't seem bad to us. The family had activities for 3 days then DH and I spent some quality time together. We stayed at a hotel in Pacific Beach that we both love. It is a little boutique hotel only 70 rooms but right on the water. We had a Jr Suite about 70 feet from the ocean. Great big room with the most beautiful bed I have ever slept in my life. I kept saying that I wanted to take the bed, mattress and down pillows and duviet home with me. So now I am on a search for the same to enjoy in our home.

I have missed you all so much and miss my Dis time. Have to try to correct that this weekend. It looks like I have alot to catch up on here in the LL.

MinnieSummer, I am so glad to hear that you dad is coming home. I know this has to be hard on you. Please take care of yourself. You have been burning the candle at both ends for far too long now. I know your mom and dad will enjoy being together for however long. You and your family are in my prayers as you have been.

Please notice my ticker, Our SIL is coming home from Iraq next week. :cheer2: Praise God!

Hugs, prayers and pixie dust to all!

Angel :sunny:

Angel: I'm so gald to hear your good news. I wish more of our boys were coming home and their families could have some peace. I will keep him in my prayers until he is once again on US soil.

My father came home and --- uugghh. Everything that could go wrong did. The Care center contacted the wrong home nursing agency -- one that we have had many problems with in the past and my father refused to let them in the house so I had to get that straightened out. Then, they had to re-arrange the furniture in his room because his illeostomy bag is on the left and that side was against the wall. Then he FELL in the bathroom. And to top it all off the girl who was supposed to start tonight taking care of them overnight decided she wasn't sure if she wanted to do it and needed to think about it after she went to play BINGO!!!!!. Anyway, I've got other people that I've spoken with but I can't get them on the phone today. Thankfully, the woman who has been staying will stay until we get someone. She has been a Godsend to my family, I honeslty don't know what I would have done if it wasn't for her. She will continue doing the day shift, 7 am to 6 pm and then I still need to find someone from 8 until 7 the next morning. They really want to have a few hours of privacy so I'm trying to give them that from 6 to 8 but it scares me to have them alone at all. Oh well. This long distance stuff is for the birds. Thankfully I've got one of those all in one plans for my phone or my bill would be through the roof.

Happy thoughts, happy thoughts, pixie dust to all.

Hi everyone. Playing catch up with the thread. I'm not sure if I missed them, but here are wishes for a magical vacation for those that have upcoming plans. Nancy and I are having fun living vicariously through everyone else.

Angel, Godspeed to your SIL. That is wonderful news he is coming home soon. Your weekend away with Tim sounds incredible. Was it was one of those pillow top mattresses? One thing that I don't have a problem spending money on is bedding. I recently discovered Egyptian cotton sheets and they are so nice :cloud9: .

Minnie, you poor thing. Every time I think you might be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, it ends up being an oncoming train :sad2: . Sending prayers and strength that you continue keeping those happy thoughts. Even in the darkest hours, I remember there being a lot of smiles with my parents. You just gotta keep going, keep dancing, keep living.

Goofy's, hope all is well. Check in when you can and let us know about the new house. We're heading up to Lake Placid this coming weekend, so you guys were on my mind. Hopefully, you were at least able to slip away to Lake George for a mini vacation.

My house is nuts as usual :dance3: . DS has been having some knee problems, so first to the physical therapist, then off to the ortho doctor. Because they are already into heavy training and the start of competition season, the doc wants to get x-rays and an MRI right away. X-rays took all of 5 minutes and everything looked fine. The MRI took us 2 hours because he had to have both knees done. Now we have a followup on Friday to make sure there's no cartilige damage. I'm obviously hoping it's nothing more than growing pains combined with the increased summer training. He just turned 16 and in the past 2 years, he's grown about 8 inches. Fingers crossed that all he'll need is some physical therapy to stretch those muscles and ligaments out. I've been trying to keep up with his calories and protein to make sure that the muscles continue to grow properly, but with his training, he needs somewhere around 3200 calories per day and 98 grams of protein. I thought I was pretty good with reading food labels and understanding nutritional values, but now I'm studying every single one with a magnifying glass. DH is taking off to Dallas on a business trip tomorrow, so I'll be holding down the fort on my own for the rest of the week. He'll be home in time to pack up the car and head to Lake Placid for DS's first competition of the season. They're moving up a level, so we'll see how that goes. In true Lizard fashion, I did get all the moms together and convinced them that we need some spa time at the Mirror Lake Inn. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can maybe arrange an afternoon tea service or something for us in their spa sanctuary. I may never come out :teeth: .

