Thanks for the news. I sure hope they will have buses from the MK, too. I can't imagine using the small boats solely to transport guests during EMH nights.

We have some ADR's at HDDR, CG, and AP that will be affected by this early shutting down of the monorail. It's going to take some getting used to not hopping on the monorail at the CR and arriving back at our resort minutes later. Thankfully the other ADR's during our time at the GF are at the Poly and will be within walking distance and now I am soooo glad we are also booked at Narcoossees and Citricos.

Hope everyone else makes out ok as well!

While I agree it's great if your staying at the Grand Floridian and have ADR's there or at the Polynesian because of the walkway because no Resort Monorail is needed. However the only downside is when it rains because I am sure no one wants to get soaked when walking to one of their ADR's.

So true!! Our last trip, we were staying at YC, put the girls in the Sandcastle Club at BC for our "date night". It was pouring rain and we had ressies next door for bluezoo at the Dolphin. We took a cab there AND back. I was not about to get my nice outfit(shoes in particular) soaked as it would have put quite a damper(no pun intended--haha) on our nice evening.

One good thing though. I believe I saw the plans for the new GF DVC show a covered walkway from the new building to the main building so you wouldn't have as far to walk/run uncovered between Poly and GF...when construction is complete.

ITA Buses make me squeamish that's why we stay where we don't have to use the as often. We only have one dinner it will affect, DH and I are having dinner alone at CG but not till 9:30, I don't want to feel rushed to make it to the monorail by so we'll probably cab it

Definitely. I saw it online, but the CM couldn't find it, had to get Guest services, took awhile, but they found it and booked it

What are your dates? I looked it up under August-September room only offer then added on the tickets...when I called they looked it up using the 3 letter code on the disneyworld.com special offers page. Like I said they were having issues finding availability, but the CM looked it up on the website too, saw it, and grabbed a higher up to help. VOILA!

Does anyone know if I can pull up to the Valet parking area and stay there for about 15-20 minutes to check in for my GF resort reservation? I have an ADR at DTD so I do not want to have them Valet the car only to bring it back within 20 minutes (I do plan on doing online check in so hopefully it will speed things up)
I am hoping this will work so that I can get my checkin done early then leave for my ADR and HS for the rest of the day from there

Yes, you can... They will have to pull over to the left side of the valet area so you are not blocking anyone else coming in. You'll be fine...

Adlergray - I hope you are able to snag RPC, If it is booked when I'm hunting, I often find it open just before our trip. Good luck!

Usually, parking under the portico long enough to check in is fine; as Tink rules described, you just let the valet know you will be returning shortly. If you return within 30 minutes or less, no big deal.

Last August, and again in March of this year, we were told we couldn't park there for check in, and I ended up handing them the keys for valet. I was a bit confused, as it has always been "no problem," and we had transferred from other resorts where it was still "no problem!" I hope these were isolated incidents, and not a policy change.

In any case, go in assuming that you will be allowed to park long enough to unload and check in, and if it is an issue, simply send one of your party in to the front desk while the other parks the car.
