Holy cow, gals and guys!

We just arrived at the Grand and were told that we've been upgraded to main building concierge! Our first time ever! We are so excited and can't wait to find out where our room is - more later ... Hurray!

WOOOO HOOOOOOO PHYLLIS!!!!!!!!!:dance3::cheer2::cheer2:
Congrats on the upgrade!!!! AWESOME!!!!!Lucky gal! :thumbsup2

Keep us updated!

PS........KOOK!!!!I forgot to tell you that I am excited about your military discount on a DeluxeQMB room! You ROCK!!!!:worship:

Looking at the pics, the room we stayed in was the same as the deluxe queen , just had a KING instead. (to get one of these rooms is a "fluke" as it's a standard king, go figure.)
They still have the two deluxe queens with the lagoon/Poly view by the turret suites that overlook the courtyard/lagoon.
These do NOT have connecting doors.
But you do get the idea of a larger balcony and the view!
It is a angled room and not as large as the other option though.

As for the wide deluxe queens , many do book these rooms and connect them as they are better than booking a 1 bedrm suite. Make sense?

Thank you kacsmom!

We stayed in a deluxe queen in the main building in September that looked like "option 2" in the diagrams posted above. It was room 4422 on the 4th floor, just opposite the lounge (across atrium). I posted a photo at the time of the view. The straight across view was of the beach, lagoon and Polynesian (Spaceship Earth in the distance) and you could see the beach pool as well, to the right--which means that it also overlooks the current construction zone. Off to the left was Bay Lake Tower, but the view was blocked by a wall so you had to look around to see that.

It did have the double-size balcony, which is nice, and did NOT have a connecting door, which is also nice, as our original (non-deluxe) room did have a connecting door and it was very loud.

That's great to hear that they do still have two DQs w/o a connecting door - at least we have a 1/3 chance of getting one.

Holy Moly! We can't wait for more details and photos and details...

Thank you for sharing in my savings excitement:hug:

We stayed in a deluxe queen in the main building in December. It was on the 4th floor. I don't remember the exact number now, but posted a photo at the time of the view. (And think I listed the number then, too. If you do a search of my user name you should be able to find the exact post in this thread.) The view was of the beach, lagoon (Polynesian in the distance) and you could see the beach pool as well, off to the right. Which means that it also overlooks the current construction zone.

It did have the double-size balcony, which is nice, and did NOT have a connecting door, which is also nice, as our original (non-deluxe) room did have a connecting door and it was very loud.
The photos must be in the old thread since this thread was started in spring of '11. I'll have to go take a look at the old thread. Thank you!

ETA: Just read your edited post above - thank you for the link. I thought you had posted last year so I didn't find it. That is a fantastic photo! I love it!

I found this Deluxe RPC room number info. in an old thread:

As for the room numbers, the main building rooms all start with 4. For the 3rd and 4th floors, the 2nd number coincides with the floor. For the 5th floor, the second number is 0 (I don't know why). The 3rd and 4th floor have the same basic layout, but the 5th floor has dormer rooms and the sloped roof line. It appears through some great detective work here, that we have the following:

Option 1 design: 4319, 4419, 4320, 4420
Option 2 design: 4322, 4422

In terms of where the rooms are located, 20 and 22 are very close to each other. They'd be separated by the turret honeymoon suite. Rooms ending in 19 would be at the end of the hallway, just before you took the right to the elevator bank.

Nope. I've stayed in 4319 and 4320.
They are right next to each other and are option 1.
Alot of people book both of these rooms and connect them for a "suite", instead of booking a suite in the main building. Alot more bang for the buck, ie, you can get a discount on this room.

The 22's are the option B right next to the turret suite.
It cannot be connecting since it is next door to the turret layout, hence no connecting door.

Make sense now?

Wow! Congratulations! Lucky you! That would be my dream upgrade!

Lulu'sMom - Yes, it all makes sense!:thumbsup2 I misunderstood about the king standard rooms.

You are so right, rooms ending in 19 and 20 are next to each other, and have connecting doors - we were assigned either 4319 or 4419 in 2007, and visited a friend in 4419 last May. In any case, rooms 20 and 22 CANNOT be "divided by the turret honeymoon suite" as the turret rooms are the first on that hall (we've stayed in 4021 twice).

I should have realized your point about the rooms next to the octagonal king rooms not having a connector! I thought they might connect to the room on the other side, but I've been in one of those rooms - duh!;)

WDWKOOK - the hall with the turret king rooms on either end (across the atrium from the lounge) begins with 21, and ends with 30. I should have a better photo of that hall, but here's the best I can find at the moment - the rooms are on the left side:

Many of them have a little hallway of their own, here is the one leading to 4322 and 4323 (4323 is the standard room where I took the beach pool/Wedding Pavilion photos I posted earlier):
4322 on left, 4323 on right

Let's head on in!;)

phyllis1966 - Wow! Great upgrade, I'm so excited for you!:dance3:

coopersmom - thanks for the link to the photo, and the info.:goodvibes

Just read through the past few days of posts. Sooo much great information about rooms in the main building. I only stayed there once, an upgrade like phyliss1966. Congratulations on the upgrade, so amazing and exciting.

