The deluxe room picture I saw has two queen beds and a sofa bed, so they accommodate at least five, like a standard room does. Right? Confused as to why a larger room would accommodate fewer people.

I believe there are 4 or 5 queen and the same for king. After the last refurb the day beds in the deluxes were replaced with love seats (or at least that is my best recollection) and now accommodate 4. There are quite difficult to book but keep checking as I have been able to change my reservations from standard RPC to the deluxe by carefully watching.

Weird. You're right. When I change my number to 4 the deluxe queen pops up. Funny that a LARGER room at GF holds FEWER people. It is my understanding is that Disney doesn't allow you to book a room that way, correct, even if two of the kids are under 4 and could easily fit on the loveseat? I am NOT trying to break rules (I'm a very strict rules follower kind of person), but I'd prefer the deluxe room for the space for the kids to play when we're in the room.

pas130: I have already started planning for Fall 2012!:cool1: but I wonder if the GRAND will have us back, as I looked like a crazy drunk walking thru the lobby to get to the valet trying to not pass out or get sick on anyone:lmao::lmao::lmao:. Funny now, but boy was it awful while it was happening.

I'm sure they will be sooooo happy to have you back, and well enough to really enjoy it there. It'll be a bonus if you don't vomit on the valet :goodvibes Just kidding, I am sure they all felt so bad for your family:hug:

For anyone that has rented a cabana before: I saw that you can order food and have it delivered to the cabana to eat. Is it the menu from Gasparillas?

I agree that it is strange the deluxe rooms only accommodate 4. You would not be able to book it with 5 people, even with the little ones being able to fit on the loveseat.

OK, though I am definitely a bit (a lot?) embarrassed to even post this, we have finally decided we are staying at the Grand (for sure!) for our upcoming September girls' trip.

Why am I embarrassed to admit this? Because we've flirted with just about every resort, in and out of Disney, in Orlando before finally coming to this conclusion. (And also because after our last disappointing stay at the Poly, I basically thought, and said, I'd never stay on site again.)

After originally booking (in January) Bay Lake Towers for my mommies-only trip with my best friend, and being happy with that choice, a date change would have meant a resort switch midway (and then again for my weekend stay with hubby) and, while at first that was what we planned, after more consideration moving with two preschoolers after only two days, with just four more to go, sounded like more hassle than fun.

So, we started looking at places that had availability for whole stay: considered Boardwalk deluxe rooms (for extra space), Beach Club (actually booked a split stay here), off-site Waldorf, round and round, until we were making ourselves crazy with choices.

I swear I've spent as much time on the phone and computer looking at rooms and options as we'll be spending at Disney. But, this morning, I booked the Grand club level for our nine-night trip. (Friend is leaving after first week and husband is going to join son and I for two-day weekend break to conclude trip.)

Sure we'll miss the extra space at Bay Lake (goodbye two-bedroom, three bath <sob>), but the Grand Floridian has always been my friend's dream resort. She's a Disney fanatic who had surgery last year and did a VERY special thing for me that happened to coincide with my last Disney trip, which is a BIG part of why I want to treat her to this trip. So, fingers crossed it will all be as magical at looks.

I'm actually really excited to have finally made a decision and can't wait to get to the Grand in a little more than a month!

You won't be dissapointed. The GF is a great resort. Make sure you take time to kick back and relax at the resort. Spend a lazy afternoon there and you won't be disappointed. There is so much to take in there. I find it very relaxing. My favorite resort. I could probably spend my whole vacation there and never go to a park.

Looking at the thread and pictures gets me very excited about the trip. :)

KCmike - love the picture. Mine can't compare with yours. It's killing me to think that we only have 349 more days until we are back there! Keep those pictures coming.

There are no TPV available anymore for our dates. But therefore Club Level rooms with a Garden, Marina or Lagoon view.

Is Club Level really worth it? Is there also a lounge for your free breakfast in the outer buildings or do you have to go to the Main Building for your free drinks and snacks?

It would have been really great if we could have had a TPV room because we would have loved to see Wishes form our balcony. But as there are no more TPV rooms can anyone tell me if there are other spots in the resort where you can see (or even hear) Whishes despite from the areas which are only for resort guests?

I just had a look at the first page of this FAQ thread again and am I right that there are no TPV Club Level rooms in the outer building (Sugar Loaf) at all?

So if you want to have a TPV Club Level room you must book a room in the Main Building?

There is a lounge in the CL outer building. We had a second floor, marina view room and cold see wishes from the balcony.

For anyone that has rented a cabana before: I saw that you can order food and have it delivered to the cabana to eat. Is it the menu from Gasparillas?

I know it was a couple of years ago but in 2008 on one day we ordered our lunch from private dining. Not sure if it does come from Gaspi's. The other day we walked over to Gaspi's and used our CS and brought our lunch back to the cabana. We plan on using our CS's again next year as we will be renting the cabana's for 2 days again. Happy Planning.:flower3:

Don't know if this is news, but they are apparently expanding the testing for Club Connection (http://orlandoparksnews.blogspot.com/2011/06/disneys-concierge-club-connection-tests.html) to people staying in TPV rooms that are not concierge. I know this because the GF IPO called me and asked if I wanted to be included. :) Of course I said yes.

I'm excited to stay at the GF real soon! I was supposed to stay there for a birthday trip in March that got canceled.

Hello, everyone!:wave2: We've been in WDW for a week, we stayed at the BC this trip, but had tea at the GF on 2 days. Got a few photos of the showers and dressing area of the themed pool building, I'll try to upload them in the next couple days.

Hope everyone who has been at the GF in the last couple weeks had a great time, and anyone preparing to leave soon will have a Grand vacation.:goodvibes

When I have more time, I need to read all I missed while I was away.:flower3:
