The New Lizard Lounge

Angel>> I have no advice except to tell you that my July trip for DD's graduation was supposed to be Dolphin CL and Poly concierge. I chickened out about three weeks? before we left and went with AKL concierge again. I felt like the world had been lifted off my shoulders and I KNEW we'd have a wonderful time. DD LOVED AKL *pictures NEVER do it justice* and after going to Ohana's, which she liked, she was glad I had switched reservations on her back to AKL.

Dutch's Mommy>> If you ahve never been to AKL you are in for a treat! You really don't need to do anything your arrival day! Take it easy, go for a swim, check out EVERY savannah, nook and cranny, do the tours, SLEEP! Have dinner at Jiko or Boma that night and if you still feel like you're missing something go to DTD for the evening. On our basic itinerary, we always have a goal for either the morning or the evening and we make sure we're in that park for that. We rarely stay in the same park all day long, but instead literally park hop from park to resort to park. Sometimes skipping the resort part depending on how late they are open. We love this 1/2 scheduling and it leaves us open to just be us and not weighted down. I think growing up with a father who planned to the minute and counted to the penny made me go to the other extreme. It might not be right, but its working for us! Have a great time planning!

*Waving to BT if she is watching from afar.

Angel16: I will look through my Christmas catalogs tonight ( a huge task in this household as we get about 7 or 8 a day *L*) and find the ornament information. I think it was in the Solutions catalog but I may be mistaken...it really is charming.

Do any of you know what Hobo Spiders are? They are very nasty, venomous and aggressive little stinkers who like to come in at this time of year. We have traps by the doors...well hidden so my hubby told me...which are cardboard triangular thingies heavily coated with some sort of VERY sticky gluey goo....*sigh*...Little Ms. Josie got into one of them today. She came inside with a major portion of the thing stuck to one of her ears, some on her chin, some on her chests, one leg and both front paw pads. I cut some of it off and then tried to wash some of it off...no way. I called my husband and wound up using a little bit of brush cleaner, with the intention of then rushing her to the sink to wash her feet off before she had the chance to lick her paws. It didn't get that far. She instantly went into respiratory distress so she and I spent the afternoon at her vet's. Basically I nearly killed my puppy.:worried: Fortunately her vets are personal friends so they took care of her immediately. I'm sitting here in tears thinking of what I nearly did.

*sigh*

It's been a rough afternoon. Poor baby is laying here, drugged out for the evening...but alive.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Suse

Suse - You are so incredibly sweet! I would love it if you PM'd me info on this.

You guys have no idea how incredibly grateful I am for your kind words and prayers. :grouphug: It's going to be a tough week and I know we can all use them right about now.

Donna - It's great to see that you've had a chance to talk with BT further. Even better that it's reading "step in the right direction." I hope we can mend this thing and soon.

Woodysroundup - only 9 more weeks to go! :earseek: My how time flies.

Floridafam and Desiab - If you don't mind me asking, how far along are you guys?

I'm really enjoying reading about your plans since it makes me smile so keeping them coming. I'm going to take a pecan praline on my way out, but I'm bringing in some pineapple with caramel sauce for dipping from O'hanas as well since it looks like we have a larger crowd these days. Brewing some fresh decaf for our expectant mommies since cordials are not on the menu quite yet.

VAgal76,

I'm 19weeks and 3 days. Just starting to feel the little one rolling around. :D Had an ultrasound last week and everything looks great.

Dh is so nervous. Our last DD was very sick with Group B Strep and he's afraid this one will get it.

All of you pregnant mommies out there....get tested for Group B Strep!!!!::yes::

VaGal and Angel: I have sent each of you a pm with the information. Please let me know if the link does not work.

Suse

Well hang me by my toes and call me surprised! I just recieved a PHONE CALL from "Sarah", at the Poly /WL IPO, to confirm some of my special requests. Do you think three months of complaints might have finally reached someone's ears????

I might start getting excited now! :jumping1:

GoofySuze - Wow, that's tough. Big :grouphug: to you. Don't feel guilty - you were doing what you thought was best. She'll be up and a'runnin' before you know it. Puppies are like children and I'll bet my bottom dollar she will learn from this little escapade. The most important thing is everyone is OK.::yes::

Ooo, the butterfly in your tummy feeling! Isn't it wonderful? :teeth: I know you had to be around this time, but didn't know exactly since you found out you were having a girl. I threw out a post that I thought it would be a boy. See why I don't gamble or play the lottery. I'd lose all my money!