All these posts about rooms at the RPC are great examples of how wonderful this thread is. Lulu'sMom and k&a&c'smom you two are wonderful, such a wealth of information and great photos! Sounds like WDWKOOK should be set for a great stay!!!

I think a gathering at the GF would be amazing. :grouphug: AND, how true, we will have to search WDW for pas130 aka Nurse Perdue. This may also be the case with WDWKOOK!

So, has anyone played backgammon on this table at the GF?

k&a&c'smom, thank you for all the lovely photos. I love being able to picture everything before we arrive:goodvibes.

On our Disney Destinations confirmation it doesn't state "QUEEN" anywhere on it, but just says: "Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Main Bldg - Deluxe Room - Club Level." I assume since there are two adults and a Jr. booked, it's implied that it's a queen?

I love backgammon and your photo - where is the table located? I think we should all plan on meeting at that table!

I just want to go on record and say that while I may have some resort changing experience:rolleyes1, I can honestly say that I have never even come close to changing resorts over 50 times for a 3-night stay. I leave that kind of interminable resort changing to Nurse Perdue - she has set the bar high:snooty:

Hi everyone. I haven't been able to check in since we got back from our vacation. We LOVED the Grand and have already decided that is where we will stay when we go back again! Now, we just have to figure out when that will be. We were totally spoiled and got upgraded to a Theme Park View in Big Pine Key and it was amazing. Our daughter loved being able to run out on the patio and see the castle, and to be able to see the fireworks at night was wonderful. Zoey has already started referring to the Grand as "her hotel".

Thank you to everyone who helped me when we were planning our trip, you guys are amazing with all the tips and information you have. It was priceless.

LOL about the resort changing. I admit, I've done my share, but I could never hit 50 times!;)

Jungle Cruiser - thanks, isn't this group wonderful?! You have so much great info, too, as does everyone on the thread. We can all learn something new about our favorite resort.:goodvibes

Speaking of which - love the photo, you have me stumped! Looks like it should be in one of the little hallways over the atrium? Wonderful photo.:thumbsup2

WDWKOOK - yes, a deluxe queen will simply say "main bldg. - deluxe" on the reservation. The only other deluxe rooms in the main bldg. are the king deluxe, and they say "main bldg. - deluxe - king" on the reservation.:flower3: Everyone here tends to refer to them as queen deluxe to make it easier to identify, I think.

I'm with Jungle Cruiser, all this talk makes me long for a GF stay - preferably RPC, but any room would do!;)

What building is a garden view room? I booked a garden view room but when we got there we were in Conch Key and facing the lake. The view was beautiful!! Just curious if this was an upgrade?

Were you facing the marina? If so that is a garden view also. If you were facing the Magic Kingdom.. then you got an upgrade.

I usually request the marina when i stay in Conch. I like it.:goodvibes

msmith1026 - Welcome back!:goodvibes We must have posted at the same time last night.

I'm so glad you had a magical vacation - cute your DD now thinks of the Grand as "her hotel!" Time to start planning your next visit.;)

mommy2emily - Welcome!:cheer2: Conch Key is my favorite outer bldg., we love the location, and the marina view is a bonus!

I was telling Nursie P that we need to have a GF meet one of these days! :grouphug: ::yes::
:thumbsup2 This may be just what I need to get my GF fix in...I will bring DD7, the ultimate GF lover  So far it's looking like BLT (maybe Poly if there's a discount for DH) I miss the Grand :worship:

The only problem with a GF Meet with pas130, is that she changes (voluntarily and involuntarily:rolleyes1) so many times - we'd never find her:rotfl:
It's all good, I will find you!!!! :grouphug:Congrats on booking RPC with the discount. NICE!!! No changing!!! (Yes that IS coming from me )

:rotfl: It is the truth, but we will help her keep the Grand...;) All of you here are wonderful and those pics :cloud9:

 I've only made 6 changes to my upcoming trip. I can hold it for 10 months don't ya think? :rotfl2: Now I have to learn how to play backgammon!

I do not recall doing that much changing....but that is my problem. My DH finally says, he is OK that is my only problem.....he is starting to enjoy the changes, because we ALWAYS have a great time...Although he is a little miffed at my last change...He wouldn't be if we actually STAYED at RPC :confused3

This group is WONDERFUL!!! :grouphug:

mssmith Welcome home! The Grand is my DDs resort as well! Glad you had a GRAND time :yay:

The backgammon table is across from the kid's TV at the RPC. I taught my daughter how to play when we stayed there a few years ago!

KCMike, we are missing your pictures! Repeats, especially in your case since you take such amazing ones, are always welcome!

The backgammon table is across from the kid's TV at the RPC. I taught my daughter how to play when we stayed there a few years ago!

When we were there in September the backgammon and checkers tables were on the third floor in a nook off the concierge desks (no TV). Across from the TV in the lounge that plays the old Disney cartoons were kid-sized tables. I know this because they were my son's two favorite spots. Either watching cartoons and having a snack, or playing checkers at the big table.

In KCMIKE'S absence, here's a photo to tide evryone over.

All the pictures made me miss the Grand so much, I just changed my 2012 trip again....shocker I know :rotfl: I wish I was strolling the sidewalk right now...I missed my chance last week :confused3
