KC Mike - It has indeed been brutal, the slightly cooler temps today seem like a reprieve! We were still at 100 today, with a 108 heat index, but it has been much worse over the past week.:scared1:

bean bunny - :welcome:

I have not seen a white chocolate Mickey at the gift shop, but I don't shop a lot. Maybe others can give a more accurate answer.

I having those post vacation blues right now. It's so bad that I'm checking flight costs and looking at my kids' school calendar for a Christmas getaway. It's been 100 degrees or more for several days. Today we finally had a break and its 93. It's been brutal. Glad I could help with the pic.

We are having the same lovely weather here in NYC. A friend of mine is in Disney this week and said she isn't looking forward to leaving the cool weather there! lol

I hope you're able to work something out!!!

I had to laugh, yeserday at work I was teasing my nephew, saying at least if it was this hot here, we should be in Disney enjoying the rides. The heat index here was close to 100. It would have been cooler if we were at Disney!!!

It's terrible! It was over 100 here on Thursday and Friday. The air conditioning unit on my job isn't big enough for the building, so anytime it's over 90 it stops working. I was sweating while sitting at my desk! At leastmin Disney you can get some relief on a ride ormp in a store or restaurant. :rotfl:

On such a hot day, here's a cool picture at the GF.

BCV23 Alone with 3 kids  my hero! I think I'm getting nervous since I feel unprepared. Less than a month:cool1: I keep telling myself....the plane will be full of children....it'll be OK :goodvibes Thanks for the hug, I needed it!

Thank you to ALL for those wonderful photos:lovestruc

pas your kids will be just fine. If no one strangled my super annoying DS on a delayed flight home, no one will even bat an eye at your little lovies!

:hug:When my DS10 was just about 18mo we flew to Orlando, and it was a disaster. Worsened by Benadryl (a suggestion from a coworker)..... it had the opposite effect. A VERY long flight to say the least...

My secret weapon is melatonin. ;)

Lulu'sMom, thank you for your kind words. I am sorry to hear you are also dealing with a health issue, my thoughts and prayers are with you also.

Thank you to k&a&c'smom and KCmike also for your encouraging and kind words. It means a lot. Reading this thread and seeing the pictures always puts a smile on my face!

So, here's a fun picture from June. We saw this notice posted on the elevator across from the grand staircase. Isn't it great?!

I hope everyone is staying out of the heat today.:sunny:

pas130 - I know you will do great, and there will be many children on the flight!

Jungle Cruiser - :rotfl:

janeapplemeadow - love the photo.:goodvibes

I'm shocked that Disney is knowingly using the backstage areas for guest overflow on a regular basis. They have a good idea in advance what their crowd levels will be, and they are so good at hiding un-magical construction, I'm just surprised they allow guests to sit next to backstage areas for fireworks viewing without some kind of screening. Or, to shunt guests through that area for end of the night park exit without a plan to keep it out of sight. They use very creative screening onstage, I expected they would do the same backstage.:flower3:

We'll just have to disagree on this one, good friend. I don't think they do it on a regular basis. As for screening, it is backstage. When we were routed that way, we weren't forced but were very grateful for the "escape." If show is that important to an individual, that guest could just choose to stay on a mobbed Main Street. On the 4th, I imagine the guests who were allowed to remain backstage to watch the fireworks were grateful to see them in less crowded conditions. :confused3

I just added on 2 extra nights to our Grand Floridian reservation! :woohoo: 4 nights just didn't seem like enough! So now we have 6 nights booked and I couldn't be more excited! :yay: 107 days to go...

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hi everyone! I've been MIA for awhile, wrapping up the busy wedding season for my cupcake business. Now i can start focusing on our upcoming vacation. 89 more days to go!:cool1:

What a sweet business! Happy planning. :surfweb:

BCV23 posted that it is once a week. I was posting that I wasn't sure how often it was performed, sorry for the confusion.

I think I posted it as a question as I'm not certain. Can't remember if I read once/week or if a magickeeper told me that. And of course, things do change. Could be once/month by now as far as I know. :rotfl:

Plus, I would also to thank k&a&c'smom for all you do on this thread! Also, thank you to KCmike for the gorgeous daily photos! I have mentioned I have been dealing with a serious health issue and reading about and planning trips to the GF (I am so lucky to be able to go several times this year) just keeps me going.

Doesn't she do a great job for all of us?! :grouphug: Love KCMike's photos as well as everyone else's. Thinking of you, Jungle Cruiser. Hope all is going well. :wizard:

aghh all these beautiful pics of the Grand makes me wish I was there now:surfweb: Beautiful Pics!!!!

We leave 9 weeks tomorrow for orlando and 10 days at the GF, its our 5th anniversary and we're really looking forward to it, plan on hanging around the GF a lot and chilling out.

Anyone know if they have dvd players In the rooms? We stayed in the main building for our wedding and don't remember if there was one?

Even great friends can disagree, right?! Wouldn't the world be a boring place if we all thought the same way on everything?

 I understand.

Thanks for the kind words, btw.:flower3:

:welcome: and congrats on the anniversary!:cloud9: The GF is a great place for hanging out.

There are DVD players in the CL rooms, but not the regular rooms, unfortunately.

Hello Everyone!:goodvibes
Last night, we switched from BWV to GF-main building-theme park view! We are so excited, especially DD10! We never seem to make up our minds on resorts, and tend to go back to the BWI. We do love the GF a lot though (our last stay there was in 2008), and will not be switching resorts again!:rotfl:
Looking forward to catching up on this thread!