I'd have to agree for testing. They did the same for me, but thankfully it was negative. I also have a RH factor thing going on since DH blood type is positive and mine is negative. I'd have a higher risk for complications in a 2nd pregnancy if I had a 2nd pregnancy that is.

Maybe one of these days we'll have another child. My parents and my MIL would love to be grandparents again and again and again.

Sorry, we were posting at the same time. Sarah has been takin gcare of my stuff too, and so far I think she is great. I am pretty sure on our previous board someone had mentioned her name and that she was new(ish) but really aimed to please.

GoofySuse - OH MY !!!

I am so sorry about your puppy. Thank God the sweet baby is going to be ok. I know how you must feel. But, DO NOT feel that it was your fault. From the reaction you puppy had, it makes me wonder if she got some spider venom or allergic to spider hair etc.. Also, as for the brush cleaner, I would have done the same thing if my DH said to use it. I am a real animal lover and Ms. Josie and you are in my prayers.

Thank you for the great site. My eyes are still misty from reading about the ornments. When will I ever get over it? I will be ordering a couple , that is for sure. You take care and give your Ms. Josie a extra little love from us at the lounge.

#1Hockeymom AKA - AKL Debbie Please note my sig. line. I talked to Don at AKL. The mom is named Lulu. The baby is Asali which means.....are you ready for this......Honey..:p isn't that cute. Also, it is a female guess she better be with a name like Honey. Lulu and Asali can be found on the Uzima Savannah. ::yes:: Her big brother watches over her and his name is Buba. Can you all stand a little more cow trivia? The mom that had a calf when Don first started 4 years ago was named Mimi and her calf was Cleaveland - from the Drew Carey show. :teeth:

I had better get moving:moped: I was offically off work 1 1/2 hours ago, but have been in a meeting with my boss. I will try to get back on later tonight, if DH doesn't already have plans for the evening.

Polar Express is WONDERFUL. We just got back. My girls, 6 and 3, sat on the edge of their seats, and my little one chattered in excitement all the way through it. It's terrific, terrific, terrific. They have also released it in IMAX. If you have ANY possibility of seeing it in IMAX, GO FOR IT!!! It would be fabulous. Half the movie you feel as though you're on a roller coaster, and it would be a lot of fun with the IMAX experience.

It's not just IMAX...it's IMAX-3D. This is the first full feature motion picture to be released in the 3D format. (There have been previous IMAX "experience" versions of feature movies such as Spiderman 2 and the Matrix sequels but this is the first one in the 3D format. Most...but not all...of the IMAX theatres that are showing it have the equipment to do the 3D presentation. So, make sure you check with the theatre if you want to see it in 3D. Also, be aware that IMAX 3D movies are often short run...so, if you want to see it but delay too long, you may find that it isn't playing anymore in IMAX 3D, even though it's still out in the regular theatres.

By the way, be on the lookout for what is going to be one of the most difficult to find Christmas gifts this year....the Lionel Polar Express train set (O gauge).

But, back on topic....

Looking for some advice for our WDW trip this March. We are only staying in concierge for two of our eight nights but are hoping to get the IPO to assist with PSs for non-concierge days and my understanding is that the IPO will generally extend the privilege when asked to do so. When I send an e-mail to the IPO, should I be bashful about getting their help with all my PSs or should I just not make a big deal about it just give them a list of the PSs I want for our whole stay?

Thoughts or suggestions?

TIA

Vagal, I am 20 weeks and 1 day, but look like I am 38-40 weeks. I have only gained 3 pounds, but I feel like it has been 30.

The other day I ran into someone I knew growing up and she could not stop exclaiming how HUGE I was! Had I not known that she is slightly mental  I might have been highly offended. Okay I admit that I drowned my sorrows in a bag of M&M's.

I hope everyone is having a good evening! Talk to you later.

goofysuse So sorry about your puppy!! So glad she's okay...

dutchsmom I'm so glad IPO got back to you!! I have been very pleased with the Poly so far...And... I have counter envy!!!!

BT I miss your clippie making dupa darlin' :sunny:

everybody!! I feel like I'm on a swing. One day I know everything is fine, the next day I'm questioning everything. Help me out..

I got an earlier flight so I'll be in WDW by 10:00 a.m, Friday. I was going to do 2 days at AKL so my DGD could look at animals and do her report. And we could eat at Boma's (our favorite dinner restaurant) My girlfriend (first time at WDW) arrives at the Poly on Saturday. She was looking forward to drinks in the lounge and watching Wishes with me. My DGD wants the first park she takes her Dad to (who has never been to Disney) to be EPCOT and take the monorail... We wouldn't have the monorail until Sunday.....

Sooo... I should just bag the AKL and stay the whole time at the Poly right?? Another reason not to hop, we will have to spend the night at an airport hotel in order to make it to our flight on time. Then to not be able to unpack, and move again would be a little much, doncha think??

I would just ask my daughter, but the CL portion of the trip is a surprise to her. And the Illuminations cruise. (that my son and his wife will miss) And the Family Magic Tour...

Hey everything else is all settled. So I have to stress about something!! 30 days!!! 30 days!!!!
:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

help me!!!!

Not sure the answer to this one. Anyone ever do this?
You might get more responses if you post your query to the Concierge Info thread on the Resort Board

They can and will do that for you. While I've only asked for a PS on one day that I wasn't staying concierge, the IPO staff gladly arranged that PS for me. Rather than appearing "presumptuous", I would politely couch my request with a BTW, we have other PS we would like to schedule for XXXX dates, can you also assist with those? I'm sure they will be happy to assist you. ::yes::

Hi everyone!

I haven't been on for a short while, and I just now see the move! Just wanted to pop in and say HI to everyone, hope you guys are doing well!

Now I have a question for all the LLs: On our first day we arrive at around 11am at AKL. We currently have 5 day PHs which I wasn't planning on starting until the day after we arrive. I am trying to figure out what to do our first day. We arrive on a Monday and I planned on doing:

Tues: Sunrise Safari and AK day
Wed: MGM
Thrs: Epcot
Fri: MK (PS at CP for Pooh and friends)
Sat: MK (DSs b''day and the Illuminations cruise)

I am thinking maybe I should upgrade to a 6 day PH and do MGM on the day we arrive - there doesn't seem to be too much at MGM that we are interested in.

I agree with Debbie-there is plenty to do at AKL for your arrival day and you can always go to DD. It's really nice to just relax a bit your first day. If you don't think there is much you want to do at MGM you can always take the boat from MGM to Epcot. We actually took the boat from MGM to the Swan/Dolphin and walked to Epcot quicker than the boat that stops at BW and YC/BC before Epcot. BTW-I LOVE the CP!

Good Morning! Coffee's on the sideboard, along with juice and OATMEAL - I can't make them bring it back to CL, but I can leave it out here!

GoofySuse so sorry about your puppy. I hope she's feeling better today. Don't feel bad - your intentions were good.

ITA about Sarah at Poly IPO - she was one of four planners helping us last trip and I thought she was super.

Dutch'sMommy Debbie gave you great advice. In August when we planned ahead to spend more time at the resort and doing "non-park" stuff we enjoyed one of the best short trips we've had. Some of our favorite memories from all our trips involve non-park activities - watching the fireworks from the Tambu Lounge; a crazy round of mini-golf at FG; riding both monorail loops, one after the other and getting front car on both; sitting on our patio, surrounded by ducks and ibises, feeling a little like the Pied Piper - apparently the previous guest had been feeding them. BTW, CP is our favorite breakfast, too, with or without the kids!

Thanks everyone for the advice - we will just chill at the AKL. Can I get some feedback on those of you who have tried Boma and/or Jiko for dinner. I am thinking about trying one of the two as I have heard really good things.

Also - thanks for the ::yes:: about the CP - I think it will be fun. I just need to remember to get DSs b'day button.

Lovesdumbo - thanks for the mgm/epcot boat idea - I hadn't thought about that and it sounds really good - that way if we are done MGM early we can mosy over to WS at Epcot which should be open a bit later than FW - I am hoping for 8pm
