pas130 - Thank you for thinking of my family. Keeping our faith and our fingers crossed for the well being of my FIL. Maybe, just maybe we will head out on Monday to the GF. We will know better tomorrow. Dad is making some progress, but not enough at this point.

MommyGina - Good news that your FIL is making progress. I hope he continues to improve, and you will be on your way soon.

disneydreamin247 - how cute about your son and the pool!:cutie:

I just read that the DTD Basin store closed. Has anyone been to the GF recently? I was wondering if their Basin White store is still open.

Thanks!

Somehow I missed the news of a GF Expansion. I am very torn. We love GF and it is our favorite resort. Does anyone else have concerns how this will impact transportation, crowd pools and services provided at GF? We have never stayed at the Contemporary, but I would imagine that BLT have impacted that resort?

Where did you read this? Oh no. We love Basin in DTD as well as at the GF.

Basin White is still open as is the Basin store in DTD. The one at Disneyland closed sadly.

I think it remains to be seen but I wouldn't expect a noticeable difference. It doesn't appear to be that large when you consider how much more space a DVC unit takes compared to a regular hotel room.

The CR was different since BLT essentially replaced the North Wing. Although it's much taller, there aren't that many more units than the old wing. The only difference I see is the monorail in the evening and I think that's people taking it from the MK to the TTC instead of the ferry or express monorail. 3/4 of the people get off at the TTC. Don't think it has anything to do with BLT as that problem started before BLT opened.

MommyGina, I'm so glad your FIL has improved a little bit. I hope today is far better for him.

I am a newbie here, but I am so excited after reading some of this thread about the GF. We are 30 days left in our count down :cheer2: !!!
I am traveling with my DD (15), DD BFF (16 & a first timer at WDW), & grandparents!!
This trip will be for my DD's Sweet Sixteen party: . Does anyone have any special suggestions to make this trip extra special? We are will be staying for 4 days. I booked the GF with a Magic Kingdom view. I hope I won't be disappointed.
Back to finish reading this thread :thumbsup2

mommygina Glad FIL is a little better today. I pray he is comfortable, and I am sure they are keeping him sedated also to allow his brain to heal after the surgery. I will continue to pray for all of you, and I hope you can go to your much needed GF trip ASAP:hug:

Mommygina - Thoughts and prayers to your family....

If you can't make your GF trip right now, I hope you are able to reschedule without too much trouble....

Sweetly - :welcome:

Sounds like you're going to have a fantastic trip. There are many things you can do - you could order a chocolate slipper dessert to be delivered at a meal (or even to your room); you could order a custom cake; you could order a surprise to be in your room from Disney Floral. I'm sure that others will chime in with other ideas. Also don't forget to get your daughter a happy birthday button and her friend a first visit button.

Have fun!

 I love my DD6 with all my heart. I just switched from RPC to SL. She is ADD/with some OCD traits. She is so excited about GF, BUT had a freakout about having to hear the piano and music from the RPC lounge. LUCKILY we had the option of Sugarloaf. She thinks it will be quieter there, and also wants to see the fireworks from the beach. Mommy is a little bummed about no TPV....BUT if the Princess is happy, we are ALL happy. And Mommy still gets to stay at the Grand:cool1: I know I shouldn't complain, but I figured all my friends here would understand....:grouphug: This may warrant an upgrade on my girls' trip.....

To all my friends here on the GF thread, I cannot thank you enough for all the well wishes and prayers for my FIL. It is so nice to know that I have friends out there! Again, thank you.

The update for today on Dad, from the doctor, is that "he has turned the corner." He is more like himself, to the extent possible. He is moving his arms and legs. Based on that news this morning, DH said that we are leaving for the GF in 3 more days!!!!!

DH is taking the laptop so I will try and update all of you on what is happening around the GF.

I would say that is accurate because most of the time during the evening if I was taking the Resort Monorail from the Contemporary, the majority of other passengers got off at the TTC. Plus sometimes the lines were so long we needed to wait for a second or third Monorail until we finally got on. Well I am assuming a lot of people in line weren't staying there or at Bay Lake Tower, because they were coming from Chef Mickey's, California Grill or The Wave. Finally even when Bay Lake Tower was being built the Monorail lines were basically the same during that time, so that's anothe reason why they don't have any extra effect on it.

Having just caught up on this thread I have read your posts about your FIL and your vacation. I was so happy to read he has improved and that your trip will happen. Sometimes that Disney Magic comes just when you need it most. Have a wonderful trip.
