The *NEW* Grand Floridian Resort and Spa FAQ thread (Nov 2007)

No - we're not in the main building, but I'm not sure which building we are in. DF had called concierge yesterday because they sent us a questionnaire to fill out and the CM told DF that we were not in the main building. Then today, a CM called me and left a message about the upgrade, so all I know is it is a one bedroom suite with a marina view.

Will you still have main building concierge access with this suite? If not, I would likely request that they move me to another concierge room type in the main building (Royal Palm Club). To me, the concierge food offerings and lounge are more important! The regular deluxe concierge rooms are the same price as the honeymoon rooms, and as you can see from Kona Queen's recent pictures, are quite spacious!

(Unless they're getting around to changing the bathroom wallpaper in there, as another DIS'er reported from another building...)

Correct me if I'm wrong please...

I stayed on the 5th floor last time and had a room right next to the suite up there. I think it can either be a 1 or 2 bedroom suite because there were doors for just the bedroom side - which I believe can be used as individual rooms. If you look at pictures they are the bowed windows on the top floor - and the bedrooms are to either side of it. I don't know if these rooms have balconys. Perhaps someone else knows.

As far as the marina... It's a nice view. I posted pictures a couple of pages back. I believe they were added to the pics at the front of the thread. Take a look there and see. If they have you in Sago, then you may have a view of the MK. Conch Key and Sugarloaf overlook the marina but not MK...

Hey... see if they have you in Sugarloaf... that's concierge...

We just got back from our very first stay at GF! It was everything you guys said it would be and more. We didn't get upgraded but we did get a corner room with 2 balconies and a great view of Cindy's castle. (not direct view..but could still sit on the balcony and watch wishes.) GF definately spoiled me! I don't know if I can do any other resort now!

I know -- I thought they were finished as well... I sometimes wonder if they say stuff like that because they are short on rooms. We went last December and got in around midnight. They told us there was a "sewage problem" and we had to spend our first night at the Poly instead (but they did comp us for that night). I was really wondering if they just didn't have enough rooms and they use that as an excuse. We were able to get in our room the next day.

Thanks everyone for all of your input. Now I just have to talk to DF and decide what to do! Oh - does anyone know where I can find pics of the 1BR suite? I couldn't find any.

Also -- I know this is a really stupid question, but when they upgrade you, is it a "free" upgrade? I don't want to be surprised and get a bill that is $1k more than we were expecting.

You can check allearsnet.com for pictures. I don't believe they've updated the photos but it would give you a general idea. As far as billing you for the upgrade I wouldn't think you would be charged since they had to change your original reservation but that is something I would check when calling back.

good morning one and all - just back from our Wonder cruise and a FANTASTIC stay at the RPC - still honeymooning.. but wanted to put up a couple of photos and comments. it was hands down the most fabulous amazing time we've had here...the ambiance is one of hushed elegance. we were in room 4429 - standard but magnificent!! and the concierge service - in a word, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a huge thanks and hello to Vonnie and Joe - two of the nicest people we have ever met! they were able to help us at every turn and went above and beyond - for them, this is not a job but a calling. they're on in the afternoon, so stop by and say hello! we are already planning our return trip to the Grand - not as soon as we would like, but none the less, we will be back! also, rent those Sea Raycers - what an absolute blast!!!!

Hello!! This thread provided me with TONS of useful GF info before our trip so I thought i would return the favor the best i could with a few pics of the beloved GF...definitely our new favorite resort...and the Club Level was sooo worth it!

Michelle, great pictures & CONGRATULATIONS!! I didn't realize you were on your honeymoon. It was neat talking to you the other night. That was a fun surprise. Just back from a wonderful stay in Sugarloaf. We got out Thursday about an hour before the snow started. The only glitch the whole trip was bell services never came up to get our luggage at check out. We waited over 20 minutes and then took the luggage ourselves because we had to get to the airport. We weren't really paying attention to the time, never waited more than a couple of minutes before, so by the time we noticed we didn't have time to call them again. We got a lodge tower room It was room 6420, I believe someone already posted pictures of that room. The new decor was ok in the main room, but the bump out part was very plain. Just beige walls and no pictures, with a pink sofa and blue chair I really missed the table and chairs and the mini bar. Had turn down service 3 out of 4 nights. That was the first time we didn't get turn down in all of our trips, including GV.
