Dormer rooms are on the 4th and 5th floors of all the lodge buildings. There are some traditional style rooms on the 4th floor as well. The first, second, and third floors have all the traditional style rooms. The dormer rooms have two queen beds, but the traditional style rooms have a daybed in addition to the two queens.

To request a specific building and/or view, all you have to do is call whomever you made the reservations with (travel agent, central reservations, Disney travel) and tell them your preferences. They will note these on the reservation, but they cannot be guarenteed until check-in.

I really like the Alice theme. I have stayed in both Conch Key and Big Pine Key as well. Big Pine Key is very close to the main building and both pools. Conch Key is very close to Narcossees, the marina, and the boat dock. Conch Key is also a smaller building (the smallest of the "regular" lodge buildings, Big Pine Key is the largest). Any of the buildings are nice. :)

Hi, just switched my ressie to the Gf and am beyond excited. Is there a fridge already in the room or should I request one. We will have a 6 year old and a 1 1/2 old in the room so a fridge is a must. Also does anyone know if there are any standard room on the ground floor. I know this sounds kinda silly buy my DS is mildly autistic and I don't want to risk a balcony to high. Thanks. Now I have to go back and read more threads!!!

California Dreamin, Thanks for all your help. I think they will enjoy the Alice motiff too. This should be a trip to remember!!!

There are ground floor garden/standard rooms. You'll have to request a refrigerator if you'd like one. :) There are minibars in the rooms, they are expensive, though.

Thanks CaliforniaDreaming, I'll make the request as soon as I get my written confirmation, which should be this week. We are taking Tiffany Town Car to GF and they have a grocery stop so we can stock up on stuff. Just so we can avoid the mini-bar temptation!!

OOps! As I said, new to dis boards, sorry! My post went to the main resort page!

We have "lagoon view" GF booked for July - what should we ask for if we want a great MK view, but close to the main bldg. and new pool? I need to save as many steps as possible, bad ankle. Are there any specific room #'s I can ask for?

Thanks, your site is great, only wish I had known about it sooner!

:)

I don't think you're going to get both a MK view and be close to the Main Building and the new pool. Most of the MK views are in Boca Chica and Conch. Big Pine is the closest to the Main Building and new pool. Big Pine has a few MK views, but most of their lagoon views don't see MK.

You might be best to decide which is more important to you - MK view (ask for Conch or Boca Chica) or proximity to Main Building and new pool (Big Pine).

If all those requirements are important to you, I would upgrade to the Royal Palm Club. There you get the Main Blg, near the new pool, and if you get 4401-4409 or the same rooms down one flight (I think 3301-3309) you get a fabulous Magic Kingdom view. It is quite pricey though. It all depends on what's most important to you. Unfortunately, you can't be certain you'll get a MK view anywhere. I don't think they will tell you for certain you will get it. You just have to hope for the best.
Good Luck.
I'm sure CaliD can help more with this answer. I'm far from an expert about the GF.

Lisa :)

Thanks, guys! Well, it seems I have a decision to make - I'd love to stay in the RPC, but we love to eat at nice restaurants, so the extra $120/night seems a little steep!

I'm torn, I know my DD would LOVE to see the MK every day from the room. Although, since it still isn't guaranteed, maybe closer to the main bldg. and pool is more easily attainable! Anybody that's been in Big Pine with lagoon view, what did you think?

Just thought I'd update my post. Called CRO and asked about the difference in price for the dates in July that we'll be at GF. Since we booked at the "Summer Special" code, our lagoon view room was $322 per night. CRO says that an upgrade now to RPC would cost an extra $200 per night, so I decided to stick with my "lagoon view" and hope for a great room! Any specific room numbers to ask for in Boca Chica?

Most rooms in Boca Chica do have good views.

Just a FYI: room assigners hate when people ask for specific room numbers. Sometimes it does work against you. If you do request specific room numbers, it is very difficult for them to accommodate your request, and many times if that room isn't available they'll have no idea why you requested that room and won't be sure what your actual preference was, and will just assign any room.

Lisa :) RPC MK View rooms are #4301-#4309 and #4401-4409. ;)

CaliD: Thanks for the tip! Should I even ask for a certain bldg., or just that we would like an MK view? This is the first time we have ever sent in a room request, usually we just take whatever we get. I hate to be pushy!

Thanks, :)

I'm staying at the GF over Christmas with my family - it's the first time we've stayed here and after researching the Dis boards we decided to book it ourselves from the UK, we're currently staying in the main building concierge but after reading about the Grand Plan my parents are really keen on switching packages. My question is this, if we do go with the Grand Plan do we really need to go concierge as it seems all our meals are included, including in room dining? Also, if we go Grand Plan and not concierge then we will obviously need to change room location (we have 2 connecting rooms) - what would you recommend for someone who has never been to the GF (or a deluxe!!!). We're staying at YC for New Year so I'm going to post the same question on the YC board, unless of course anyone can advise me about the YC here?! Thanks.

CaliD and all other GF experts.......My best friend and I are looking ahead to 2004 for a very extended WDW vacation. We love the BWI and will spend most of of stay there but we would like to expand our Disney horizons a bit and start our trip off with a 3 night stay at the GF.We are thinking of a lagoon view possibly in Boca Chica from the info I have gathered from your awesome thread here. We are planning our trip to begin as soon as regular season kicks in April 2004. My question is ... are discounts usually offered during this time frame.? I have travelled to WDW several times at this time of year and got great discounts each time. What has your experience been? I know there is no foolproof way of knowing but we like to have an idea so we save accordingly.Thank you in advance for your help!!

Humm, you'll probably be able to get atleast a 10% discount. It really depends on what the economy and bookings are like whether or not you'll see better discounts. April is a very popular time to visit, so you might be lucky to get any discount.

:)

Does anyone know if there are any photos available that show the views from a Main Building Concierge Room?

I am assuming you can get some sort of water view from the concierge deluxe rooms if they can fulfill the request?

Has anyone stayed in a main building concierge with a lagoon/MK view? Curious to know your impressions.

Does anyone know if there exists a good map that shows a top down view of the Grand Floridian AND the MK on the same map? I am trying to get a feel for how the resort sits in relation to the MK so we can choose our view preferences.

I have pix taken from Main Building Concierge Castle View...rm 4408. If you'd like me to email them to you, just send me your email address. My email is LLLisaT@aol.com
I must say, we LOVED our room! It was truly magical! My 2 yr old keeps talking about Cinderella's castle. Concierge service did leave much to be desired...very nice, but I wouldn't pay a whole lot extra JUST for that.
I can tell you more if you'd like. I haven't gotten my trip report done yet.

Lisa:) ;)

We've stayed in the main building a couple of times now and are returning there on July 27th :bounce: Just to let you know that the marina side has a perfect view of the MK, but there are some drawbacks. Gasparilla's is right below those rooms and can get very noisy, plus the smell from the boats in the marina is a bit strong sometimes. I've always enjoyed the lagoon view myself. We've seen the hot air balloons from our balcony and the water pageant. I don't know which view I'm going to request for July. My 6 year old has her heart set on sitting on the balcony and watching the castle change colors.

I don't know of a map that shows this. The only rooms with a true MK view in the main building are the ones that face the marina.