Take care everyone.

Hello everyone! :sunny:

Angel, I'm glad to hear that you and Tim enjoyed his family reunion as well as some time together. I've never stayed at a boutique hotel before, but all the ones I've seen on "Great Hotels" look like so much fun! How wonderful that your SIL is coming home from Iraq! Praise the Lord!

MinnieSummer, I'm sorry to hear that the transition of moving your dad back home has not been smooth. I will pray that the problems will straighten themselves out so you can get some relief.

Tammi, oh my goodness--over 3,000 calories a day! Your son's training must be exhausting! I hope that the doctor's report is all clear, and it's just growing pains.

Things went from bad to worse with my parents but I think I've got everyone settled into a new routine. I found a different person to stay over night with them -- it's a man and my mom isn't too happy with that but my dad is so she's going to have to adjust. The insurance company refused to pay for the fluids he gets 5 days a week so I switched him to hospice where it will be covered but then he can't get physical therapy. I convinced the doctors to put in an order for my mom to get home physical therapy for her arthritis and the the physical therapist agreed to work with my dad along with my mom to get around it. I'm still looking for a person to stay with them over the weekends but that's just not happening.

I'm also looking forward to this weekend at WDW. :Pinkbounc The only problem is, I pulled out my confirmation for the reservations which I made two weeks ago only to discover that I made them for AUGUST 29th and 30th not July. :sad2: I called to see if I could switch it and there is nothing available. I'm seriously depressed and my DD is not happy with me at all right now -- which is a bad thing since DH is in PA on business and to visit with his family right now. I didn't realize my DD could be such a little ???? WOW! She obviously gets that from her DD not me.

Minniesummer: I am so sorry that things were going so badly for your parents. It is devestating to try to arrange for care from such a distance. The support that they will recieve from within the hospice program will help you, I think. It sounds as though things are beginning to get back on track. Now your DD. DD's....can't live with them ...can't live with them....she will calm down.

Tammi: How is your DS doing? 8 inches of growth sounds like it would be painful! I sympathize on the grocery bill. My DH nephew lived with us for 2 years when he was 16. He took weight training and swimming in school, and worked in a gym at night. He was always hungry! My niece had issues with her knees, she did need surgery, but after she was able to keep them health with physical therapy. They work so hard, but it can be hard on their joints Keep us posted on his progress. Have fun in the spa!

Angel: I am so glad that your weekend was so nice! A room on the water sounds so nice. I am waiting for the day that my DH will feel comfortable with a nice long pampering weekend! Let us know when your SIL comes home, he is in my prayers daily.

I keep checking in and love to hear all of the plans being made. Things are busy at my home. Our crop is finally catching up, the weather was not kind in the northeast. At least this is not our livelyhood. Our insurance agent told us that some of her clients are really in trouble. They take production loans, and if there is no crop, there is nothing to payoff the loan.

My Mom is feeling better, so I am more comfortable with the trip I planned in August with my DGD and my Sis-IL. My DGD does not know it, but my niece Debbie is joining us...she is Kady's hero. Sis-Il is not happy, but I am not going to worry about it anymore. I cannot wait to see POFQ because Elizabeth has me enchanted with her pics of this resort.

Take care everybody, and have a wonderful weekend.
