The New Lizard Lounge

Must still be asleep - I forgot our big family news! Add another little prince or princess-to-be to the lounge roster - my SIL is expecting again! She's due in May right around the time we will be in WDW.

steveanddonna...no problems here. Sorry you're experiencing difficulty...

I used to have one of those names (first married surname)...we'd answer when anyone started stumbling over the first letter...a K...yup, that's us!

I think that the CM knowing you was funny tho'...small world!

I can't speak for all the resorts, but I know several people at Poly CL read these boards regularly. More than one CM has mentioned specific things that have been posted. It was even weirder (in a nice way, though) when a fellow DIS'er passed me in the hall on our last trip and asked, "Are you Donna?" I felt like a minor celebrity!:D
BTW, mine is a "K" name too. DH's is just as bad as mine, so I decided to just keep what I'd already spent years learning to spell!

goofysuse and steveanddonna I have counter envy.....

Still up in the air as to whether or not to spend the first two days at AKL.....hmmmmmmmmm

Finally decided and paid for my son's room at WL. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc No AKL for him....

But he'll have a car and will be able to go visit the Lodge.

All of these new princess: princess: congratulations steveanddonna's sil!!princess:

Oh and, another vote for Boma's to whomever asked.....:hyper:

That is funny.

I had heard that CMs do read the DIS boards. When we were at the BC, one of the Lounge CMs said she sometimes checks the Lounge Lizard thread.

How they figured out that you were the Donna of steveanddonna, is amazing though.

I can't imagine walking into the lounge and having the CM say "Hi GoofyJoofy, how was your day in the parks." :rotfl:

Donna, it was easy to recognize you and say hi in the hallway in October. Someone was posting pictures of you and a couple of other LLs at about the same time we PMed about a couple of things about the Polynesian. You had also posted the dates of your October trip and they overlapped ours so I described my son a little and said I'd look for you. I know you don't remember the PMs as you were surprised that I was there. I should have explained more why I knew it was you!! Pretty easy with dates and pictures.:D Sorry it "weirded" you out!

Hello, Lizards! I've been AWOL as I get to the packing in my days off - I start back tonight on midnights. Four more shifts and I'm OUTTA HERE!

My suitcase is packed and sitting beside the dresser. I packed too much. I've got everything taken care of except the bathing suits (swimming lessons on Friday) and the overnight bag with our medications, etc...and undies for everybody.

I'm so excited I could burst. Fortunately I have a week to chill on the beach before Disney.

News of the possible strike's a little stressful, but I'm not going to worry, I'm not going to worry, I'm not going to worry...

Now to catch up on everything that's gone before since I vanished a few days ago....

Hey, do they have nametags I can get for the girls to wear at the parks? Everybody always spells their names wrong - they always do "Carolyn" and "Merideth." It would be nice if the characters could just look and copy...

steveanddonna, congratulations on your new little niece or nephew!

and also, Donna, you've set me a new goal. I'm hoping a CM will see me and say, "Hey, you're storybookmum!"

(I'll settle for a towel animal..lol!)

Can't stop :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Did I tell you DH tried to get me to cancel the two nights at AKL????:scared1:

He's being very, very quiet now, and I contacted my lawyer to put the divorce papers back on hold...lol. We're not budging from that hotel, even if it IS a mortgage payment for two nights (madness, madness....oh well....)

More later, when I catch up...

Love,

Kris

Kris, too bad you didn't have a little more time. I got my DD8 a princess name tag from the website laughingplacestore.com . There's the Christmas store in DTD and the 5 & 10 at MGM that sell Guest of Honor badges, but I think they are out of stock right now. You can have them engraved and they look just like the one's the CM's wear. Maybe the IPO department at AK can take care of purchasing them for you and having them in the room at check-in?

My sister still teaches and rides quite a bit - lucky! But she lives in Sudbury (Northern Ontario) and BOY is it cold riding in the winter!

Thanks everyone for your opinions on Jiko and Boma. I think we are going to try Boma for breakfast one day (if I can squeeze it in!) so maybe we will try Jiko. I really want to try Whispering Canyon but it doesn't seem to be in the cards this time - an excuse for a return visit perhaps? LOL

Hey!! :wave2:

I haven't ridden since I was a teenager - oh, so many years ago! But my DD has a quarter horse, takes lessons and has been getting ready for next year's shows. She does mostly Western Pleasure, but is also taking English lessons. When this all started last Spring, she didn't have a horse and we live in town. Told her that we wouldn't ever be able to buy her a horse as we don't have any place to keep it. She said "oh, I know, I just want to take lessons!" Of course, a couple weeks later, we were looking at a horse and finding a place to keep it! Kids.

