We leave in 12 hours & hope to arrive at GF by 10am tomorrow!:cool1: I think I will have to take a sleeping pill to be able to sleep tonight.:lmao:

If you guys have anything you want me to find while I'm there let me know & I will be happy to do so.

I'm still trying to find out why we were "carded" for a bottle of water at EPCOT using our snack option on our dining card. Yes, that's right. DH was asked to see his driver's licence to buy a bottle of water after he handed the CM our gold color KTTW card. I did e-mail Disney to find out why this happened.

Also, forgot to tell everyone that new carpet is being planned in the lounge area in RPC. I don't know if they are going to recarpet the entire hall or just the lounge. I was under the impression that it is the entire 4th floor. Manager said that it would take about two days. I know that it will be soon though.

they do this to keep people from using someone elses kttk card. I am guilty of having misplaced my card & not realizing it until I go to use it a few hours later. In that time someone else could find it & use it to charge items & use your up meals. I really appreciate the few times that I've been asked for i.d.

In any case, I'm glad to hear that you had a great time & that your FIL is doing better.

The only time I have ever been asked to show ID when paying with my Key To The World card is because I had my Annual Pass since I get 10% off and the Cast Member wants to match my name from my Annual Pass to my photo ID.

I also remember reading that the Cast Members are supposed to ask for ID when the total purchase is over $50.00 if your paying with your Key To The World card or any other credit card, however I am not sure if they still do that.

MommyGina, so glad to hear the news that your FIL is doing so well! I would imagine the vacation at the GF was just what you all needed and that you were able to get away. Family time is everything and what better place to relax and regroup than the GF?

How funny your DH spilled on his white shirt and HAD to buy a Mickey Mouse golf shirt!

Our countdown is at 60 days. How true MommyGina that the time at the GF goes so fast, yet the time leading up to the trip is so painfully slow!

Thank you all for this great thread! :thumbsup2
We are planning to add two nights (hotel only) at the Grand Floridian to our existing 10 days POR stay. This way we could relax at the most beautiful hotel in the world where we also have never stayed before.

We are thinking about booking a regular TPV room.
Now my question (and I am sure this has been asked here a million times):

Do all TPV rooms have a balcony? And are there many TPV rooms that have a limited view due to trees or anything similar? I would be very devastated if we would pay for a TPV room with a blocked view.

Are all rooms in the upper floors are CL or are there also standard TPV dormer rooms available. I don’t know why, but I like dormer rooms and I would not mind that we would have to stand on the balcony to see the MK. (I know that you can have a seat on the regular balconies and have a great view anyway.)

So would you recommend a dormer room or would most of you prefer a non dormer room?

Jut enjoying the thread page by page this morning....25 days until our trip, DD6 and I am obsessing over our first GF stay  She is enamored with every little detail :cloud9:

:lovestruc She even loves the soapdish in the bathroom AWESOME!!!

Anyone have reports on how the situation is working with the cut-back in monorail operations? We are booked for RPC next month but are considering switching to BCCL due to the monorail issue.

How difficult is it to get a cab at the GF? We have an early breakfast reservation at Akershus and I'd really rather take a cab to the Beach Club and walk through the International Gateway than take the monorail and have to walk from the front of the park. Thanks for any help! :goodvibes

We would call valet before we left our room and they would have a cab waiting for us. Make sure you tell them the size of your party as they also have taxi vans as well for larger families.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this thread. Me, DD, sister & niece are staying at the GF in October. This is a major deal for me because me & DD would never be able to afford the GF, but my neice has a work conference there in October and we get to come along for fun!

Kudos to the photographers on the list. I LOVED seeing all the pics. KCMike, u seem to outdo yourself with each picture that you post, love them!

Looking forward to reading more as the days go on.

Yes, there is a wonderful coffee machine in SL. I enjoyed it so much on my last trip, that my friend joked that I should have slept in the lobby. Have fun at the GF, I wish I were going again this summer, but work gets in the way.

This is probably a silly question but I'll ask anyway... is this espresso machine for use by guests and is it free?

Now I know Disney doesn't given much away for free so I'm almost laughing at myself posting this, but I just had to ask!

The Club Level lounges at the Contemporary, Polynesian and Boardwalk Inn also have their own types of Espresso machines and it's 100% free for those guests to use, so it will also be free for Club Level guests at the Grand Floridian.

Wow, awesome, thanks for the info.

I would like to know too. I am wondering if spending so much money to be in a monorail resort will be worth it :confused3

I'll try to help a bit. There are very few rooms at the GF without balconies or first floor enclosed patios/porches. The only ones of which I'm aware are not TPV rooms. There are some deluxe king room in Royal Palm Club without balconies as well as a few deluxe rooms in outer lodges without a balcony.

Not sure about any TPV rooms with blocked views. I only remember reading of blocked views when people were upgraded. Our them park view room had a stunning view of the MK with nothing blocking the view.

Club level rooms are only located in the main building (Royal Palm Club) and Sugar Loaf. So there are dormer rooms in other buildings that are TPV. We've never had a dormer balcony at the GF and it wouldn't be my first choice but if you prefer it, ask for it. :goodvibes I'd request Conch Key or Sago Cay.

Happy planning. It sounds like great fun. :surfweb:
