pas130 - I hear ya, I keep thinking I'll stay at another favorite, and end up at the Grand!
If it were me, I think I would save RPC for another trip and do GV this year. I keep thinking they'll have to do a better discount in the coming months, and those main bldg. rooms are sooo expensive.
Hello everyone...
I'm new to the boards and will be staying @ the Grand Floridian in May. I guess there's a lot of construction going on there now so I was just wondering what suggestions some of you might have in regards to building requests and things of that nature.
I'm hoping my family can check in early or at least store our luggage so we can get our theme park tickets and head straight for the parks!
Welcome!

Glad you've joined us!
Yes, there is a new DVC building going up on the beach between the Grand and the Wedding Pavilion. There is fencing blocking off the worst of the view, but you can still see it from the monorail and the upper rooms that face that way.
What room category do you have booked? That would help us suggest a building. If you simply want to know which building will be furthest from the construction - Sago Cay will be the furthest away, if you look on the map on the first page of this thread you can get an idea of the layout of the resort.

My personal favorite is Conch Key, as it is close to the courtyard pool, boat dock, marina and a short walk out the back door to Gasparilla's. Boca Chica would be a good choice, too, as none of those rooms should overlook the construction, and it is close to the courtyard pool and boat dock.
Here is a link to an aerial view of the Grand, if you scroll down a bit you can see the beach area under construction:

Oh, and yes, you can check in early and store your luggage with bell services until your room is ready.