BTW - DD and I love Boma, both for breakfast and dinner. At dinner, we really love the soups, hummus and desserts!;) Edited to add: Jiko is one of our very favorite on-property restaurants, we always have the Kalamata Olive flatbread and the monkfish - to die for!!! DD has also tried the filet with mac 'n cheese, very good.

Hey, VAgal & #1hockeymom!!!

I guess I should tell about my Halloween trip to the World - a little late, but better than never, I suppose!!!

Our trip began with a bang, when we went through security, and then heard that our flight was delayed by an hour!! It seems that the Portland terminal had to be evacuated due to a security scare, and our plane originated in Portland, picked up in KC, and continued to Orlando.

So, we were quite late checking into POR, and didn't get any of our requests met. We were supposed to check in at about 5:30 p.m., so it was gonna be hard to get any requests, anyway, but it was still aggravating. We had requested Alligator Bayou, bldg. 14 or close to bus stop. Instead, we got the Mansions, not near a bus stop. Oh, well, we were in Oak Manor, room 9293 and the room was very pretty, with cherry-wood furniture and pretty cream-and-rose colored bed-spreads. Also, the mattresses were new, and very comfy. For some reason, we failed to take any pictures of the room with our new digital camera. Sorry.

We really enjoyed MNSSHP, had a blast! We felt a little silly, though, getting candy without a little one present!:teeth: We decided it would be easier to ride the rides without a costume, so we just wore Halloween-themed t-shirts. We especially liked the storytellers, they were funny and got the crowd involved.

The Food and Wine Festival was great, the food was all delicious and we spent a couple of evenings there. Oh, and we ate at the Sci Fi, had good sandwiches and shakes, Casey's for a hot-dog, Rainforest Cafe - had the appetizer sampler and a fantastic shrimp pizza, and were really surprised and pleased with the Earl of Sandwich, where we shared the Chicken Florentine and Hawaiian BBQ sandwiches - yummmm!!! We also ate lunch at Tony's Town Square, and we probably won't return for a while. The food was OK, but the selection has been severely cut back. I had the Roulade of Eggplant over spaghetti, which was pretty good, and DD had a chicken panini that she liked, but we did not feel we got our money's worth.

Overall, we had a wonderful weekend visit, the weather was beautiful, transportation was prompt, the parks weren't overly crowded and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely try to go again in Oct.!!! The best weather we've had so far, and we've been in March, April, Sept., Dec. and the summer months - around 85 degrees daytime, 65 night-time, no rain and little or no humidity, perfect!

Tammi, getting AKL IPO to take care of it would be perfect, except that AKL is at the end of our stay, and we have 5 nights at POR first....sigh. That's messed up a few plans, though I still think it was the way to go. Those pins look great. I wonder if there'd be enough time to have them delivered to our condo before we go if we ordered from Laughing place...

Hey! Maybe FeralPeg could do it for me and tuck them into a gift basket for POR!!

I'm going to PM her.

Thanks,

Kris

Kris,

You would think that AKL could still do it as a courtesy . It might not hurt to ask them either. I've seen pics of the baskets that Feralpeg does and they are incredible. That would be perfect if it works out for you. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any updates that say that the Guest of Honor badges are back in stock. Worst case is that you can e-mail or call customer service at the laughingplace store. They advertise that their items ship within 7-10 days and they have overnight shipping as an option. The princess badges are very cute.

Hope it works out for you.

You mean everyone doesn't call you GoofyJoofy in real life??? :teeth:

shhhh I am not really here.....

check my signature! We're going back! *happydancingbutveryquietlycheering*

Debbie, way to go! I look forward to all the details! (when you're really here, of course!)

Tammy, thanks. I send a PM to Feralpeg and she's going to check to see if she can get anything. If not, I have a letter drafted to AKL and ready to send off pleadingly. Failing THAT, I'll ask for an overnight from Laughingplace to the condo address...

Phew!

Kris

Holy cow!! I go away for a week and you all up and move the lounge. I hope you lifted with your legs, not your backs.

#1hockeymom - back to our earlier discussion regarding AKL. When I call CRO, I should request a deluxe room (me, DH,DS7,DS5 and DS2) and concierge? We could get by in a regular room, but who would want to with that many people? My little guy won't sleep in a crib anymore so we really need the daybed. Is that something that is easily accomplished? From what I could tell on the WDW website, you pay extra for the "daybed" rooms. So, I guess my question is, would the "deluxe" part of the reservation be only a request or something I have paid for? Does that make sense?

Also, which trail and floor should I request? You've got to lend this AKL newbie some slack. :teeth:

Thanks

A
