Heatherlynn, I posted on the other thread that you started, but just wanted to say that me and BF were not huge AKL fans either. I think that the atmosphere (or maybe ambiance) of AKL and GF are nearly polar opposites. While the GF is so open, bright, and airy that AKL seemed dark and dreary to me. Our room also seemed MILES from the busses. At least you got to visit this time, and your plan for a split stay sounds great!

haha well I want to stay GF, DH wants to "try" poly, so i figure we will conpromise lol. like i said in my other thread..it was a neat place to expereince one time..but thats all I eneded. not dying to go back like the GF....I seriously was tearing up leaving after dinner.

Ok...

So what's this about a mystery lady???

Who is she and what's the story about her???

its a long story, there was a thread about her on the resorts board I think but prett sure it got closed! search for it, maybe try key worls like lobby and grand floridian?

Hi everyone! We are back too! We had a fabulous RPC trip! As usual, everything at the GF was wonderful - room, food, lounge,CM's,shops. I love RPC- worth every penny to me! The food was great in the lounge. I only missed the cream for the scones a little.;) We did miss the fruit in the a.m. since that was supposed to be our "healthy" meal. I had to have cheese danishes and pecan rolls instead!:lmao:

The parks were uncrowded so that was a huge bonus. MVMCP on the 13th was great! Not crowded and great weather. Saw CP with Andie MacDowell on the 14th and it was wonderful. Since this was a girls trip, we did lots of shopping in DTD World Showcase - lots of neat Christmas items from all the countries. Had an Almond Pretzel from the Norway Bakery - my new favorite!

So funny that everyone is talking about the Poly. We had a bounceback offer in out room ,so I called about it. Of course there was nothing for RPC or any GF rooms for that matter! I booked Poly LVC because it was such a great rate. Except that I'm changing it because we decided we would miss the GF too much!! We'll just be at the Poly for the first night if I don't end up switching the first night too!
I know, I'm addicted to the GF.

The lobby was a zoo at the GF ! I looked for the lady that supposedly sits in the lobby, but I didn't see her!

The RPC CM's were fabulous as usual! Just soooo helpful and friendly!

Glad everyone is reporting back with great trips!:)

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!:santa: :wizard:

Welcome back Heatherlynn, Kelly & Princesses!

Hope you all had a nice time. :goodvibes

Heatherlynn, we only visited the AKL once for Boma (nobody in my family liked it but me - Boma that is) and I thought it was beautiful, but ya...total opposite of the GF in just about every way possible. At least ya tried it. How were the buses?? Since it doesn't share were they good & plentiful and timely?? I sometimes think about giving AKL a try just for a few nights since it is just so different from anything else we've ever done.

Kelly!! Hope it was magical for you. I was thinking about ya a lot and hoping and wondering how you were doing at the YC & what you thought of it.

Princesses - Sounds great! I really miss the GF. What room did you have/view etc? I saw the mystery lady there when we were there over Thanksgiving. Kind of strange but whatever I guess. :confused3 That other thread got pissy (big surprise) about if she's homeless or mentally ill etc....why is the GF management letting her loiter etc. She is just an old lady with a big wig - could hardly see her face - that sits and listens to the music and maybe people watches....she has bags full of stuff and brings some stuffed animals. Whatever but the trhead got nasty and people got jerky. Predictable.

Happy day. :santa: Hope everybody is ready for Christmas and not stressing!!!!!

channing-busses were great! a lot of times we got to the bus stop and walked right on one. only had to stand up a couple times. we had one long wait, but that was only about 15-20 minutes, all the others came within 5-10 min. no complaints there. i liked the no sharing, too! lol.

teh resort was very very well themed, just not our style. i will explain more and show pics in my TR.

Any thoughts about the best building to not be overlooking the potential construction zone from anyone?
Your best bet may be a room in Sago Cay. I would ask for a room overlooking the marina. You'll have a nice water view and still be far enough from the courtyard pool that you won't see any of the construction.

I posted my room pics on the YC thread. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=22255768&posted=1#post22255768

I am gonna do a mini trip report and MVMCP pics soon.

I took a look! Great pics - what a beautiful view. :thumbsup2 I do enjoy the YC & that room configuration...it feels spacious. I am interested to hear how you found their concierge to turn out to be. Hope things were super & you had a blast.:)

I know once Xmas is over I will start feeling the Disney thing again. Just isn't there yet, though. It will come to me during the long cold gray & snowy days of Jan and Feb.;)

Grannie Minnie - No! You didn't mention it. Have a wonderful trip!!!! Sounds like a lot of fun. :goodvibes Hopefully your knee will be all better by then.

Channing :)

I liked teh YC but missed the GF. The lounge was small but it was ok. The only issues we had was lack of food options. They didnt put out enough. The snacks were just sad cookies, smartfood, goldfish and pretzels. Thats it every day the same. I have stayed concierge at every deluxe and this was the worst snack by far. The dinner only out oout 1 app. That was it. Then dips and crackerd and stuff. The dessert was cookies and a plate of mini desserts that were ok but once agian the same every night.

I missed the GF where the food was different and plentiful with lots of options.

We had a great trip though and I loved the staff there. THe buses were great as well. They really need to do something about the food.

I just want to take the time to thank everyone for this wonderful thread! All the pictures, hints, and trip reports have been wonderful!:thumbsup2

100 more day until our first trip to the GF!:yay:

Merry Christmas:santa:

Woo hoo! Only 17 days! I have a few questions for my fellow DISers!

We booked through a travel agent..I'm a bit nervous having done this cause so much of our vacation plans lay in the hands of someone else. (We've always booked directly ourselves in the past).

Now, we requested a park view. But how do I make sure we get something decent? Do I need to request something in advance (certain floor, or wing) and is 17 days enough time to do it in?

Thanks very much in advance. :thumbsup2
